Thanks for this guide!
At first i had some Problems with my GPU realizing that i plugged the two powercabels for the GPU in the same 12V Rail without knowing it.
After a long search in the internet i finaly found a descreption how the rails of my PSU are splitted and how much W they deliver.

Learned my first lesson with PSUs when I ordered a 750W one and tried to overclock CPU, GPU and RAM with it. Strange how things work out so nicely when I educate myself first haha.

I'm trying to figure out if my REALLY old PC Power & Cooling TURBO-COOL 860 will work for a modern PC. I've had it for a really long time, but it's never been used.

Hi,
which is the best value for money power supply from EVGA for 2 3060 Ti?

Not sure why you would run 2 3060Ti's when they can't run SLI but you just double the TDP on the spec sheet of your 3060Ti for a rough estimate at how much additional wattage you need.

I have a Seasonic platinum 660W PSU still in warranty that technically could handle a 3080, but I probably would still upgrade to an 850W just to know I won't have to think about it at all.

I looked up the TURBO-COOL 860 online - it is a solid PSU.  You should be able to use it as long as your graphic cards' power plug fits.

3080's recommended PSU is 750w by Nvidia.  Your 660w might work, but I agree that it's best to get a new one just to be on the safe side - I won't risk a $1,000+ graphic card for a PSU replacement.

Whats the rest of your system? Technically, any very well made 650w could work for a 3080. The problem was that lesser units were not handling the transient spikes, and shutting down. It even affected some decent 750w units, but better PSU's didn't have issues. Your Seasonic platinum could be worth trying out before spending more money. Test it stock to see, then do a small undervolt to give more peace of mind. I'm pretty sure with a basic CPU/GPU  undervolt (everyone should do that for temps/noise/longevity IMO), it would work fine. If you plan to really OC that card (there's not a ton of room), and CPU, you'd want that 850w unit, but a real good 750w might cover you depending on the CPU.

Maybe they are mining with them.

Hi guys. How much headroom should one shoot for?
If my system needs 600w, how much power is the sweet spot without spending too much?

Thanks!

Are any power bricks better than others for PSUs?

Nothing but good experiences with Corsair personally

A computer’s power supply unit () is one of the most important – and often overlooked – components in a system. When a PSU overheating it can cause a variety of problems including reduced system performance, data loss, and even component damage.
