After just installing the latest Nvidia drivers (347.25) on my Sager NP9377-A (970M sli) with windows 8.1, when I go to open precision X 16 it instantly crashes as the initial interface screen for it pops up (Program has stopped working). Before installing the newest Nvidia drivers I was able to overclock and everything with precision X 16, but recently I tried older versions of 16 as well as the 4.2.1 version of precision and none of them work. All the 16 versions instantly crash on when started up as described above and the 4.2.1 does not allow me to overclock at all (but does open without crashing). Trying to install latest graphics card drivers as been a pain with nvidia and this laptop so I would like to keep these latest drivers if at all possible, so I am hoping for a solution that allows me to overclock again with Precision X 16.

As far as I know mobile GPU's aren't fully supported by precision x.

Ya but with that being said, if it was working before, I simply am hoping there is a way to have it working again.

And on that note, it was no change in EVGA Precision X, but just later Nvidia drivers themselves.. Although I can't explain how that caused Precision X to suddenly stop working...

If you want everything working again you will need to redownload the older precision x & drivers you were using before, should work just fine then since it was working before.

Of course but I am attempting to be greedy. I am hoping there is a reason as to why latest Nvidia drivers would suddenly cause Precision X to break. I don't think it has anything to do with Mobile graphics or anything in this case.

Well, your experience has proven otherwise.  I own a Sager laptop of my own.  Different model and different graphics card.  Anyways, I wanted to say that my opinion is that it is a stupid idea to overclock the graphics card because power and heat is what causes mobile devices to fail anyways.  You are just going to make it fail sooner and get very little performance gain for such a large cost.

I am not sure how my experience proves that having a mobile GPU caused something to break that was working right before updating to a month later nvidia graphics driver. Yes, with 4.2.1 of Precision X I couldn't overclock this gpu, but any Versions of 16 worked.

Updating drivers = causing EVGA Precision to not work is different than if it had not worked in the first place due to mobile graphics.

While certainly it may be the cause, I don't think my experience has proven such.

Complain to EVGA, they're the only ones that can fix it. I doubt they will fix it though as mobile GPU's aren't supported. You just got lucky with the last set of drivers.

You said that you didn't think that the issue had anything to do with mobile graphics or "anything" else.  "Anything" else includes the entire universe.  ;)   Your experience has proven that something caused it to stop working.  I never claimed that it was the mobile graphics card which caused it to stop working.

As was already stated, either go back to what worked before, or wait for something to randomly work again in the future.

    Yup

... And, like I said before, you really shouldn't be overclocking your mobile GPU anyways.  Why?  It will 100% guaranteed cause it to break sooner; and the difference in performance is not going to be perceivable anyways...  Unless you like staring at numbers all day to measure the difference your eyes didn't perceive on their own.

I actually can't go back to what worked before as sad as that sounds. If I try to manually install drivers I get the issue that nvidia can't detect my graphics blah blah. I was amazed that Geforce experience even downloaded this one (as even as it tried to update before didn't work). I guess technically I could go way back to the CD drivers...

Also, while overclocked with +135mhz and +494 mhz mem, it was on default voltage and only 70degrees under benchmarking... I appreciate the concern but I don't think it will break much sooner on default voltage.

Also, if the mobile was not supported in this case, I still find it weird that instead of just being locked and still displaying numbers, it'd just up and crash. I just hope to find / have a solution created for my greedy self :D

Every increase in temperature, frequency, or voltage causes a decrease in life. You cannot increase frequency without reducing life. Whether or not the temperatures stayed low or whether or not the voltage was raised does not matter. An increase in frequency alone will cause a reduction in life.

I know how to mod drivers to make them work. The video card in my Sager isn't even supported by my Sager. I need to modify every driver I install, otherwise NVIDIA drivers will say that no supported display adapters were detected. If you need help, ask.

The newest drivers have been a mess for a while anyways. I would stick with the older ones if I were you.

I just rolled back drivers to confirm. Ya, it is the latest update from Nvidia that has caused EVGA Precision X to break in my case.
