All,

Good morning! I recently purchased a couple of Fractal Design Dynamic GP-14s for my R5 case. I'm having an extremely noobish moment, as I can't figure out how to mount these fans. It seems the screws are way too short. I'm trying to mount one of the fans to the front of the case in addition to the one that's already there. The screws that are mounting the existing fan are about 3 times longer than what came with the additional fan that I ordered. Am I missing something here...?

    The short style screws can be mounted through the "single" fan flange.  Place screw in middle of fan an through just one flange hole, place driver through first (outer) flange hole to drive screw.

    The longer screws can mount from the front through both flanges

    Which way are you screwing them in? From outside of case then into the fan? Or through the fan first then into the case?

    Through the fan and into the case.

    Through the fan and into the case.

    Try the other way.

    Are they machine screws or

    self tapping screws

    FYI, if you go to like Home Depot to buy screws for your fans (long ones), you have two types which are basically the same you can use.

    1.) #6-32 x 1 3/16in screws (30mm long) Philips screws -> I found 1 1/4in to be better
    2.) M4 screws (just the metric version) somewhere between 30-35mm long depending on how much clearance there is on the other side (shorter - closer to 30mm - obviously if attaching to a radiator so you don't hit the fins)

    I did some research because I bought some more Corsair ML140 fans for my case but they only come with the tiny self-tapping screws and they were not going to work out for how I was mounting them.

    Thanks for the help, guys! I actually wound up doing a fairly extensive surgery on my computer last night lol. I removed all of the hard drive bays, mounted my SSD on the panel behind the motherboard. I removed my optical drive and the cage for that as well. I was able to get the 2nd front fan installed, and I also installed two additional fans at the top for exhaust, and removed the rear fan and placed it up top with the two additional fans. So, my configuration is 2 front intake fans, and three exhaust fans at the top.

    I ran some benchmarks and stress tests last night and noticed about a 10 degree difference in temps. Very happy with how it went, once I was able to get started.
