Hi!

Just wondering if someone from Evga can say YES or NO if you will have any GTX 690's available on the Launch date of May 3rd?  I prefer to purchase my cards from Evga and I just need to know if I should be checking here on Thursday, May 3rd.

I would appreciate any info so I can plan out what I want to do or where I would need to go if I decide to purchase this new card.

release and purchase info generally are not spoken about by EVGA unless Nvidia gives them permission and they decide to .EVGA will have them but when is not something they will tell us ,other then on or after the official Nvidia release date .Having seen the 680's and the limited supply im going to say these will sell out worldwide in the first 20 mins of retail sales.Be prepared to F5 all day on release day. It will be 10x worse then trying to get a 680 with the 690 being a limited run to begin with.

    Good Luck

knowing how bad Nvidia is on doing enough production, I wouldn't be surprised if EVGA only gets 3 or 4 cards.

Well Nvidia already said that Evga would have the cards amongst other parnters, so it is no secret that Evga will have them.  All I am asking is if Evga will have them on May 3rd or not.  I would hate to camp F5 here to find out after the whole day that they wont have them while I could of camped other sites.    I don't think Evga would violate anything by simply saying "Yes, we will have 690 on May 3rd, but cannot mention more than that".  Like I said in Nvidia's press release they already mentioned Evga.

At the same time, they said that limited availability on May 3rd with more on May 7th.  For me, I just need to know where to go on May 3rd?

Wait what? When did he say that?  Are you sure he was talking about the 690?  I heard Mid-May for the 680 FTW..but I dont think he has said anything about the 690 as of yet.

Not concerned with quanitity as we already know they are going to be limited.  We already know the date, everyone knows the date...Nvidia's spilled the beans on the date on the press release.  What I am asking is a simple question...will Evga's site/store have these on the date that Nvidia stated that they will go on sale? I mean for all we know, Evga could be adding a Backplate or a high flow bracket and because of that they may not have them on the 3rd.

I just think that for someone like me that is willing to spend that much money on a Evga product it would be nice to know a simple yes or no if they will be selling them come the 3rd.  I don't think there is any issue is stating yes or no being that Nvidia's Press Release mentions Evga.

Why would they start doing that now? 11+ years /....Business doesn't work that way.All it takes is one mistake in shipping or hold up and boom all dates are screwed.Do you see any dates in advanced for the 680  Classy or FTW?(or for any other GPUS in the past) they even have them in shop for sometime now but a date is not set in stone or published yet.
Business wise your not seeing the implications of making a promise of a retail sales date .I cant make you understand so i dont know what else or how to get this across to you.

I work in retail as well and know how these things work.  If it was not for Nvidia stating clearly that partners will have these on sale starting May 3rd I would not be asking as much as I am.  While they mentioned approx. 8 parnters or so that will have them, it is up to the individual companies to actually start releasing them on that date.  Like I said, Evga could have the cards right now, but perhaps they wont have the box ready on the 3rd, perhaps they are adding a high flow bracket etc.

Again, Nvidia already dropped the launch date and mentioned all the partners that will have them...asking if Evga will have them on the 3rd or not is not breaking any NDA or anything like that since Nvidia already has announced the release date of the card.

I clearly hear what you are saying, but I think you are missing the fact that Nvidia already announced the launch date, so it is not like we are asking for Evga to break NDA by saying launch date is the 3rd since Nvidia has already done this.

All I am saying here is that I want to spend my money with Evga...if they wont have them I will go somewhere else.  But it would be pretty crappy to camp out EVGA and then "AFTER" the fact find out that they are not selling their version of the card until a later date...and then blow my chance of getting a card from another vendor because I was waiting here for the cards.

I mean, we have people posting videos of the unboxing of the card already...the date is known, the specs are known, the price is known...is there a harm in Evga saying "yes, we will have some for sale on the official launch date of May 3rd"?

why you want to do that? 2 680's is faster than a single 690. plus they will overclock much further.

Like i said Launch and sell date are never the same thing in retail at the upper levels .Technically the cards are already launched and in production, retail sales dates are a complete different idea.Chances are good they will, but in reality unless they have them in shop and have finished retail packaging they very well might not be ready on the 3rd.Do you see ANY other 690 vendor promising sales on the 3rd? Might be a reason behind that .....Generally launches are Fridays (rarely) but mostly tues, sometimes Mondays. And ill be real with you ,i doubt more then 10 people on these forums get to buy one as the first sales are going to be multi purchase of 4/2 for resale by the price jackers at amazon and ebay .Also notice this thread has been seen by EVGA for sometime now and no one has said anything?
I hope you get one but being realistic your going to have to wait like everyone else did for the 680's and previous GPU's .

I guess to settle this I should go get a copy of the press release where Nvidia states they will go on sale on the 3rd.  Actually, they go as far as to say that limited quantiites will be on "SALE" on May 3rd with more inventory being available on "SALE" on May 7th.  I think you are confusing launch date information and sale date information.  Again, if Nvidia did not say themselves that it would go ON SALE on May 3rd, why would I be asking if Evga will have them on May 3rd?

Obviously there is a reason why Evga is not responding.  It could be that they may not have their version ready by the 3rd or another reason.

As far as your other comment in regards to quantity, I do hope that when Evga does sell them that they put a limit of 2 per customer since the only people buying more than 2 would be to re-sell them.

I dont remember who from Evga said it, but they did confirm that the 690 wont be part of the Step Up program...so you will not be able to step up from your 680 to a 690.

    will i be able to step-up my 2 680's ?

why you want to do that? 2 680's is faster than a single 690. plus they will overclock much further.

That may not be true.  They just down clocked the cards to meet the 300W TDP.  The GPUs on the card are binned, so its possible the binned GPUs will actually overclock farther since they require less voltage.

And they are nice for people in my shoes that are planning to go the route of mini-itx mobos.  EVGA is making an enthusiast mini-itx, and as we all know, that form factor only allows 1 PCI-E slot so you only get 1 card. So you want the fastest you can get.

Dual GPU and non reference cards have never been "always" or automatically considered to be a step up card .

Nothing embarrassing or disappointing about the 690 not being on the step up list its actually the well known truth it wouldn't be  based off past launches dating back more then 4 years .

The 9800GX2 was eligible for step up way back when.

At the same time, they said that limited availability on May 3rd with more on May 7th.  For me, I just need to know where to go on May 3rd?

Pretty much this. Its no secret that EVGA is getting the cards and it would be nice to know if they're either coming tomorrow or sometime next week. Nvidia was somewhat vague as to the availability of the cards at release.

That's not true if the 690's are able to achieve the rumored 1300mhz.

Yes that is true, so was the 295 for a limited amount of time. However the 590 was not. Based on this, you should have assumed a 690 step up is a hit or miss at most.

Well the 590 was released as a "classified" product by Evga which would be a specialty card.  The 690 is not a specialty card since it is a reference design made by Nvidia.  It is also not a limited edition card since Nvidia has already stated they plan to make it for well over a year.

It sounds like something that should/would be eligible for Step Up, but that ultimately is up to Evga to put it up on the Step Up program.

I hope Evga makes a back plate for this though.  The card looks so sick that a back plate and for that matter a high flow bracket would be really nice.
