RN@VGA chrstphrmoss RN@VGA Wow the power draw is the same as a 5970. Now either something is wrong there or Nvidia rushed Fermi in order to get it out soon. Why did they not use 40nm in making this as compared to ATi? They did use 40nm....... http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=3651 Woops... No problem.. :)

If I'm not mistaken, the GTX 480 should look like this model that was shown in the video clip that one of the NVIDIA representatives was showing off (Tessellation from the Heaven benchmark)

Nazca's picture is what I thought the 480 was gonna look like... I like the way that one looks without the pipes. My Favorite looking DX11 games in order are Metro 2033, BFBC2, Aliens Vs Predator and last but not least Stalker COP. I have not bought dirt 2 yet thats another one I need to buy.

So not what the final card would look like. They also said they had to redesign the cooler because the chips were producing so much heat.

There's another video I watched a couple weeks ago (2 weeks ago, it came out) with a similar - if not the same design of the card vs the image I posted above. It does not appear to have the heat pipes out the top. Unless they changed something within two weeks, I'd say the retail version would be pretty similar.

That video isnt actually from only 2 weeks, its just the video of the system running that is in that picture. Also they still have the early cards laying around, which they still use. The actual release card will have the 4 heat pipes.

It was posted March 4, 2010. I don't think NVIDIA would record something a few months ago and just post it on March 4, 2010. I also really don't think they'd use old hardware in a new video. Sorry, I don't believe your statement. But, like I said before, only time will tell.

Its not old hardware, its still a GTX 480, its just an early version of it, there is no point pulling a working card out of a demo machine just because it doesnt have the final revision of the cooler. Take a look at the early shots of the SR-2 board, it had different heatsinks up until the final version was released. Also Nvidia on purpose have been keeping very quiet about the GTX 480, they had working cards months ago, however they didnt show them to anyone. This is just one of those old systems they had set up and were testing with, but only a short time ago decided they would actually show it to people.

When an EVGA mod says the photo is phony, I'll take their word for it. That being said, the card may or may not have heat pipes. Claiming as a fact it does, is premature. Edit: Well cool. Some pics were posted up reportedly from XFX and they clearly show a 5 heat pipe design for the 480. ATI fan bois are going to trip over the reported TPD of 295 watt BUT with 512 shader cores...let em cry.

supreme07 to Raku: it would be nice if you can edit and list the same spec of its predecessor gtx 280 or gtx 285 like you have listed gtx 480 spec, so for the noobs can compare what have Nvidia gone from GT200 to Fermi. posted in OP
