I checked HFM to see how things were going and I notice my advmethods client was getting 311 PPD and not doing an a3, it was doing an a0 core WU. I had also screwed up my name and team number in the swap back. So I deleted the wouk unit, client config, queue, unitinfo and FAHlog. restarted and put in all mu client config info, and downloaded a new WU. It is still the a0 core, but once the WU downloads and engages it stops with a FILE_IO_ERROR message. What gives? Anyone else with this?

Try rebooting the system and then check the following: 1) Check that there is enough disk space 2) Check for a permission issue where the client does not have access to the work directory 3) Run a chkdsk on the drive If that fails, stop the client, clear the queue.dat file and work directory and start the client.

See below linuxrouter Try rebooting the system and then check the following: 1) Check that there is enough disk space (355 GB free on a 500 GB HDD) 2) Check for a permission issue where the client does not have access to the work directory (no permission issue problems) 3) Run a chkdsk on the drive (interesting you should mention this. The hard drive the OS is on is slowly failing. I have had to run chkdsk 3 times recently and repair bad sectors. I have created a drive image and tomorrow will be restoring the image to another 500 GB drive. But for now at least, all seems to be running stable) If that fails, stop the client, clear the queue.dat file and work directory and start the client.

The A0 core should be only for the single-core CPU client. I have no idea why you would be getting those WUs on an SMP client.

pg hate to bother you but could you send me the info to fix this. I just got home to this same error. It was a new install of windows and the FAH clients after the CC Edit: After reading more, seems like others are having the same problem, but if anyone has a solution to start folding successfully again please let me know

delete the work folder, queue.dat, unitinfo and the fahcores (those are just to be safe). I´ve had the same problem and now they are folding happily again

Glad to hear your running again. This should work, until you download another one of these wu. Basicly all you did was deleting that wu.

I was also having this isue it seems as though it was downloading corrupted A0 Wu's and then would fold them for some time then realize it was corrupted and delete it and download another corrupted unit. seems as thou it is fixed for now though as I installed windows updates and restarted the client it deleted the WU and downloaded an A3 unit so I restart my second PC and it deletes and downloaded an A3 also

One of my Q6600's got a puny 131 point core_b4 WU last night and it completely messed up my VM. No matter how many times I restarted the VM it just would not get a new WU. I finally had to delete the VM and restart from scratch.

I got the exact same error last night. My -smp client started folding on core a0 rather than core a3. My genius solution was to shut down folding, delete the work, and then restart it again. Now I'm folding on a Core_a3 WU again.
