I noticed that the fan on my 1080 ti sc2 doesn't spin that well as the one on the VRM side.  I was wondering if there was resource out there that could help guide me to cleaning the fan or replacing them since I see fans on ebay for $20.   Is this challenging to do?

I already took apart the 1080ti sc2 to reapply thermal pads and paste, just an FYI in regards to how familiar I am with working on it.

I may just get the Morpheus 2 cooler like I stated in earlier post...but maybe this would help...Thanks.

Another option you have would be to do a cross ship rma, and just swap the coolers with the card evga sends you.

Excellent idea!  Didn't know that was possible.   Is this something that I would talk to EVGA customer service about or is this some sort of shady technique you're suggesting to get a new cooler lol.  It is still under warranty until January 2020.

An EVGA GTX 1080 Ti SC2 employs ICX Cooling Technology (zone cooling)..The left fan speed which is determined by the GPU temperature will be different than the right fan speed which is determined by the Power and Memory temperature, depending on the zone temperature.

If that's what you meant by saying "the fan on my 1080 ti sc2 doesn't spin that well as the one on the VRM side", then that's likely normal.

You can set up custom fan curves for each fan using EVGA Precision.

Yes, you'd need to speak with evga customer service. EVGA has suggested this themselves in the past, so it isn't a shady technique.

I thought I heard some clicking sounds (though very minor) so I looked over GPU since I'm always cautious.   When I spin the fan with my finger on the GPU side i found that it came to a stop much quicker than the left, so I dont' know how much life is left in it.   That's what I meant.

I had to do lots of TLC with this second hand card so who knows the history it had.   Runs well and all, though fans seem to run higher than normal in a well ventilated case (up to 60% at the very most on stock settings).  Usually around 55-56 percent otherwise.

This is not at all a shady technique. We do have customers do this in certain scenarios such as if the user had replaced the air cooled shroud with a waterblock, and lost the original shroud. If the card fails, we need the card back in it's factory condition, so some users opt to just move the block over and use the shroud that came with the replacement and put it on the non working card.

The Cross-Ship method essentially allows the user to pay a collateral deposit for the MSRP Price of the product, and we send the replacement first. This deposit does get refunded upon us receiving a card back, and it is accepted in by the RMA department.

That would be an easy way to do it too/

+1..... seems like a lot of hoops to jump through just to replace the fan. If the cards under warranty shouldn't he just be sent out a fan!!!!! No?!?!?

Update: EVGA got back to my ticket and they state that they can only swap the entire GPU.

With that being said, what would be the condition of the 1080ti sc2 that I would recieve from them?   It would be nice to get the fan issue taken care of since it will be problematic in near future but I also like the performance and overall condition of my card.  Would hate to trade it in for one they cleaned up after little johnny spilled soda and mustard all over it lol.

RMA replacement cards are usually returns that are inspected, EVGA RMA stock is separate - when they get your Card they see what they have as an Exact replacement, or "Similar Performance" replacement.  If you have an SLI setup - it is important to tell EVGA in your RMA request

We do not have replacement fans to send out  unfortunately. The  only option would be to RMA the card. If the PCB that the customer has is in working condition, and they would like to hold onto that PCB, the fan shrouds would need to be swapped through the Cross-Ship RMA option.

I can assure you, all cards are thoroughly tested before leaving our facility. Any liquid damage would also be denied for warranty so this is also highly unlikely. If you have any issues with the replacement, please don't hesitate to get in contact with us about it. :)

Id love to add to this and hope for a reply. I have this unit, GTX 1080 ti SC2, and its about 4 years old now. (the RTX40xx are about to be announced.) My question is since my GPU is well out of warranty, how would I go about getting my fan array replaced? one fan is now making a rattle noise and it not being hindered by debris, probably just a bearing going out. But what are my options as im out of warranty?

Buy the fans from somewhere other than EVGA and have someone other than EVGA replace the fans.
Aliexpress.com has a lot of fan options. If you remove a fan and look at the part number on the sticker on the back of the fan, you are almost sure to find one for sale on aliexpress.

    ASRock Z77 • Intel Core i7 3770K • EVGA GTX 1080 • Samsung 850 Pro • Seasonic PRIME 600W Titanium
