Hello, myself and two of my friends all ordered the 400-HY-5598-B1 kit this week and installed them last night. All three of us are experiencing the fan scraping on the shroud and making noise. One friend it is happening at all fan speeds, myself and the other it only happens when the fan is above 80%. We followed the install instructions to a T. Has anyone else experienced this and is there anything we can do to remedy it? Here is a video of what it sounds like, quite obnoxious. Edit: Forum strips out links for some reason so I guess you'll just have to take my word for it.

Was it because fan wasn't "level" with PCB? I would imagine that's the most likely cause as if it sits at an angle, it'll be tilted a touch closer to the card shroud.

Hello, You can remove the card and place it fan side up on a wooden table or cardboard to avoid static discharge. Then, place light downward pressure onto the middle of the fan with your index finger and you should feel a bit of play. Press up and down on the center of the fan; this should re-align any bearings that may be causing this issue. If you continue to have the fan noise please let us know.

My fan is doing the same thing. I got it to clear a little then installed in computer and as soon as the clock went up on the gpu the fan was hitting again. It looks like the fan sits offset of the hole in the shroud. Now what?

I posted the same issue over on the other thread (see below). Replacement arrived today. I will take a hard look to ensure everything will work before closing it all up again. Perhaps there is just some poor QC going on with tolerances/ compatibility issues. Startup Startup XXXhttps://streamable.com/4vyly XXXPhoto link included.

Actually it's the opposite, got a new hybrid cooler kit today. The screws do not tighten close enough to the PCB and the fan "falls" when tipped upside down. I gracefully tried to tighten, very minimal effort, and one screw stripped the head off. I'll be returning that one. I'll post pictures in a couple minutes.

Ya the screws they tell you to use have a collar on them that doesn't allow the fan heatsink to tighten to the pcb allowing it to sit cocked and I would imagine it would be able to move around since it isn't really secured. Even if you put the screws that don't have the collar in that location the fan will still rub on the shroud. I have tried to move the shroud away as far as possible and loosen the a hair to give clearance but it still sits close enough to rub. On the pump side of the fan there is plenty of room. I'm done messing with it for tonight, getting tired and don't wanna mess up my gpu.

So the screws that hold the fan on are super loose. I let the GPU sit on the box (fan down), then lightly lifted by the PCB to simulate if it were placed into computer and the fan "hanging". This causes the fan to drop and likely fall into the shroud, as seen: XXXhttps://streamable.com/y7ni6 XXX (remove the XXX's) One of my screws for this area wouldn't actually fit into the hole. I took the fan assembly out separately and all other screws were able to be hand tightened into the holes. Likely a threading issue on 1 screw. Took a substitute from previous kit. Loose screws by fan: Vs. a tight screw near the pump mount: Attempt made to tighten screw on near fan, very gracefully actually... I went ahead and reassembled, and left 2 screws out which pass through the PCB and mount to the shroud. 2 additional screws are supposed to go in the same spot through backplate. Final solution including backplate. It works, no fan hitting shroud. I still think my first shroud was also warped.

I was wondering if my shroud was warped also because if I squeezed the sides in a little it would clear the fan. Just looking at it didn't seem to be warped but I will look a little closer after work today. I might try taking the screws out like monitorhunter did to see if that helps.

Well, this set of pictures you can see that the screw in each picture holding the fan leg down is different. I would think out of the two the top one must be the correct screw cause the 2nd one the fan blade is hitting the side.
I'm not sure if the screws holding the fan to the heatsink are different. Can check again when I get back tonight. The third picture is an entirely different screw location. This screw goes through the PCB and mounts to the pump. One of the included screws did not have threading on it.

Wouldn't shaving off a bit void the warranty?

Oh okay. That's a pretty short warranty. Honestly with a liquid cooler, I'd rather just send it in if I was OP

The fan hits on mine and I will be sending it back. You can believe I am not going to "shave a bit off" and ruin the warranty, just to later risk the pump going bad and not being able to warranty at all. "It's just a year" is not an appropriate response for that part.
