I noticed a kind of 'Stock' for locking up a prisoner similar to ancient witch hunting torture devices in my workbench menu. Maybe I can use my 'Pacify' perk and force her into a cage or one of those Stock contraptions to keep her immobilized for a while.

The player is able to kill Carla, but she is set as essential to everything else in the wasteland.

What's so essential about Carla? All she does is wander about. She never has any decent Legendary weapons for sale like that whacko from the friendly Vault. Her name is Cricket and her name was in one of the Institute terminals as being a snitch informing them on the location of escaped Synths. Cricket sold me 'Spray and Pray' which is really neat but I have since aquired more powerful weapons. My fingers better wake up soon. I am tired of constantly having to edit my posts because my fingers are typing the wrong letters or getting them in the wrong order. Yes, I know my K70 keyboard is occasionally typing a double-'L' but I am getting tired of dealing with it. Blowing it out with a DataVac didn't help. Slamming it down on the counter top didn't help. Punching it did the least bit of good because now my hand hurts.

Wow...  I think you need more coffee.

We went from Carla to spoiler (I didn't know about Cricket yet...) to a keyboard rant to self mutilation.

You'll have to ask Bethesda whats so essential about Carla.  But probably the same reason that Cricket is set as essential, as are most of the other traders.   They can't be killed while out on their route.  The player can kill them, but the critters out in the Commonwealth cant.

Just put some time in and didn't notice any issues yet since the update. Did do a lot of blasting and did not have any issues in that area either.

I thought so.

I do a lot of trading with Carla as I find that she does have certain items that have a certain break down that is hard to find in general.

Now that one is very annoying. Screaming while talking. She drives me nuts. But she does carry a nice bank roll and has a lot of good items for sale.

Pondering to start playing again, but it's been so long that I forgot where my character is and it's history. I'll probably start over again when Fallout 4 VR and Skyrim VR are both out. Putting down a character like Fallout 4 for awhile and then trying to pick it back up is problematic, because how players develop in open world games.

That it is. I usually play weekends and maybe a weekday so my down time is not that great to have that problem that you have mentioned. But even then it is tough.

I'm having a hard time focusing on anything to scrap it. There is a very small window for me to get the item to light up. Sometimes I can't even loot a Raider because no matter where I aim my pointer it won't recognize him. I had another Provisioner open fire on me yesterday after their Brahmin got killed. I was ignoring him while I was looting the Provisioner that a Super Mutant killed but I felt the silly Pipe Pistol rounds hitting my armor then Cait nailed him with a few rounds from the Laser Rifle I gave her. She knocked the stupid Provisioner to the ground but didn't kill him. When he got up we were all good again and he went on his way sans Brahmin. He looked sort of dazed. LOL

That's how it is/was with me as well.  Sometimes I can pick back up where I left off, like I will definitely do if/when I go back to Skyrim, but I'll spend the next few hours afterwards trying to figure out what I was doing.

I don't really have any problems putting this game away for as long as a week. I just open my Pip Boy and check my Data for any active or waiting missions. If I don't have anything I can always go to either the BOS or RR to get some temporary work. I already have a full time job as General of the Minutemen so money isn't a problem as much as all of the spare time I have on my hands. Then I check my inventory to make sure I'm not overloaded. If I am I go to my workshops and scrap any extra weapons and extra armor. Then I have to find a bed to keep Cait happy and away we go. My biggest gripe with RR missions is when P.A.M. gives me a quest to wipe out a BOS patrol. I feel like a traitor killing my BOS fellow knights just to save a bunch of Synths. Even us Mercenaries have to have certain standards and lines we shouldn't cross.

Got one of the worst curb stompings I've had so far last night.

I was knocking out some of the Cleansing the Commonwealth missions for that ... charming person.   This time it was head over to the Gwinnett Brewery and clean it out.  I figured it would be no big deal.  Go shoot some critters and be done with it.

As many of you might know by now, Im running numerous mods.  Two in particular are Modern Firearms and Super Mutants Redux.   The mutant mod improves the look of the mutants a bit, adds Nightkin to the game and makes the mutants tougher overall.  It also adds a stronger "Legendary" class to the mutants as well.   The Modern Firearms adds well, modern firearms including some really nasty things like a Browning M2.  The downside is that both the player and the bad guys can get those weapons.   In particular, Super Mutants get the bigger, nastier guns.  Like the aforementioned Browning.  Or worse.

So I head into Gwinette,  everything was going smoothly.  Lots of Mirelurks until I ran into the pack of mutants hanging out in the restaraunt.  Every single mutie in there was a warlord except for the two Nightkin and one of the Nightkin was a unique character.  Two of the muties were Legendaries.  And all of them with the exception of the non unique Nightkin had .50 machine guns.

I died.  A lot.   It took me several attempts to figure out to get through them.  Because they would basically kill me in one or two shots.  That is when they weren't dismembering or beheading me.  I finally figure out this routine.  Take a hit of jet, shoot like crazy, kill one.  Immediately save.  Rinse and repeat.  Even then I had to reload numerous times because they could still get a couple of shots in if I didn't act fast enough and keep them staggered.   I think the unique Nightkin was the absolute worst.  He liked to jump down and close to melee range, but he would shoot me instead of using his axe.    And with him being cloaked, I couldn't use VATS against him, so it was spray and pray.

Can't wait to see whats next...

How do you tell if it is a male Brahmin or a female Brahmin? Strong is always asking for 'Milk of human kindness'. I have plenty of empty milk bottles but don't want to try milking the wrong Brahmin.

As an avid user of mods, Im used to updates and patches breaking the game for me.  All par for the course.

But what was the whole point of the patch yesterday?   Save to exit or some such.  Whatever.

Hopefully the new version of F4SE is up today and I can get back out there and maybe finish this game before Christmas.

Vanilla games didn't get broken.  Just those of us running mods that require F4SE.  It's all good now.  Usually Im at work when all of this happens and the fixes are posted up by the time I get home.

And they changed it for the Survival peeps so you can exit to save or something like that.

I'm not a heavy modder. I only have two mods installed. One gave me a few quests in new areas added to the map and rewarded me with some 'Rogunz' pistol and the other gave me a Mini Nuke Minigun.

Mini nuke minigun?     The original doesn't do enough damage for you!?

I came across that mod again the other day, so I spent a moment just looking at the screen graphic shaking my head.

It's just a tad bit on the overkill side of things. I bought the Big Boy Legendary Mini Nuke Launcher from the merchant in Diamond City that launches two Mini Nukes at the same time. That is plenty for almost every enemy on the map. I just got the Minigun mod for shock value. It does take a whille to 'spin up'.

In the Bethesda Fallout games I don't use the miniguns that much.  I think just because of their bulk and that "spin up" they need.  Same with the Fat Boy.  I think I gave up on that weapon because I had a tendency to blow myself up as well.

In the first two (three) I used them all the time.  I especially liked it when you could catch the guys lined up.  Target the guy at the very back and hit the fire button.

I'd like to get that Legendary Explosive Minigun but it is hard to find. The ammo for the Minigun is plentiful which is one of the few appealing things about them for me. They're really not accurate at all and the spinup time is ridiculous. I have a Gatling Laser with awesome damage abilities but it too is hampered with a stupid way too long time to spin up.

Yeah, the explosive mini gu is my go-to. You can air juggle people and launch them way in the sky. You just have to be cautious in close quarters as the explosions can do damage to yourself. I left Fo4 installed and will await Nuka world. Until then, I started Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. I miss the RPG elements and the story is so confusing but I'm still having fun.
