I finally found Piper with her caravan. I made MacReady get out of his Power Armor, dismissed him to Sanctuary, and immediately hooked up with Piper clad in Power Armor. Ha-ha!

Nope, he was always whining and snivelling about "we're gonna split this up, right"? He seemed too much like a laid back stoner. When Piper and I passed Covenant the Mayer showed up red in VATS so I killed him. Everybody got mad and started shooting at me including Piper. IDK, I thought he might be a Synth and VATS was warning me. I had to load a previous save to get things back to normal except for having to suffer through that heart-to-heart chat with Piper. You were right about MacReady always wanting another cigarrette. I even gave him his own stash from the vending machines. I'll travel with MacReady again after I romance Piper. I like that headshot accuracy perk you get from him. I already forgot what Piper gives me. I know there are some quests at Diamond City concerning the Mayor that I need Piper to get.

Just doing some reading about the DLC to be released in "May". Apparently it will need Valentine as a companion to complete it. So that makes it official (as some have noted) that companions don't die.

I fragged everybody in Covenant and Piper helped me do it.  So this proves something at least.

Move the bodies down to the river and leave them there. The bodies will still produce goodies.

But that was just to get the bodies out of the town so I could start developing it when you turn it into a settlement.   

We can't have our new settlers stumble across a bullet ridden body.
 
I pretty much forgot about them after that.  I did note that they never went away.   There was always a pile of corpses down by the river.

 
That place is small for sure. And one needs the space to build.
 
Something that I have learned is to move all the bodies out of the area immediately after the battles. Don't need any of that trash to make it a permanent spot.
 
Return often and gather the booty but if your luck is like mine, more often than not you will drop into a battle.

I gave Macready the Broadsider. This definitely brings out the thunder for him.

I let him keep a lot of things but the Broadsider stays with me. LOL   I upgraded the snots out of it too. I almost scrapped it in the Weapons Workbench more than once since it isn't a Legendary weapon.

To me, the broadsider gives off more of a "bang" rather than a "boom". So it could be "safer" for us to allow the NPCs use it compared to them wielding a rocket launcher or a fatman.

I think the Broadsider and the Railway Rifle are way too much fun to let someone else use. I love nailing body parts to a wall with railway spikes. Just seeing a head stuck to a wall with a spike in it makes me giggle. Sorry, I can't help myself sometimes.

Between the minigun and the broadside, it's too close to tell. Just to be able to fire off close 300 rounds a minute is just as exciting as firing off a cannon.
The syringe rifle is just boring to say the least. It's like watching a man mow his grass on a tractor.

Is it as fun as the gatling lasers in the original Fallout?  
 
I loved automatic weapons in the original Fallout games because if you got a bunch of idiots in a line, you could go into VATS, target the one in the back and then fire.  The gatling guns would chew through everyone in front of that guy.   Automatic weapons were good for one or two, but the gatling gun and laser would get them all.

The best glitch I have seen in this game is a female NPC floating upwards to another floor level at a settlement, and the going to her bed to go to sleep.

I keep killing both Toms, the real one and the Synth one. No sense in taking chances. Can't say how many times I have run into these two. Sometimes the real Tom has already been killed by the Synth replacement Tom. Another doofus I keep running into is that geek selling credit cards. No matter what I decide he calls me a Retard so I just kill him right off the bat any more. He keeps coming back from the dead though. Maybe he was a quintuplet or something. Definitely Zombie material. That sucker just won't stay dead.

Your first 5 Sanctuary settlers are set to essential.  There's on in particular who can't seem to keep their mouth shut (and no, it's not Preston) and ends up annoying me on a regular basis.  So... They get a bullet in the head.  Or the kneecap because it's actually more satisfying to see them limping about for a while.
 
There are quite a few out there that are essential.

Must be Trashcan Carla. She can't be assigned anything either. I think this is a situation where a cage might come in handy. LOL

The only Carla in Sanctuary that I can think of is the trader Carla and she's not under player control.   
 
Nick and the others don't annoy me that much.  The two that I would like to put in a sound deadened cage is the married couple.  One doesn't stop whining and the other doesn't stop being a ... well a really annoying individual.  She's the one that routinely gets a bullet.  Does it solve anything?  Nope.   Does it make me happier.  Absolutely.   Does it ever shut her up?  Sadly, no.

Trashcan Carla was / used to be a roaming vendor until I started some Sanctuary quest or crossed paths with her. Now she seems like a permanent fixture in Sanctuary though she is supposed to travel between Sanctuary and some diner where the dope dealers hang out. http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Trashcan_Carla
 

I like to buy my bullets from the diner. From time to time those dope dealers drop some stuff that's sellable.

I knew/know who she was.  I think what makes her show up is when you start doing the mini quests to build beds and stuff in Sanctuary.
 
  And yeah, she seems to hang around Sanctuary alot.  Before the 1.3 patch her brahmin would end up on the roof of the house that had all the tool benches.   I didn't actually know about that little diner until I restarted the game, then I managed to find it.  Killed the dope dealer.  Figured guns, bullets and other items were better to have around than a dope dealer.
 

When I did the Diner quest I decided to make peace between the warring dealers and the diner's owner. That old lady had some Legendary weapon for sale. Don't remember what it was but I bought it anyway. Whenever I want something from the dealer I give him my chems in exchange during the transaction and take all of his caps away. I do that to all of the venders. I select 'Barter' and then sell him whatever I don't want or need until he has no caps left. I got a mean streak when it comes to venders I guess.
