This is one problem, I have noticed. If you send someone out on a supply line, it's very hard to find them.

Companions are essential and cannot be killed, so she's out there somewhere.

Are you sure about that? I was under the impression that (according to Bethesda) Dog Meat was the only one that can't be killed. Did they change this?

This is one problem, I have noticed. If you send someone out on a supply line, it's very hard to find them.

Yes, you can do that. I have done it already.

I did the console command and no Piper. The only time a companion can't be killed is when they are travelling with you, I think. I found a 'resurrect' command to bring an enemy back so you can kill it agin. Maybe it'll work on Piper. I just hope she is not a Zombie and starts eating Settlers.

The game was acting all weird yesterday so I verified the cache and haven't tried it again yet. Everything froze while I was in my Pip-Boy. I'm feeling guilty about having to kick Preston to the curb. First I have to take his Power Armor away from him.

What I do to "avoid" that is put them at the Castle. Makes them feel like they're doing something. Or, if you want them to "feel" (does that actually happen?) put them at the settlements that get raided the most. Then they'll think they're reliable.

Do not give Cait a rocket launcher. Biggest mistake of your life. About that, I gave up on Cait. SHe complains way too much, she doesn't like it when I take on quests, she doesn't like it when I take in some Jet. I dropped her off at the Castle, and took on Macready. Honestly, he's quiet, won't complain, will do what you tell him, will shoot what you tell him to shoot. The only thing I hear him say is that "he needs a cigarette". Plus, the 20 point chance to headshot in VATS is nice too. And no, no "wild side"... no bromancing, just straight bros killing anyone that gets in our way.
 
Oh ya, Macready doesn't care if you use any of the "substances" in the game. Macready does not like travelling at night.

If MacReady is celibate that would be enough of a perk right there for me to travel with him. That 'Romance' option that came up in the dialogue with Preston still gives me the creeps.

Cait knew how to handle a shotgun though. I'll give her that.

I think that is only for Settlers. I remember Cait always requesting some ammo if I found some but when I looked she had a ton of it. I did have to give her a specific caliber she was out of since she's too stupid to switch weapons. Yes, she was vicious with a shotgun. Raiders and Super Mutants alike didn't stand a chance against Cait with a shotgun.

I can attest that you "can" romance Macready. If you don't, then he will be soft, and then at that point you're bros from there.

 Cait would show up with her shotgun if you were having a bro'mantic evening with Macready on the highway.

If you leave them with their default weapon they have infinite ammo. Any other weapon will consume ammo as used. I still want to see if I am allowed to pull their default, mod it, give it back, and retain infinite ammo.
 
I have the ammo crafting mod and it is great, pretty balanced, not needing 3 steel and 2 acid to make 50 mini nukes lol

I just hooked up with MacReady and before we left I checked his inventory. He didn't even have a pocket knife. I had to equip him with everything and then dress him up by putting some armor on him. I don't think he would have done well in combat and it would have taken me more than a few Stimpacks to figure out what the problem was. I have him pilfering guns and ammo from corpses and he is worse than me about leaving them naked in the street. At least I let them keep their longjohns just for the sake of the children who might have to see them laying there.

That's what is so great about Macready. He doesn't care about anything, and he's definitely not going to care about someone's long johns. hahaha

I finally found Piper with her caravan. I made MacReady get out of his Power Armor, dismissed him to Sanctuary, and immediately hooked up with Piper clad in Power Armor. Ha-ha!

Didn't even give him a chance.
