Sounds like you have a chameleon armor piece. They work great for sneaking but they seem to glitch when you open your pip boy. I have learned to move and open at the same time or stand and open my inventory. I have one arm chameleon and one leg sprinter and it's a pretty sweet combo.

I've noticed now that when I crouch in sneak mode, I go invisible like the stealth boy.

It kinda goes in and out of the stealth mode?  Is this a glitch?  I've never noticed this before and it just started doing it.

I've only got 1 perk for stealth which only says I'm 30% harder to detect.

Have you tried verifying your cache? Also, are you wearing any type of armor that will give you stealth mode?

What is verifying cache?
I'll have to check my armor, that could be it.

In Steam, go to your game library, select Fall Out 4, Then Right click on Fall Out 4, new window will appear, then scroll down to Properties, Left click on Properties, new window will appear, look in the new window for Local Files at the top of that window, Click on Local Files, scroll down the list to VERIFY Integrity. click on that and the rest will continue from there.

Yeah, Kent was the radio broadcaster of the Silver Shadow radio station but he didn't make it. I would ask for a moment of silence as we remember poor Kent and thank him for his contribution to my inventory as his bared naked corpse lies decomposing in the basement of that hospital. LOL I did let him keep his underwear.

The drive in theater settlement... I could not understand why that little pond in the middle was giving off radiation. Well I did, but I could not figure out how to fix it. I finally realized yesterday that I could destroy the radiation barrels. How stupid I felt . I'm designing a base which is built around the pond. Built a water pump which gives 40 points to your water source. It's looking awesome.

I found that out a while back also. Have you picked the perk that allows you to breath under water? You'll need it as there are more settlement areas that you can clean the water around them and gain scrap for building.

Hmmm... I was not aware that I would be going underwater. I'll check it out the next time I level.

I'll try and not spoil it here. Some of your settlements that are partially on bodies of water will have, in some cases, their borders that will extend in the water. What is below the surface of that water, within the borders, you can scrap. Hopefully you get what I am talking about.

Clearly I haven't finished the game fully, it looks like. I have noticed though when you clear out a building, all you have to do is come back the next day, and items will reappear. I can't confirm if they're the same items, but they do come back.
I'll give it a whirl at other sites that have "water".

I must have his twin brother then because he is present at his office at the radio station. LOL

Apparently not. There is a lot of stuff under water but you really need the perk to breath under water to make it less tedious.

At one of the settlements (Covenent) if you do it right you can gain a lot of items from dead bodies as they keep replenishing over a short period of time. I found that by accident.

Working my way back through the story line.   Used the dog to locate a certain person hiding in a military base.  Went back and got the power armor.   Everybody ran away.

I could get used to this.  Though it is mildly annoying having to chase them down so I could club them over the head.

FO 4 has an automatic last place indicator for power armor that is logged on your pipboy. Knowing this you could always step out of your power armor and see if they would come back and party with you. LOL

Thanks whiskers54.  As soon as I posted that I realized what it was, I had to do this once with the Witcher 3.

I do have a couple chameleon armor pieces so that could be it, I'm going to verify tonight.  On a side note I just picked up Cait...now I see what everyone was talking about!  Only problem is I've stacked my lone wanderer perk and am so used to being able to carry a ton of weight, I think my baseline is like 445.
Now if I travel with a companion it cuts that in half so I gotta figure out what to store.
What happens if I store my weapons mods?  Does that take away from my guns I've created?  I know that's kind of a stupid question but I have a boatload of weapons mods that I need to figure out what to dump.

No.  You won't lose the mods.  You can use the mods to reapply it to the weapon if you want to return to that particular mod.  Also, I think you can apply that mod to another weapon of the same type.

@Stalin.  I keep forgetting to mention this.   My second card is actually clocking higher in the game than my first card.

I was wondering the same thing. I think I read somewhere that the same is true with the magazines; Once you have them, you gain that perk and you can put them wherever. One thing I wish was that there was a footlocker or box that acted the same as resources in the workshops. Where I can store say, a mini-gun in a box at Red Rocket and have access to it in Sanctuary or at any other settlement. It wouldn't be very realistic but neither is being able to carry around 112 cannon balls and a dozen other guns like I am now.

If you store the mini-gun in the workshop bench and all of your settlements are joined by a trade route than you should be able to have access to it in all your joined settlements.

I should start modding my extra weapons that I take off of the corpses or find on the ground back to their basic configuration before I scrap them. I wish I had thought of that sooner. I can always make more mods. After I finished the Silver Shadow quest I parted ways with Hancock. IDK if I reached max affinity with him or not. I don't even know what the perk he gives you is or how to check and see if I have it. I am travelling with Preston Scurvey now. I even gave him a brand new set of X-01 Mod III Power Armor we found stashed in the Fort Hagen Raider lair. I noticed I only have 4 missions to complete and I am not getting any more from any of the factions. They must be mad at me or something. I ran across Tom fighting the Synth Tom for the third time. Synth Tom killed the real Tom before I got there so I killed the other Tom who was running away. I shot him in the back, my bad, and discovered he had a Synth component. I need to find some new missions or quests before Armegeddon starts. All I have to do is beam into The Institute and kill someone to get that started but I'm not ready yet. There must be something I'm missing.

omg.... I just got into the biggest gun fight of all time on Fallout 4. Can't remember where it was at, somewhere outside of Diamond city, probably about 2 cities over... It involved about 15 regular NPCs, and about 5 legendries. I had to constantly dodge them and dodge the gun fire, and then they got me stuck in a little shop where 3-4 were charging me with their melee, using machetes, pole sticks, and bats. Meanwhile, the guys on the roofs were throwing their grenades and Molotovs while I was trying to dodge the guys attacking me. I had to constantly use Buffout, mentats, jet, med-x, psycho, and stims to keep up. My companion wasn't in any better shape than I was. He had an NPC in power armor to worry about with 3 other guys just machine gunning him down. It was so bazaar, flipping between my bolt action, shotgun and grenades, it seemed like they just kept coming. It got overwhelming though, and saw I only had less than 1/8 of a health left. I knew it was coming to the end, though, as the last opponent I was attacking was firing back at me on the street (While being a Legendary NPC...just my luck, as I had little health left), but alas, I finally went down. So many drops and so many unique items were to be found.
Loudest gunfight I have been in. Survival is the way to go.

But you would also lose caps in the process by changing them back to a standard weapon.

I still have to do the Silver Shadow Quest. I have the quest items already. I need to clean up my inventory.

I wonder what would happen if you launched a few missiles into the BOS blimp from the ground. That would probably create a wanted dead poster. LOL

At that level you are getting bounced around pretty good. I figured you would fair better than that in survival mode.

After the beta for survival is released as a patch there will be weight on bullets. That would kill me.

Why would I lose caps? I'm only taking my guns apart and then scapping them for materials. The BOS has those Vertibirds too. If you nailed their Prydwen with a missile you would have a chance to see a lot of them at the same time.

I don't even scrap my weapons.  I stock them all up and then barter them off for stuff that I need.  Like hard to find ammo.  Same goes with clothing/armor and other items.  I'll pack rat them up and then barter them off when the vendor restocks.

Granted, last playthrough I was using the console a bit too much.  I got tired of chasing all over the Commonwealth trying to find that "one" material that I needed to finish a mod.   This time, we're showing much more restraint, so that means I'll be chasing all over the Commonwealth looking for that one material.

I am not one to cheat or use console commands too much but I have overloaded myself a few times with 600 pounds of stuff and I didn't want to waddle to a settlement. "coc RedRocketEXT" was my best friend a few times.

level 61 now. I spawned in Warwick homestead only to spawn where 13 super mutants were going to raid. I got toast pretty harshly.
Doesn't it just get harder and harder the higher level you are? I thought that was the case.

When I want a Legendary weapon only available from a vendor I tend to unload that rubbish Raider Power Armor pieces I am carrying to bring the price down. I can't believe anyone would pay for that Raider junk but business is business I guess. I also sell my almost spent Fusion Cores since a drained one with just a little bit of life left in it gets just as much as a fully charged one.

I normally scrap my weapons and just sell ammo I don't ever use, and then buy ammo that I need.

But you would also lose caps in the process by changing them back to a standard weapon.

Why would I lose caps? I'm only taking my guns apart and then scapping them for materials. The BOS has those Vertibirds too. If you nailed their Prydwen with a missile you would have a chance to see a lot of them at the same time.

My bad. I was thinking that you were selling them for caps, not actually scrapping then.

Granted, last playthrough I was using the console a bit too much.  I got tired of chasing all over the Commonwealth trying to find that "one" material that I needed to finish a mod.   This time, we're showing much more restraint, so that means I'll be chasing all over the Commonwealth looking for that one material.

This is what I do also. I will save some special weapons and armor for future usage but for the most part I sell it. I don't think there is anything that can't be found while exploring.

I am not one to cheat or use console commands too much but I have overloaded myself a few times with 600 pounds of stuff and I didn't want to waddle to a settlement. "coc RedRocketEXT" was my best friend a few times.

When you get a certain perk you can fast travel to where ever. You can also run when carrying extra weight but that will cost you AP during the run.

I just make a legendary weapons if I don't like the ones I find.   It's not something I do very often though.  It typically requires a lot of hard to find material to create one.  On top of that, I don't often use the ones I find because I can usually mod a weapon that can do better damage that most of the legendary weapons I find.

Level 59
No weight on ammo.

At that level you are getting bounced around pretty good. I figured you would fair better than that in survival mode.

After the beta for survival is released as a patch there will be weight on bullets. That would kill me.

level 61 now. I spawned in Warwick homestead only to spawn where 13 super mutants were going to raid. I got toast pretty harshly.
Doesn't it just get harder and harder the higher level you are? I thought that was the case.

For me it seems to be getting easier. I'll take a death claw out face to face in short order. That giant super mutant is fairly easy now also. I don't know what it's like for survival mode though.

It also depends on the weapon of choice. I use the assault rifle for the tough fights or when there are a lot of them. I also use the 45 CAL sniper rifle as the primary.
