OH, it still really is. Running mine on a Corsair HXI 850W. Been testing and OCing it as much as I can with that 400W power limit. Hopefully we will get a firmware update soon.

What OC did you manage to get? Does it go up to 2100 like the strix?

It varies on the actual program. But with Port Royal and Superposition it was +1400 Memory - +110 Core. Time Spy and others was about the same at around +1000 Memory and +80ish on core. It is really starving for more power, it really is.... The card can clearly do a lot more.. No, it's not hitting 2100, not enough power to hold it in the normal benchmarks... Like Time Spy etc. The card is crippled at just 400W, it really needs 450W or more....

Viper97 Three things... 1. Always make sure you don't have a lot of misc. stuff that's not need. Like oh I don't know coupon savers in the background. 2. Get rid of stuff, get to cleaning out pop up blockers, underwear hiders etc. 3. Delete old drivers. Okay 4. Stop complaining because your stuff is so full of stuff it causes conflicts. I've never had a problem with a new release of hardware because I keep my system free of junk.
Funny guy. Too bad you dont know what I actually do for a living. You work at best buy? Let's see, I built computers since the days of DMA channels and IRQ's, yeah I'm that old. Currently a certified Microsoft Administrator, Security Plus, A+ and more than I want to remember, I do 40 CEU's a year in my field. Guess which one?

Has anyone asked you to look at your system logs for an error code yet? Open your event viewer (just search for it in the windows search bar) and look for any critical errors. Let us know what comes up.

Hello all! I received my EVGA 3080 FTW3 Ultra Gaming yesterday in the mail and was so excited to install it. At install, I was using 1 daisy chain power cable and 1 single power cable. All 3 8-pin slots were plugged in and given power. I downloaded the latest drivers (456.71) and installed them as well. After getting everything squared away, I opened Path of Exile and started playing. After about 5 minutes of playing, my PC all of a sudden shut off and restarted by itself. No BSOD, no other warnings. I opened everything back up again on my PC and started PoE again. Same thing happened. PC restarted by itself. I ended up playing CoD:MW for a few minutes to see if it would do it again and it never did. I had the settings turned all the way up as well. Fast forward to later that evening and I was playing Phasmophobia with a few friends. No issues for quite a few rounds and then all of a sudden my PC restarted again. That was all yesterday evening. I did some searching around and saw suggestions of plugging my PSU directly into the wall, using 3 single power cables for the GPU, as well as reseating the GPU. I did all of those this morning. I started PoE again this morning to see what would happen and my PC restarted as soon as I tried to teleport at a waypoint. I know I am not the only one with this issue, but I am so beyond frustrated with this. I am replacing my trusty EVGA 1080Ti FTW3 which I have had no issues with. I have used EVGA 750w PSUs in my previous builds and haven't encountered any other issues. My PC is all new parts as of just a couple months ago. I have checked Windows Event Log as well and I get multiple critical errors when my PC restarts itself (Event ID 41, Kernel-Power, Critical). After reading through this thread, it does seem that the GA PSU could be the culprit. Though I just wanted to get some other opinions or suggestions as I know this is a fairly common issue. Please let me know if I can provide any other info. I would try downclocking/undervolting the gpu to see if it keeps happening... if it remains stable its probably your psu.

Yeah, I think I will try that before looking at replacing the PSU. I have the new Precision X for the 30 series cards. Is downclocking something I can do in that program easily? I really don't have any experience with OCing.

Not sure about precision but it is pretty easy in Afterburner. Not sure if i can post links here but here goes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o1B4qZFDpYE i would just try on the 800/900mv and see if it still reboots like that. As that should reduce power to 250 to 300 watts.

So I did a -50 MHz underclock in the Precision software and played PoE again. So far so good actually. I'm wondering if thats all I needed? I will look at upgrading to a 1000w PSU soon though.

Could very well be the case tbh.... i would guess it is your psu that is the issue. Probably want to play a bit longer just to see if things remain stable.... if a -50mhz did it your psu might just be on the very edge of stability. Hell i was going to undervolt my 3080 FTW once it gets here just because running it at 1900mhz on 925mv seems to reduce the power by almost 100 watt and makes the card run at 55/60c https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B9HNoKLNHpA& Not like i need more power at 1440p.

Hey guys, Sorry had to step away from this for a bit. Gets frustrating :) Yes it seems its my PSU. I have no problem getting a new one. I can always sell the other. My current one is only 6 months old. I traced some of the issues with overclocking my i9 9900k. Was not stable at 5.0GHz for some reason. Changed it to 5.1GHz and its better. Kinda weird. Still getting some shutdowns, but not nearly as often. Only when im trying to push the card a little bit with 3DMark. My memory was rated for my motherboard so that was not the issue. I might get a 1000W just to be safe. I took at look at the recommendations Jankerson said worked. But I cant find ANY of those in stock. Thanks everyone who responded! Ill get her nailed down! Cheers!

jankersonThe ones we know work are, so far: EVGA G2, P2, T2; Corsair RMX, RMI, HX, and HXI.
My 750GQ has been fine with my 3080 FTW3U, but I am looking to upgrade it. I actually bought an RM850x last week, but it died in 2 days and was a pain to work with the included cables with my case anyways. Is there a condensed discussion that you know of anywhere about which PSUs are getting tripped by Ampere? I haven't been able to find one; just casual mentions about a few that do around the internet.

I'm having the same issue with my 3080 FTW3 Ultra. I have a 850w GA 80+G MF ATX I just bought. My CPU is an i9-10850k which is currently overlocked. I bumped the gpu down 50MHz in afterburner and it seemed to work on initial testing last night. Was able to play Assassin's Creed for 20 mins without a crash. Will do more testing tonight after work. I'm not opposed to switching my 850 for a 1000 if that is the actual problem.

I am also having problem exactly like this for my 3090FTW3 Ultra. I have a Seasonic Titanium 850Watt PSU. It only happens when I overclock with power slider maxed out to 107%, and so far it only happens in Metro Exodus. All benchmark seems fine. Symptom is just as many has described: PC suddenly turns off, then reboots. In event manager it shows Event ID 41, Kernel-Power 63. So what, I am going to need a 1000Watt PSU to power the 3090 now?? My UPS does show the at heavy GPU duty the system draws around 700Watt

I have the 3090 FTW3 Ultra as well. OC Clock +100, OC Mem +750. I have a 1000 Corsair PSU. On my APC, it has an option to show current wattage. Doing a benchmark, I see it cross the 900 line fairly often. I've not seen it go above 907. Without OC, the highest I've seen it hit was 793. I personally would reccomend the new Evga 1300 PSU they just released. That's my plan for when I upgrade either when Zen 3 numbers come out, or in March when intel numbers come out. Running 9900KS @ 5.3 as well.

I'm in the same boat, but I'm waiting for more answers before running out to get a 1000w. Maybe it is something that can be fixed with a firmware update. Everything I read prior to buying and building my PC said 850 should be more than enough.

Wow that's crazy. I'm going to have to upgrade my psu it sounds like. My new case can take two psu's so maybe I should just get a 650 for the cpu and dedicate my platinum 850 to the gpu.

If I overclock my VRAM to +1000 on my 3090 FTW3 with no 3D load at all, my computer reboots itself - on a EVGA 1600 watt T2 power supply. So, you're likely pushing your card too far for the game (and if you enabled RTX in Metro Exodus, the game is using parts of the GPU that are otherwise turned off for non-RTX games and benchmarks - which means stability testing with RTX is needed). You could verify this by lowering the CPU overclock and testing the GPU again with the same game/OC.

Whats the power draw when running Prime95? Curious how much your cpu is munching.
