Ok, it was the XMP profile of the RAM. I entered all the XMP settings manually instead of using the profile, and everything is 100% sweet once again. No more crashing!

My 48 hrs is up for getting back to my normal sleep habits and... going to be finally... INSTALLING MY FTW3 Ultra 3090 2day. w00t!!!! (Got it delivered 8 days ago.lol)
 
my baskets and eggs are all organized and all Ducks in order... i got a big old install checklist made; as if going to the Moon it is! LOL but hey, these things cost a kidney and a-half and will take a Half-Life to pay off. So, being careful is the word!

So weird, after the latest windows updates today the games are starting to constantly crash yet once again and I didn't change any settings for RAM, CPU or the GPU at all.

So I decided to drop the RAM frequency from 3600 to 3200 for now as a test, and that once again seems to stop the crashing.

But I am starting to get baffled by this issue now because I gamed for about 8hrs over 2 days with the RAM speed @ 3600 just a few days ago without a single crash then it just started crashing again, mostly after the windows update.

Sounds like u need a PSU-Gremlin Exorcist! Swap ur PSU.
 
Also, keeping last Windows Update in mind as possible affecting things would be wise.
 
In addition, another BIOS setting may need tweaking or just a revamp of protocols involving resetting CMOS/Load Optimal/Save/Tweak/Save. But first swap/test whether ur PSU is at fault for the problems/inconsistency(s). 
 
Would be helpful for ppl reading this thread to know ur Make and Model# of MOBO, CPU, and RAM and PSU?

Edit: Add Hardware to ur Sig and also include Video Diver version (usually wouldn't but would be helpful because of this being a new vid card series).
 
Edit: my previous Vid cards, GTX1080-ti SLI, had the exact same problems ur having now. But, as soon as i swapped out the PSU the problems went away. GL

Is there a way I can test if the PSU is faulty. I don't really want to buy another high end PSU if my current one is not at fault.

shop for a backup PSU that is on sale. Amazon, NewEgg and local retail. i bet u can spend a little time everyday for about three days u'll find a great price for a reputable PSU. 
 
If u use it and if no probs occur for 8 hrs then 16 hrs then 1 day then two days then four days all with no probs; then u can just explain to EVGA that u want to RMA ur EVGA PSU because the successful use of test PSU. And they should approve it. Then just put the RMA unit in.

My situation was different, I got a crash to desktop and then black screen which the card never came back from.  The question I have is did you PC run ok with the previous video card? if so then it more than likely the video card.  I would RMA it. 

Well my previous card, 2080 Ti sea hawk x would also have random crashed with my current setup but nowhere near as frequently, would only happen maybe once a month?

Seems stable at 3400 aswell, no crashing in 10hrs of gaming.

Good to see you got it handled. I only do bios if it’s a problem I’m having directly related to issue. Changing bios creates a moving target as bios can create crashes that may not have happen before.

Keep the temps lower and you should be good to go !

I'm lucky enough to be able to confirm that the crashing is indeed inherent to the FTW3 Ultra 3090 as I have now run both the FTW and the Strix 3090. Within an hour of gaming, the FTW started crashing and was reaching temps of 80C with no overclocking. Of course I have adequate cooling and a brand new titanium 1000W Corsair PSU, but without another card it was really hard to say what the issue was. Thankfully I purchased my FTW from MicroCenter so I was able to return it for a full refund, and as of this morning, I can confirm a few things after installing the Strix 3090:
1. No crashing whatsoever, overclocking and stock
2. The temps don't go over 67C with the exact same setup
3. Now that I have a reference point, I can tell you the FTW is extremely loud, and much hotter than the Strix
 
I'm not posting this to hate on EVGA at all. I wanted to love the card. I am just thankful that I wasn't stuck with it. Don't give up on the 3090's guys, there are good cards out there.

Yeah honestly after reading all the forums and troubleshooting for days I felt like I had a dud.. I hope all the others out there don’t experience the same. For the premium we’re paying the 3090 owners should ideally experience no issues.

I wonder because of demand the products have been rushed, therefore QA has gone out the window?  For such an expensive kit you would expect better, but then on the other hand its also a very complex piece of kit.  Glad your Strix is going well for you!!

*PROBLEM FIXED* :)

Ok guys, can confirm 100% fixed now, just did some heavy gaming for about 5 hrs on many games, 0 crashes!
Boosted to 1950MHz, temps around 65-72°C under load.

Solution was simple, it was either one of these two thing I did, not sure which one was the actual fix:

1. Updated motherboard BIOS. Mine was over 8 months out of date. Not sure how I let that one slip, i usually keep everything up-to-date.

2. Updated windows version to 20H2 via Update assistant because the automatic windows update did not go up to this version.

Thanks to everyone helping out here, I am so glad I don't have to RMA the card!

I was having the same crashing issue with my kingpin 3090... couldn't get more then 5min into any game.
