Just recieved this card yesterday and am very upset already because games are constantly crashing to desktop with atleast one BSOD aswell so far. My temps seem to be fine @ 75°C max under load and clock speeds are out of the box around 1800-1900 MHz tops. I have the latest 457.09 drivers and I thought the crashing shenanigans have been addressed weeks ago with driver updates. But my card is crashing like no tommorow in PUBG and Remenant from The ashes game, where as the MSI 2080 Ti I had just prior to installing the 3090 was running crash-free for almost 2 yrs. So is anyone else experiencing tons of crashing like this still? Or do I have a dud card and need to RMA? Is it possible I did not sit the card fully into the PCIe slot because when I was installing this card into the PCIe slot, it felt like the left side of the GPU PCIe connection pins did not fully seat down into the slot. I applied a fair amount of pressure to make sure it would go all the way in. What do you guys rekon?

Start with some basic troubleshooting steps here: https://forums.evga.com/B...mode-etc-m2504606.aspxAlso full system specs would really help. PSU, custom cables used? 3 individual PCIE power cables to the card?, overclocked or stock (GPU, CPU, RAM running over JDEC (2133 typically, 2400 for newer platforms), etc.

Just to provide another tidbit of info, I'm on 456.71 on my 3090 FTW3 Ultra. Running offsets +100 / +900 and I'm getting clocks that fluctuate between 2025-2070 MHz @ 68-73°C. Runs great on Modern Warfare. I had some freezing/crashing the first night I installed it. Shut it down, and from the next day never experienced another issue... Stock 9900K, EVGA G3 1000W PSU, stock cables, one 8pin and one 2x-8pin for the GPU, 3600Hz RAM Probably will copy this bit into the general 3090 thread as well so others have this data point.

Trying cranking up all your system fans and card fans to max and maybe open your case and see if that helps.

Mine crashed once. It idled at 50. I think it was 70-80 in games too. After I maxed the fans (2) on CPU radiator, (2) exhaust top and rear, and the GPU fans, it idles in the low 30s and and games at 50-70 depending on the situation (@1440p, max settings, stock clocks). Oh and it doesn't crash.

So it's possible these cards are just unstable at higher than 75°C or so? I think that is weak if that is the case. Anyways, I will give higher fan speeds a shot tonight.

Could be, but I think they just need a lot of air/cooling out of the gate.

Today I have -tried the evga Normal and OC Bios updates for FTW3 Ultra 3090. -checked event viewer, nothing for the time of each crash -reverted to previous 456.71 drivers -underclocked the GPU by 100MHz Nothing is working. This card is constantly crashing every 5-15minutes of gaming. Also I noticed my card is drawing around 430W according to GPU-Z and I haven't increased the OC from factory. Will give this card to a friend to try on his machine on Monday.

If your friend has a good enough PSU and the card also crashes in that PC then submit an RMA.

check ur game file logs to see why its crashing the games //// also use the aggressive fan curve on x1 or create youre own on afterburner///////////aka had a problem crashing games after going to that newest driver and ddu . it had a error related to service pack 1 .i was on wv 1909 got pissed so updated to v2004 and went .71 driver no problems since .

Yes that one, strangely enough that BIOS produces less frequent crashes but still a crap load to live with. slapn check ur game file logs to see why its crashing the games //// also use the aggressive fan curve on x1 or create youre own on afterburner///////////aka had a problem crashing games after going to that newest driver and ddu . it had a error related to service pack 1 .i was on wv 1909 got pissed so updated to v2004 and went .71 driver no problems since .

*PROBLEM FIXED* :)
Ok guys, can confirm 100% fixed now, just did some heavy gaming for about 5 hrs on many games, 0 crashes! Boosted to 1950MHz, temps around 65-72°C under load.
Solution was simple, it was either one of these two thing I did, not sure which one was the actual fix:
1. Updated motherboard BIOS. Mine was over 8 months out of date. Not sure how I let that one slip, i usually keep everything up-to-date.
2. Updated windows version to 20H2 via Update assistant because the automatic windows update did not go up to this version.
Thanks to everyone helping out here, I am so glad I don't have to RMA the card!

excellent! congratz and keep reporting ur progress and fun ur having. i got my FW3 Ultra 3090 last Thursday but i'm too sleep deprived to touch it. (i never touch expensive computer hardware when i'm tired. i bet it's another 48 hrs 'till i'm back to normal. lol) i hope a few ppl can point out wat OP's mobo bios update ^^ and OP's Windows update ^^ may have done to fix the problems OP was having: A. [...games are constantly crashing to desktop with atleast one BSOD...] B. [...card is constantly crashing every 5-15minutes of gaming...] C. [...card is drawing around 430W according to GPU-Z and I haven't increased the OC from factory...] my guess is something(s) like PCI-E power and Windows recent changes to video optimization that started pre-RTX3000 series release. other suggestions would be cool to hear.

Maybe because these cards a PCIe gen4 cards and my super old MB BIOS was not up to scratch for the power draw of such a hungry card it may have caused some faults somewhere along that line?
Just a wild guess.
But anyways, definitely rock solid now! Upto 8 hrs of gaming crash free. And its boosting 1890-1980 all day. Happy days!

Strange, games are crashing constantly again only when I enable XMP profiles for memory (Trident Z DDR4 3600 C14 2x8GB)
But the crashing stops if I disable the XMP profiles.
Anyone know why this is?

You CPU IMC cannot handle it or the increased power draw is too much for whatever PSU that you have (which is doubtful, but possible).

And the RAM I have is rated for DDR4 3600 C14.
Quite, but your CPU's integrated memory controller might not be able to handle the XMP overclock. There might be some other voltages that you can increase for the CPU (other than VCORE) to make it stable. Or the RAM itself might require more voltage than the XMP profile sets (this one is less likely, but still possible).

Ok will check it out. But might try clearing the CMOS as another person mentioned on reddit which fixed this issue for them.

narrn001 Strange, games are crashing constantly again only when I enable XMP profiles for memory (Trident Z DDR4 3600 C14 2x8GB)
But the crashing stops if I disable the XMP profiles.
Anyone know why this is?
u've cleared enough hurdles so far that the Finish Line is in clear sight. i suggest for this stage of the Race, adding ur Hardware to ur Sig, so all can more easily surmise things; would be good strategy. i have same Brand System Memory and from experience, the XMP seemed to always work fine with maybe the exception of trying to change Command Rate (CR) from default 2T to 1T. Did u Load Optimal Defaults in BIOS/Save Exit/Go back in BIOS and Load XMP/Save Exit?

sry for the DP... but... ...if the MOBO BIOS update fixed things for awhile; and if clearing the CMOS doesn't get things working again; u may have to rely on manually setting System Memory Timings. At least as a test. Hopefully not permanently.
