This is the shroud set up on the right edge originally out of the package. I had a hard time to fit it in the PCB. This is the right set up after I found out the problem. The wrong setup can possibly damaged "FTW" icon LED header because the shroud pushes it too far away. Solution: Don't overwork your workers at the Chinese factory. They feel tired.

The LED works as FTW3 does. The backplate doesn't follow the "FTW3" LED but follows the front LED. Mine doesn't even have the "FTW3" icon, just some square white.

And I was thinking if it's possible to plug an AF12 directly into the PCB fan header since there's one left unused.

Okay nice, I just RMA'ed mine because the back plate would sometimes go off color when I put it to follow. Ex) the EVGA Hybrid logo would change to purple and the back stay green. And yes, I don't have the FTW3 logo either. It's just a white blank.

Have you ever tried to plug an external fan into the unused GPU fan header on the PCB?

No, I'm using my mobo fan 4 pin. None of my fans will fit that header. They're all 4 pins, I did order a 4-3 pin adapter since it takes a 3 pins.

There are mini GPU to 4 pin PWM fan headers that work. Finding them is a bit difficult. Mine came from moddiy.com. EK also offers one. https://www.ekwb.com/shop/ek-cable-pwm-fan-adapter-for-gpu-50cm

Can you replace the one that comes on the hybrid cooler kit with this?

The stock radiator fan runs off the same plug as the pump. I tucked the stock fan cable into the shroud to hide it, and ran this new cable from the unused plug, along the hoses to my new radiator fans. I can then control them from Precision.

What unused plug? The Y cable that connects to the heatsink fan headers on the GPU? I know one of the connectors aren't used as told from the manual.

FAN1 is unused with the stock hybrid settings. The pump and the stock radiator fan (2pin) run off the same cable connected to FAN2. So basically FAN2 has a cable that splits to power the fan and the pump. The cable I linked is just an adapter to allow you to power/control a case fan directly from the GPU.

Oh I see, Sweet. Thanks for the info. Will try this when I get my RMA hybrid kit. LEDs have not been working correctly.

Awesome, let me know how it goes for you. I bought my cable from moddiy, and it came with sheathing which made it much thicker than the stock 2 wire cable that comes out. I had to uncomfortably squeeze it between the hoses to keep the original look. I kind of wish I'd gotten the EK one at this point, since it's flat. There is some oddity with the speed % used by Precision and what is actually applied to the fan. I find that 70% in the software is really 100% to the fan, so I am curious if that happens with you as well.

Yeah, I actually ordered mine from amazon because of the time it'd take to get to my house from EK as well as price wise $14 for standard shipping and gets to my door by the 29th which is ridiculous. EK's cable seems to be longer and amazon's is also sleeved and shorter : https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005ZKZEQA/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I tried this one. It is really short, and won't reach out of the shroud, and doesn't seem to lock the fan cables plug well. A little tug and they separated, and I had to take the shroud off again. I just did a quick lookup and EK's is sold at performance PCS, you can get it for $3.99 + $5 USPS shipping (just bought one too). http://www.performance-pcs.com/ek-cable-pwm-fan-extension-50cm.html

Works great. Got my RMA hybrid kit and re-built my hybrid FTW3. Idle at 32C and doesnt go above 40C with 144hz max settings.

Possibly damaged "FTW" icon LED header because the shroud pushes it too far away icon LED is blank.

Does your backplate follow your logo LED ?
Hello, Just give to the comunity a big thanks, because this post save my problem ! I have excatly the same issues, when I use the precision XOC and I want change the clock range (despite is very small, like + 10) I always have this reaction = the computer freeze + black screen and the frequency always back at same original frequency of 1569 Mhz In June when I see this problem, I think the problem come from the software precision XOC, therefore I uninstall them, and I run my GC without OC until a friend show me this post. I see the post of SilentMarket (with the pictures that help a lot) I just dismantle the cover and realize that I have the problem of the metalic grid (is not mounting correctly by the chinese factory) and I place tape on the small area as suggered and MIRACLE my GC run perfectly now and I can OC more than 2100 Mhz ! that is great. Without your help no way I never find and that is so easy to resolve by our self without any RMA :-) Special thanks to SilentMarket ! Cheers,

Ah yes right on this case I have lucky that is not a permanent failure .... that give also the answer, not all cases or GC are definitively broked when you have this problem = a glimmer of hope remains possible :-)

Ah OK (I don't remember for me .... it's long time ago LOL) but with the pictures to help to mounting correctly that is better and yes your recommendation in fact to also place a protection tape on the full edge of this metalic grid (shroud) is very good thing to do.
