Wanted to get some Opinions,SMP client I5-750 3.4Ghz is acheiving 3900PPD while GPU0 GTS 250 is acheiving 4200PPD. I would think that my CPU would acheive a higher PPD then my gpu. My smp client is on a 6701 project and gpu0 is 6602 project. does it sound like everything is the way it's supposed to be?

Sounds right to me. For the most part, GPUs have higher PPD these days, except if you can get a high end CPU and -bigadv gets way more PPD.

I think its going to be very hard to get 250k a month. PS3 is running almost 24/7 plus my little 9k total PPD from my pc which cant be ran 24/7. I think its time to take my old pentium 4 and a new gpu for a 24/7 rig.

rjbelans The 40 min. may not be accurate for the current wu. Have you looked directly at the log file to see if it has updated? I got it to register the correct % complete. I shutdown the tracker and rebooted my system. When everything came back up and restarted, the % complete jumped from 39% to 51%. If all else fails, reboot! Thanks for the reply! I appreciate it.

Another tracker problem, I'm at work and noticed my rig was down so I had my wife fire it back up. When she clicked on the tracker shortcut, it disappeared. Gone. No where to be found, what could have caused this? I had her reboot the rig, no luck. It's not in the tray it's just gone. Well, I got home this morning and yes the icon was gone. Easy fix though but weird why it would disappear.

I have a few questions: I'm seeing 17k PPD from each of my 580's, is that about right? Also, would enabling SLI in the control panel increase the PPD or can I even have it enabled as I know some folding workload don't work if you have it enabled. I just want to make sure here about one other thing, SMP is basically the CPU right? Because I've noticed everyone's says the CPU is disabled despite knowing it isn't in the Setup.

Those numbers sound about right for stock clocks. SLI on/off should not affect your PPD, but some people have had problems when folding with SLI on. If it works fine with SLI on for you, you can have it whichever way you want. In Tracker, CPU folding refers to uniprocessor (single core) folding. Yes SMP is using the CPU, but with as many of the core as you tell it to use.

As far as the science goes, yes it's worth it. For you personally, you have to make that decision. Is it worth it to you to do them for the power that the unit uses. I believe I have heard that they get more like 1000-1100 PPD for most people.

Well of course, for science but I could easily sell these PS3 and buy another GPU that would earn many times the PPD I'd get with a single PS3 (or even multiple ones). I'm just trying to rationalize this is all.

You could start a new thread about it and solicit advice from other folders on it. Many people don't come into this thread too often and it's probably best not to hijack it for too long.

Alright. Just one more question, as it just occurred. One of my cards had a hiccup with the program, so I thought to restart and it got solved right away. Now though? My CPU isn't making any headway with the percentage and I am watching the PPD plummet despite all of my cores working at 100% according to WE.

Sounds like you are saying you restarted the computer? If so, did you stop all clients and exit Tracker before shutting down? And Do you have Tracker set to start any clients automatically?

1. Pretty sure I did, but I could be wrong. I walked away from my keyboard for a few minutes to use the lavatory once I hit restart. 2. As in start the program and begin running the tasks when Windows starts? No.

2. Or having clients start when you start the Tracker. It almost sounds like it is trying to run SMP folding twice at the same time. Can you stop all clients and wait for a bit (30 sec.). Then go into Task Manager and look at the processes to see if there are any FAH....exe or FahCore_...exe files still listed. If there are, you need to stop them by ending the FAH...exe processes, the FahCore ones should automatically disappear once the Fah ones are stopped. Then you should be able to start the clients in Tracker again. This could be caused by not shutting them down properly before the restart, or if you had past installations of F@H before you started to use Tracker that may be getting started on boot.

I was prompted today if I wanted to update to the newest version of the tracker, I opted yes and after it installed and I rebooted when I start the clients I get two command prompt windows opening one for the FAH GPU Tracker V2\FAH.EXE and one for FAH GPU Tracker V2\FAH_GPU3.EXE and it will not let me close they windows. When I try it closes and pops right back up with the normal boot-up info then shows [link=mailto:Folding@home]Folding@home[/link] Core shutdown: Client_Died. Can the Command Prompt windows be removed from coming up so that it is only the tracker running?

I currently get a wrong PPD prediction with my current 6900 bigadv workunit. I get a PPD of 4,914 but HFM correctly shows it as 44,000 PPD. This didn't happen with my previous 6900 workunit and restarting the tracker doesn't change it. I love the program and will always use it to setup and run my clients but I hope the PPD can be fixed.

Jedi... Little problem. So far the whole thing is working great, but I noticed that when my first SMP done. I got 8955 Point, but client stats shows that I have generated 64.854 points on SMP. (only 8955 is correct) I think that counting my points that time, it someway counted to my SMP and GPU points also to SMP totals. All Clients showing 157k, while my GPU stats are 92.388 points GPU 92388 + SMP 8955 are the correct points.

Also, the reason the SMP points show more than expected is because of bonus points. There is absolutely no way to tell if a user is eligible for bonus points so the Tracker assumes that all WUs returned within the deadline will receive bonus points.

Version 3.47 has been released. This version corrects a number of issues with psummary and the Tracker's own internal projects list. The most significant problems include bonus points calculation being applied to WUs that don't have bonus points and the last line of psummary being ignored.
