Hi Guys, Can anybody tell me how i can utilize the second gpu on my gtx 295? Apparently you need an SLI hack or something? Thanks.

What? How is it disabled? Which GTX 295 do you have, Dual PCB or Co-op?

Well it could be a number of things. In a lot of benchmarks, the CPU weighs heavily in the score, such as 3D Mark 06. If you're running a pentium 4, that'd be why. Other users may be running their cards at a high overclock as well. What kind of system are you running?

This are my specs: i3 540 4gb DDR3 1333 ram gigabyte P55A-UD3 motherboard 150gb velociraptor drive EVGA gtx 295 co-op I dont think the gfx card is pulling off enough grunt. I downloaded the evga precision tool and "linked" the first and second gpu together and it lagged my benchmark like crazy.

the GTX 295 Coop has a GTS 250 built in for PhysX, are you sure it isn't that GPU that is disabled?

nevermind I was thinking of a different card, the GTX 275 coop had the 250 Physx, not the 295.

Go into the nvidia control panel select "configure Sli ...", select "Maximize 3D performance", select "Apply". Secondly I would set Physx to "CPU" when running Benchmarks like 3Dmark06 . Also install Evga precision and enable the on screen display, then when gaming you'll be able to see if both Gpu's are working together and even more importantly , at what temperature theyre running at.

You should see this menu if you are running newer Nvidia 2xx.xx series drivers. If not I would download new drivers from Nvidia and install them.

Thanks for the screenie RBIEZE. How yours says Configure SLI, PhyX, Surround; Mine says 'Set Multi-GPU and PhysX configuration. I think its because im only using 1 graphics card. Its just i heard from some forum that you can use some hack to enable SLI (using 1 card) to trick the system into using the second GPU. (as the gtx 295 has 2 gpus)

You should be able to enable or disable Sli with one Gtx295. I ran only 1 gtx295 for 6 months and often selected between Sli on, and off, depending whether I was gaming or folding@home. Something is wrong with your setup. Enabling Sli on a 295 is not a hack, its a feature of your card and should be 100% accessible by the user. I would reinstall your drivers. If you cannot enable Sli on a single 295 after installing the drivers Ive linked below, then something is broken or installed wrong. http://www.nvidia.com/Dow.oad/Find.aspx?lang=en-us Contact Evga tech support and sort out this issue.

Can't he just enable "Set Multi-GPU" in the Nvidia control panel? That's what I did!

Yes it should be the "set multi Gpu" option on older drivers(as I recall), or on newer drivers, "Maximize 3D Performance".

I have the older driver like he has, and all he needs to do then is enable it where he said he see's "Set Multi GPU"! When he goes back online, he will see he has his answer. Thanks!

Thanks guys, i found the enable button. Just one more quick question, does the cpu play a major role in gpu performance?

Yes if a CPU is too slow it can bottleneck a GPU's performance limiting it's potential. Exhibit A: My rig...
