So the Tesla model 3 will roll off the assembly line starting on Friday. We'll have to see if this as is good as Elon Musk thinks it is.

With a starting price of 35,000 it is worth looking into.

For an electric car of this design I believe 35,000 is reasonable

Yea, I'm pretty excited about this. I have one more year on my lease and I'm thinking about going electric, if it's possible.

Now I want Tesla to make an electric 4x4 with good range.  Or even a Universal retrofit kit that can be installed in older vehicles, because honestly new vehicles have no character and are so bland.  Instead of carrying a plethora of Jerry cans on an expedition with my Landcruiser, I could be loaded up with solar panels and miniature wind turbines lol.  12MPG Hwy currently.

Opinion on politics is bad for business, so he should keep out of it. The moment you alienate 50% of your customer base through unfounded opinion is the moment you make less money. A bunch of businesses right now don't get that and will suffer because of it.

Right, new cars have no character.

We should all go back to this.

Things were so much better in the past... I've always wanted a lc, but they are not know for character lol

That might be fancy, but that certainly has no character.

Just like I'd rather drink my beer at the local old pub that hasn't seen an update in 30 years, rather than that fancy new hipster joint across town.

So, to you, character means the same old stuff, the same way it always was. Good thing character is subjective. It take a lot of character to take the something old and craft it in a revolutionary unconventional way. Who wants 100 buttons to control everything, give me a giant touch screen so I can browse the internet while my car drives me to work. I don't think anyone can unbiasly say tesla's lack character. When the model s was released it was unlike any other production car ever, I would say that screams characters.

But like I said, "character" is subjective, to each their own.

My problem is what happens if that touchscreen fails? Where is the button you press?

I like physical, mechanical things. Sure there are a lot of buttons, but I know where each one is by feel. It is very organic.

Character is subjective for sure. To some, splicing a Best Buy into the interior of a car ads character.....I'm not that person.

Cars designed in a wind tunel, awesome. However, when vehicle shapes are time and time again influenced by drag coefficient.....damn things all get bland and similar looking.

I might have a mighty box on wheels with a gazillion buttons to push, but to me when it's time to grab the keys, the 80 wins hands down over anything else parked in the driveway.

I signed up the 2nd day and put down my deposit, I'm probably in the 200-300k range for waitlist.  The $7,500 tax credit should still work so that offsets some of the cost and then at a state level another $2,500-3,500 tax credit certainly put a dent in that 35k starting price.  I cannot wait to get mine.  I wish I could afford the model S (I've driven one a few times and love it) but I can't justify paying $80k+ for a car.

A big freaking screen like that is begging to get damaged... I really can't see something not happening to it, especially if the driver has kids.

I gotta agree, give me buttons and fixed controls. I would assume drivers can at least turn it off during night driving, because even the lowest brightness setting on my smartphone is still too bright for my preference when night driving.
