Why are people who signed up after me getting their notification to get a 30 series

Are they in the same queue as you? If so, check your "My Notifies" page on EVGA's website to see if you have been sent a notification. If they're not in the same queue, it's because some are moving faster than others and some queues seem to be not moving at all.

You can check your timestamps here:

North America: https://www.evga.com/community/myNotifies.asp

Europe: https://eu.evga.com/community/myNotifies.asp

If you can provide your timestamps and associated sku number, this community should be able to track down the mystery....  To be clear, it is unlikely that you've been skipped.

One more question:

When you have multiple 4-pin sockets on a MB, are they separately controlled, or do they all slow down and speed up at the same time? I expect that they are controlled as a group, because I doubt MB's measure temperature in different parts of the case and, even if they did, they have no way of knowing which fan is where in the case.

One complaint I have: The instructions on most of the parts one buys to assemble a computer are pretty skimpy and seem to assume the purchaser is already knowledgeable. The one exception is the MB. Both the Gigabyte MB I just bought and the Asrock I bought 5 years ago have pretty well done manuals. It seems that the makers have difficulty finding people who can write clear instructions.

My all-time favorite nonsensical instruction came with a printing calculator I bought years ago. The instructions for inserting the ribbon said:

"You may insert the ribbon as in Diagram A or you may insert the ribbon as in Diagram B. However, please do not insert the ribbon as in Diagram B because it will not work."

They are generally all controlled separately. If you go into your BIOS, you can usually set them at a constant speed, or a fan-curve based on some known temperature in the system (CPU, chipset, etc.,..often only a couple options here, depends on the motherboard).  You are right that you'd only have one CPU temperature to monitor for example, but you can have the different headers do different things based on that one temperature. The labels in the BIOS should match the labels printed on the motherboard for the fan headers.

Was looking at the power supplies.

They go from 99W to 133W on the 12volt rail.
1200 to 1600 W total.

How much does that rail wattage matter in reality?

Anyone has a guess when I could get notified for a 3070/3080? I was thinking maybe sometime this year but given how slow it's been moving I don't even know anymore 💀

Your queue position is for that part number only.  Each part number moves at different rates and has different dates depending upon both the rates and the day that queue started... which is tied to release date of that part number by evga.

That depends very much on your motherboard.  Gigabyte has software that can do all of what you speak i.e. control fans separately (In windows, not just in BIOS) based on temperature readouts that are built in to the motherboard, or, in my board & I think most AORUS Masters cases, thermocouples that plug in to the motherboard & can be put anywhere in your case.

That's how I control my GPU radiator fans, I have a thermocouple running up to the exhaust side of the GPU radiator, and the fan speed increases based on the temperature of the radiator exhaust (as it warms up they ramp up, at idle, they run at around 900RPM).

And I have entire groups of fans plugged in to the individual motherboard headers via EK fan splitters that give PWM signal to the motherboard for speed control, while getting power from the PSU directly via 4-pin Molex connectors.  Saves the motherboard from potential over-draw on the fan headers, and still allows me to fully control the fans.
Having 19 fans at the moment, I definitely need those splitters, no way in heck I'd be able to control them all otherwise... with the way it currently is, all of them are controlled via just 4 of the motherboard's 8 fan headers, with the CPU header having my CPU pump on it, of course.

I started assembling my new computer while I wait, and wait, and wait, for a GPU.

I got everything installed onto the motherboard, installed it into the case, and started attaching cables when I got a big surprise.

The 3 fans pre-installed in the case have 3-pin non-PWM connectors. All of the fan sockets on the MB are 4-pin. The case does have a header with a 4-pin lead one can connect to the MB, and sockets for 3-pin connectores, so the situation is workable. But would have been much easier to connect the fans directly onto the MB than it is to plug them into the case's header.

The case is a Fractal Design 7 XL which just came onto the market in 2020. The MB is a Gigabyte X570 Aorus Master, which came onto the market not too much earlier than the case.

My question is WHY would Fractal Design put 3-pin fans into a brand new design case at a time when new MBs have 4-pin sockets? And, it's not like Fractal Design was caught by surprise. The Asrock MB in my 5 year old computer has only 4-pin fan sockets; and the fans that came in the Coolermaster case I bought for that computer 5 years ago have 4-pin connectors.

Fractal Design has a good reputation for its cases. I assume that it had a good reason for installing 3-pin fans. Anyone know what might have influenced that choice?????

My other problem, which I would have had whatever case I bought, is that those tiny connectors for the power switch, power LED, reset button, etc., are an insurmountable challenge to my arthritic old fingers. I will have to find someone with more dexterity to attach those for me. Fractal Design kindly provides a "G-coonector" into which one can plug the wires and then plug the whole connector to the MB. Unfortunately, plugging the tiny wires into the G-connector isn't any easier for me than plugging the wires directly into the MB.

Getting old is the pits, but it beats the alternative.

Other than the 3 pin fans, which is likely simply a cost-saving measure on their part, what do you think of the case overall? I have a Meshify S2, and it is very impressive, but it's what I plan on building a PC for two of my kids with. I am a full tower kind of guy myself, and you're the first person I've had the chance to directly ask that is building with this case. There are several cases on my short list, and most of them I have nowhere to check them out in person. So far, this 7 XL is at the top of my list, closely followed by the new version of this one available for preorder from Lian Li:

I'm ok with heavy. It got good reviews from Gamer Nexus. I know this sounds silly, but I have 5 of the expensive 140mm NZXT AERGB fans with the Hue+. It all ties in nicely with my 280mm NZTX AIO that has the built in LCD for temp monitoring or entertaining the kids with Star Wars GIFs of "The Child". The biggest fan rack in the case only holds 120mm fans. The bottom only properly fills in with 120mm fans. The back? Only 120mm. You can put 140mm fans on top (up to 3, I think??) and only two on the bottom. There's not really a good way to use the beautiful RGB fans that I already have. They test the case with 2x140mm fans, and it looks stupid. It has a small slice of fan-shaped gap on either side of the two fans. So only 2-3 of the 140mm RGB fans will really fit in the case (on top, probably with the 280mm RAD) and look good. I'll have to either buy a bunch of 120mm fans or just do without. I do have a set of the unicorn 120mm Lian Li unifans I could throw in there on the bottom that would look spectacular, but I only have three, and they can't properly be used on my 280mm RAD. Not really wanting to have to buy a bunch more fans, I guess. Plus 140mm fans are really better than 120mm. Push more or the same air with even less noise. It's peculiar that even with a brand new 2021 revision of the 011D XL that they are still limiting most fans to 120mm. It seems like they drilled some 140mm holes in the bottom as an afterthought so you could stick a 280 rad down there or something. I was almost 100% decided to buy that case because of the unique and unmatched looks and cable management. It's simply incredible, and there's nothing else out there even remotely like it that I'm aware of. But then I saw the 120mm fan thing thanks to Gamer Nexus.

Been checking the forum now and then, not sure about this but has the 3898 been dried up for a while?

Hopefully, so they can use those chips to make 3897

Lmao that's definitely a possibility

Last drop was last week. Some stragglers went out on friday.

I asked Jacob the other day if there were any 3898s this week or next week. He hasnt answered so I assume we wont see any 3898s for awhile.

Ahh I see, thanks for the info!
