It's messed up because I built this computer after getting the money for it in 2019... waited till black friday to buy all the parts for it (which was like 10 months wait but thankfully I did or else I would've ended up with a gtx 2080ti for 1200 and not the 3080) FINALLY got the research all done ordered all the parts built the computer...... WITHOUT THE CENTERPIECE OF THE BUILD!!! This 3080! So now I'm sitting here with a brand new computer THAT NEEDS TO BE DUSTED BEFORE ADDING THE FINAL MOST IMPORTANT PART!!!! It's been agony! However there are caveats to this agony, one of which I already mentioned. I'm getting a 3080 and not a 2080, AND I found out that a 4790k Bottle necks the hell out of a 980ti which surprised the poo outta me! Using an i9 9900 CPU with this 980ti I get on average around 30 - 40 MORE FPS in every game IN 2K!!!!! And I mean by that, 30 - 40 FPS more on 2k resolution than a 4790k with a 980ti running games at 1080p! Never again will I lean toward the thought that my CPU is too powerful for the graphics card. Actually, I have a feeling that the i9 9900 is proly gonna bottle neck the 3080 in some respect. But TBH I think/hope they're the perfect match. But then I gotta tell myself that this is what I thought about the 4790k and the 980ti, which was WAY OFF. In the end I found and purchased all the parts not realizing I'd have to wait for the GPU as long as I did. Had I known, I proly would've waited until the card was available before purchasing the PC. I love this CPU though the 9900k (tis a goddamn beast), so I really have the minimum amount of regret possible.

As per my last comment, I myself will never assume that again. I think the CPU being more powerful than the graphics card might even be ideal as then you will draw every bit of the cards worth from it. (Obviously a perfect match would be ideal but I speak in practical terms).

Sales got back to me within minutes on my missed cue inquiry, almost wasn't expecting it so soon. Was so excited to purchase i forgot an associates code, of course. 🙃 I've seen a lot of complaints, but over the last 10+ yrs I've had pretty good luck with evga. Its just that coil whine though... Anyway, 10G-P5-3897-KL, bought. Time to replace the haswell-e bottleneck soon I suppose.
Thanks to those who suggested asking sales support.
Think my 4yr old NEX750B psu will be up to the task?

I power my 3080 ti (3967) with an older Corsair HX1000i PSU. Originally bought in 2013 but replaced under lifetime warranty sometime in 2015 or prior. After some quick Googling, I see Nvidia recommends at least a 750W PSU for a RTX 3080. But I would recommend looking in your BIOS to see if your PSU is performing well first. I replaced my PSU because the old one was providing not quite 12V to the 12V mobo connector, and would unexpectedly reboot when launching some games. Probably because I put too much on one 500w rail. cmil6199
