neatfeatguy I'm guessing EVGA held a crap ton of cards to get people to buy into upgrading shipping method and they can make a few more bucks up charging shipping methods from people that want a new card before the holiday. I don't, for one minute, believe they just happened to have all these cards produced and ready to ship out at one time.
They don't make any money on shipping. Conspiracy theories are great, but given the global shipping situation it's unlikely they would be holding shipments to "scam" people out of money they don't make on shipping they don't control.
Every company I worked at there was always a mark up on shipping ground packages through FedEx, UPS or Spee-Dee. It wasn't much, usually 10%. If something were to ship ground and it cost $5. The shipping cost would passed along to the customer, plus 10%. The customer would be charged $5.50 If that same something were to ship NDA and it cost $25, pass along the shipping cost plus 10% and the customer pays $27.50. Same thing applies to delivery charges for any company I worked for for LTL or FTL, it was usually around 20% upcharge: Costs the company $500 to ship something LTL, add on 20% and pass it along to the customer. The customer pays $600. This usually works out in favor for the customer because they (the customer) tend to do very little shipping in terms of shipping compared to the company. The company does more shipping, the company sees a bigger discount in shipping costs and the customer is actually saving more money paying the company to bill them shipping charges. For example, at my work we have a great discount with FedEx for truck freight. We ship a lot of material out with them. What would cost us to ship a couple of oversized pallets from the Midwest out to Maryland costs us around $700. The cost for a customer that does little shipping with truck freight, the costs could be upwards of $3,000. Now, if we tack on that 20% to the $700 that FedEx bills us, the customer is paying $840 instead of the nearly $3,000 it would cost. The same principle applies to ground shipping through FedEx or UPS (I'm sure it works the same with companies that utilize DHL). The more you ship with one of these companies, the better the discount rate they give you. If you ship a lot and your customers don't ship much, you'd see a much better price to ship over what they would be charged. We do have some customers that are big companies that buy through us. I'm sure they get great rates on ground shipping or truck load shipping, so they setup their own truck company to pick up material from us or they have us bill their account through UPS Worldship instead. I'm sure EVGA ships a ton of stuff and I'm certain they have a helluva discount with UPS. I would be very surprised if EVGA didn't tack on an upcharge of something like 10-15% to what they're billed, on to the customer, for shipping charges. A business isn't here to do things for free and every company I've worked for doesn't ship things for free (just recouping the cost), they make a little on the end for the work they do.

Serialk1llr Yes, I wated 13 months and two weeks for my 3080 FTW Ultra. And I'm in the US.
The most disappointing thing about this statement is that even if I wait my 13 months for my card that if I somehow miss the email / purchase window then I lose. Wish I could put a deposit or something that would help ensure that I don't lose my spot

Lots of people reported in this very thread that, in a similar occasion, they replied to the email with the invite to purchase explaining the situation and they all got a new link with a new 8(old)/20(new) hours window.

I doubt that. Any GPU, or CPU for that matter, can be used for mining, it is just whether the ROI is worth it or not. If it has an ALU, miners can use it. The start of this problem was the pandemic which sped up the demand overrunning supply problem by a few years. So now we have chip and component availability problems across all industries which is probably going to go into 2023.

I think I got in the queue before EVGA even decided to convert the auto-notify system into actual queues. Still took me 14 months to get one, but it beat hanging out on Discord servers, waiting 30 minutes at a time to get denied in Best Buy drops, lose at Newegg Shuffle 50+ times, and waste my time fixating on the prospect of getting one. 3080 XC3 Ultra 3885-KL 09/21/2020 13:46:57

Well, I was just notified that someone attempted to log in to my EVGA account three times this afternoon. And this only after I posted in these forums for the first time the other day. Not the notification I was hoping for, but at least they couldn't log in.

Someone who got recent notice for the 3080 FTW and purchased it, posted his card on the ebay right away within next hour, and put in description "It will be shipped soon!". People wait in the line to resell the card, meanwhile I wait in the line just to run the games I want to play since my old one burned out. T_T

I very recently learned that my 3080ti which I thought was useless for mining because all 3080ti are LHR, is not at all... ran some numbers and its nothing ground breaking but apparently if i run it while I'm asleep and at work, it'll pay it's self off in about 4 months. Definitely eye opening, and wouldn't surprise me if miners are buying any card they can regardless of LHR or not. Hash rates for cards(approximate): 3090: 150 MH/s 3080ti: 80Mh/s 3080: 100MH/s 3080lhr: 70 Mh/s Don't be mad if these numbers are wrong, just correct me. thx

3090 does 112-121 depends on how well you cool the ram the rest of the numbers are close as long as your power cost it not stupid high cali price like 35 or 45 cents a kwatt all gamers should mine a bit. but that is just my opinion so if you want to be salty I prefer pink Himalayan the most.

I'm back from grandma enewt's home. No big, bad wolves were spotted today. Unfortunately, neither were any drops. I will check tomorrow for reports, but I am not holding out any hope for a material drop of EVGA cards. I highly suspect that we are done for 2021. Assuming that to be the case, my next summary will be the morning of Monday, January 3. Have a great rest of 2021, stay safe and healthy, find your Vitamin D when you can, and be present for your friends and family...that is the greatest present you can offer them. Have a wonderful holiday season and a happy new year! Yeah, though I should let you know that timestamp movement approximates an exponential equation, not a linear equation. Though it can take a while if the card's movement looks like y=(x^1.05)/20
