Celeras 3090 emails have started going out this morning, good luck everybody!
I sure hope so! I’ve yet to see anyone post here about receiving an email notification for the 3090 and the spreadsheet still lists the last notifications as being received on 10/16/2020. Anyone received an email notification for any card today? If so, what model and what was your original notify date and time?

In my experience, buying the fancier, overclocked version is nearly always pointless perfromance for dollar unless there's something wrong with the design of the card or cooling solution of the lower end model. You're paying them to offer you a minimally overclocked version when you can overclock it yourself to a significantly higher clock than they ever would from the factory. Manufacturing is the probably the same for each line within the xc3 line and FTW. Your paying for "binning" and maybe different version of the bios. However I don't know what exactly dictates which card end up being a black, gaming, or ultra. It's not like a backplate is really that much more for them to manufacture. For me it's more about the form factor. I build strictly SFF cases so I prefer the 2.2 slot cards and no backplate.

Last I saw pointed to a few cards today, and a larger batch throughout the week. I may be wrong, but I assume Monday would not be the biggest drop day since the would have to receive inventory at some point in the day, catalog it, do any testing/packaging, etc.

Jacob said no exact day for the XC3 ultra but it will be this week. Now will it be small, medium or big shipment ? Who knows. I'm 9/16 7:05pm for XC3 ultra according to the list I'm at 86 so probably 86-110 realistically so here is hoping they release least 100 cards per day. One can dream.

desertf0x9 I have total regret not pushing notify on all of them, I'm also 9/16 for the 3080 xc3 black. I only submitted the notify for the 3080 and 3090 xc3 black. I don't see them bothering with the xc black when the profit margins for the ftw ultra and xc3 ultras are better and the demand is definitely there.
People keep saying the profits are better on the ultras, but I'm not convinced of that. To me, even if the per card margins are more on the ultras, I'd expect you to sell 3X as many blacks or something, since they are ~$100 less. Plus, the blacks have no backplate, and vanilla everything else - seems like they'd be the cheapest to manufacture. Maybe it's just because there's so much demand, the people that can't get the XC3 black, are just going to spend the extra money anyway and go ultra. which is fair, because it's exactly what I'm going to try to do haha
Margins ARE larger, because these cards are already blasting right past the boost clocks on the box, so all they have to do is light testing and then throw it out. It's like, what, 20 or 30 or whatever free bucks, which adds up a lot over large volumes. Since the demand is high, very few people will pass at a chance to get one, so now is actually your best chance to sell the high ends over the others. Many reviewers have already said that unless you're special use case or are going for looks that there's really no point in getting a high end. So yeah, normally I'd expect blacks and non ultras to sell more after the initial passionate enthusiast wave (this is exactly what happened with Samsung's phones, for instance), but if you tell them tears or FTW3ultra, the vast majority will buy it. It makes 100% sense to sell at this range. For what it's worth, top end cards tend to keep the series' value better than lower ends, and it's easier to sell them to boot. Especially EVGA cards because of the secondhand warranty. I got a 2080super for basically $50 + shipping during the whole 1080ti shortage debacle, it was hilarious. Anyway, I'm fine with the FTW3 ultra they just need moooore caaaaaards to get this line moving. We're still not at 8 AM!

With every other series of cards I agree that you are simply paying for factory overclocking and a different BIOS when buying a higher tier card. Which normally means that buying any card is completely just a buying a ticket in the silicon lottery. I have always bought the cheapest version of the card I could get as I would always manually overclock and buying any of the cards is just as good as another. But this series is a bit different in that these chips need A LOT of power and the AIBs, EVGA included, saw this as an opportunity to really segregate the cards by the adding a 3rd power connector. This at least gives the opportunity for the FTW3 cards to actually clock higher this time around. It's ridiculous that you are essentially paying $300 for a 3rd power connector and a slightly better cooler/PCB in the case of the 3090 but here we are. If I am paying $1500 already and I plan on watercooling and running 4k120 I might as well go another $300 and hope I can get a bit more out of my card. And when EVGA releases a higher power limit BIOS for the 3090 FTW3 we will really see what they can do especially under water. This was not that case in prior series cards. 2 power connectors was enough to get the most out of your card (LN2 aside). Hopefully once Nvidia moves to a better node on the next series of cards we won't see such high power draw and stuff like this won't matter as much. But TSMC 7nm not being available to Nvidia and them instead having to use Samsung really screws up this series. The worst part is in another year or so we will see an Ampere refresh on a smaller more power efficient node. I remember when Nvidia was one of TSMCs best customers and we would always get their best process immedaitely. But since Apple stated designing chips and became TSMCs biggest customer and AMD stopped using their own fab and moved over to TSMC they have completely cater to them with all fab space and pushed Nvida out for 30 series.

Looks like only a very small number of cards went out today so far, and all 3080 & 3090 FTW3 Ultras according to the spreadsheet. A little after 3pm in CA right now so hopefully more to come? I was expecting a lot more today, not sure what happened.. maybe the website outage slowed things down?

drewski989 Yeah according to Jacob's last tweet, should be a bigger batch arriving this week for the queue, bigger than last week!
<sarcasm>We might actually get the 3080 FTW3 Ultra list to 9/17 7:48AM... </sarcasm>

USALion I'm at 12:58 PM on 09/16 for the XC3 Ultra, and no notification yet.
9/16:12:59 here 👌 it's crazy this launch with the low supply how minutes in the queue can mean waiting days longer
