xeddex Queue is "fair" because it's first come first serve and so people who took the time and made the effort to be earlier than others get their chance first.
Lottery is "fair" because absolutely nobody is preferred and there is literally nothing a person can do to effect their chances.
Both ways work. However, there's a reason that grocery stores, banks, etc all use queues instead of lotteries. (Hint: it cuts down on all the fist fights, stabbings and shootings considerably)
You won’t have fist fights over gpus sold online.
No, but all the emotion behind those fist fights still ends up being create and that's not good. Human nature is that if you know you're got to wait in a line then you won't get super pissed as long as you think you can handle the wait. However, if you know you've got to show up and get in a line and you go to get in that line and see the line goes around the block twice then you're instantly pissed and start voicing the opinion that a lottery should have been used instead. Truth be told, folks that show up to get in line when the line isn't that long never start talking about how it should have been a lottery; it's only the folk way down the line who are pissed at being so far back.
No. No. No.
People are upset over the lack of production of 3080 blacks and 3080 gaming. EVGA prioritizing water cooled gpus over air. People being upset has nothing to do spots in line.
Sorry, two different things (sorry if that wasn't clear). I was speaking generally of "queue" vs "lottery" approaches when attempting to satisfy need (regardless of what the need might be). I wasn't commenting on the specific gpu situation we're all in since it has so many other things going on as well beyond queue vs lottery that effect it (covid, production issues, tariffs, how AIBs choose to allocate their allotment of NVidia gpus in cases where the same gpu silicon is used to make multiple skus (black, gaming, etc), existing retail contracts vs queues vs step up vs new retail contracts).

Some makeup numbers on "Queue" vs "Lottery" Let say: The pool of people in EVGA for a 30xx GPU=100,000 people. In Queue system, you will get to have your GPU 100% within 2 years due to people will move on to next gen. In Lottery system, let say chance of winning the draw base on pool is 1% every week. -the average luck to win is 50 draws which = to about 1 year. But -now people flack into the pool because it's a chance to buy instead of waiting in line - pool=200,000 -chance of winning the draw base on pool is 0.5% every week. -the new average luck to win is 100 draws which = to about 2 year. Also -Bots overrun the system because size does matter in chance to win - pool=500,000 -chance of winning the draw base on pool is 0.2% every week. -the new average luck to win is 250 draws which = to about 4.5 year. The lucky few will get their card soon, but in a Lottery system, chance is not on your side. I am for Queue 100%.

ruohu888The lucky few will get their card soon, but in a Lottery system, chance is not on your side. You have to be registered member and have at least one EVGA product registered. Not fair? Call it " Loyal customer appreciation lottery". Also, one( or maximum two) card( regardless of P/N) per address. No PO Boxes. No business. No " middle man" warehouses that ships purchases outside US. Only residential addresses. Problem solved.

1239 difference between first two. 2204 difference include second two. Looks promising. Half of that probably 3657 and line for that moves much faster.
All guessing, but I'd imagine the first minute or two see a lot of adds. People who know not to try and click links and instead just have the auto notify link ready to go in the URL text box. But then, as more people file in, it slows with overall responsiveness. Then picks back up as the faster/luckier signups complete and total user count drops. My guess is somewhere between 9:30-9:40 was the peak (excluding the potential for the unknowable first two minutes possibly seeing higher volume). That makes sense, given how the progress flies after initial sign-up windows (relatively speaking). And the what sometimes seems like a high number of straggler day reports. Between people signing up just because, or not checking emails, or their number coming up too soon, there could be a high number of straggler drops going out over a day or two.

Gotspeed_2000 I also think the queue system is the best way to serve the overall good of the community. Having a lottery is not the greatest idea, look at all the flack New Egg is going through with their shuffle. I think that retailers like new egg are doing their best to serve their customers needs while trying to be fair. As much as I don't want to stand in line, I'd rather stand in line than try to get lucky. The only thing that would be nice is if EVGA would come out and say where they are as far as notifying the group. I'm not saying they have to tell how many cards went out, but where they are on the distribution list would be nice. Say "We are currently notifying users who registered up to xxxx date and time. If anything happens to those who are tracking the notifications such as Enewt here in North America, where would everyone turn to for information/hope? I actually like seeing him post and his comments, but no one can say for sure he will be here doing this for x-amount of months/years. If anything he gives me hope that at least that much closer to getting the card I want. I know I couldn't do what he does tracking all that info and being supportive of the group overall. Everyone is like COVID stressed out. Waiting for a card and watching little movement is hard. But the truth is no one forces you to stand in line either. It's hard to gauge by just time alone since we don't know if 10 or a 100 people signed up at that point in time. But this is our best solution as a group for now and that's all we can look to. I don't know of any other manufacturer who is doing something like this and taking the time to manage this type of service. This system is not perfect, but it is what it is.
We also collect information by crowd sourcing data in the Spreadsheet Megathread - EVGA Forums. If we were to give up maintaining ourselves we'd most likely find someone else to take it over that is interested. We are not at those days though.
Thanks for sharing this and for all those that do the work to help us keep our sanity through this process. It's more work than I would do so props to you and all those who help with the tracking. Lets all hope for big drops in the time ahead. Have a great and safe weekend.

This does look promising. I think the 3060 queue will be the most accurate because even if the sequential number is store wide, everyone entering the queue around 9-10AM were most likely for the 3060 cards. There might be a handful of people who entered a different queue at the same time, but that number will likely be nominal. So, this could be decently accurate.

Hitch_Itch This is my right click info on my que, if those bold numbers represent my position in Que, that's a lot people in front of me It would be interesting to see what number someone has that was notified today to purchase a GPU. That might tell us how many cards have been sold and how far back a person in the Que (301574),'10G-P5-3897-KR','9/29/2020 6:33:59 AM') (2083002),'10G-P5-3898-KR','12/16/2020 9:11:04 AM')
Can ya double check the 3897? Should be 1301574 You are correct, it was a typo ('1301574','10G-P5-3897-KR','9/29/2020 6:33:59 AM')

My thinking is also along the lines of I may have a much better chance to get a prodigal 3080 Ti if I’m quick to jump on the wait list than the FTW3.
Also, pray tell, what is this “step up” thingy I keep reading? Apologies for the seemingly trivial question, I’m new at these parts.

I'm hoping the 3080ti is released during my 3 month window for step up. Then I can wait.....again.

Step up lets you buy a card and upgrade it to a higher model within 90 days of purchase. The issue tho is it currently has the lowest priority. Ex. 3070 -> 3090 Pay price difference and shipping.

Another NewEgg Shuffle come and gone. Sigh. Anyone feeling lucky for the 3070 giveaway during EVGA’s livestream today?

static.quaiPeople who know not to try and click links and instead just have the auto notify link ready to go in the URL text box. That is how I got mine 12G-P5-3657-KR. But I didn't know about 12G-P5-3655-KR... found it existence half an hour later. I think 12G-P5-3655-KR much better value per $ than 12G-P5-3657-KR.
I would like to know more about how to do this lol
Go back to the forum posts in this thread on 2/25 at around 9-9:30am. It's just prefilling the link straight in the URL text box that would be submitted when you click the auto notify button. Perhaps some guessing what that link will be by updating an old link with the new card number. Also, the incremental number isn't just GPUs. It appears to be anything with an auto-notify option. It may even include transactions that don't get queued up in an auto-notify. Regardless, during high congestion times, say when a new SKU is dropping, it's likely most increments are coming from auto-notify sign-ups for that SKU. Even the people purchasing or signing up for auto-notifies during that time are going to be bogged down with the congestion. If it's a person just wanting to buy something in stock, it's quite possible they might even just say heck with this, I'll come back later. Again, it's unknowable for me to say whether a straight purchase increments that number, but maybe. Definitely the number increments on non-GPU auto-notifies though.

Couldn't find the post you were talking about, but I figured it out. I agree the trick is in knowing the sku# ahead of time. if the page loads enough to tell you what that is, you might be able to get a second window open with that link pretty quick.
