I have little hope left to be honest.

New Models are released, new queue is started, old ones are not filled rinse and repeat.

That is the pattern EVGA is following, at some point they have to actually tell us if the old models are dead.

Then maybe they will offer the new models to the folks waiting since 9/16.

It would be nice to be wrong.

I highly doubt the "old" models are dead. They are just beginning to make the other lines. They started with the higher end ones because they are more profitable. They could allow people to jump to different queues like that but it would be messy for them and I like the separate queues myself. Many people are after a specific card.

CPU: Ryzen 5900x
GPU: EVGA RTX 3090 FTW3 Ultra
RAM: Crucial Ballistix OC to 3800 16 18 18 1:1
PSU: EVGA SuperNova G2 1600w
Cooling: Custom hardline loop: optimus blocks, primochill stuff, lian li stuff, HW Labs 60mm radiators, custom stuff

I'm after a 3080 FTW3 Ultra, specifically, but I have a strong feeling that, by the time I actually get my hands on one, I'll be turning around and immediately joining the step-up queue for a 3080 Ti.  It's frustrating when new models get released, and more are rumored, when many of us have been waiting for 3 1/2 months for one of the original cards.

Actually you are wrong :) A friend of mine who has been waiting since september did get his ordered before the holiday's so the queues are moving just not as fast any of us would like. Its hard to stay positive when new models are being release with little movement on the old ones I totally understand that but EVGA is maintaining their model releases schedule. EVGA by far has done more to atleast try to get the queued cards out to people then a lot of others have even attempted. May take time but the queues will continue to move at a snails pace but they will move.

Its a new year and all that manufacturing that happened over the holidays (because you know the places in china were sitll running) should help with the first week or two of January and we should see some movement.

Also keep in mind that there were literally hundreds of thousands of people looking for those cards and tens of thousands of people that have entered the queues. And that doesn't factor in the supply contracts with the resellers that EVGA has to meet or suffer the consequences of failing to honor those said contracts.

Patience seems to be the new way of things partially because of Covid and partially because of some miss judging on the needs before release. 20 years ago this would of been marked as oh well by most people but the fact that we have gotten used to things being available at our finger tips makes things like this seem ridiculous. There is a saying I am quite fond of "sometimes you have to slow down to speed up". This is one of those cases where if everyone just slows down a bit things will get faster.

End of my rant.

Who knows, you might be able to get the 3080 ti faster than the 3080. Click that auto notify button as soon as it goes live. If it doesn't work out you can wait it out for your 3080 and do the step up. I'd be happy that a manufacturer is doing a queue like this. Nobody else is.

I have little hope left to be honest.

I think both yes and no because it depends on the GPU chips themselves.  I believe the availability of the chips is the rate limiter (not Nvidia/AIBs ability to produce the cards which those chips go in).  If there's a new card which uses a new chip then in my opinion that's "ok" because if an AIB like EVGA starts selling that new card then it shouldn't have any impact at all on folks who are waiting in the notification queues or step-up queues for existing cards because that chip would never go into those cards.  (Ex: the 3080Ti chip leak info suggests that it's a different chip than what's in a 3090 or 3080 now.).  I'm ok with that and if some of those 3080Ti chips are from 3090's which didn't pass QC checks and so they repurposed them as part of the 3080Ti batch then that's ok too (even though yes they "could" have repurposed them for 3080's)

However, if the chip for a new card is the same chip that's used for an already existing card then that's where the problems start.  Nobody is going to like being told that they can't have the card they want and have been waiting for but instead they can buy a different card for more $$$ because the company decided to use the chip in a brand new pricier card rather than use it to satisfy existing outstanding orders/queues.  That's the position some of the cards at launch are in as lower priced models which use the same chip as more expensive ones aren't being made in equal quantities. However at least in that situation they're all 3080's.  Its still fair criticism for anything rolled out "at launch" but I think it's a very different subject when "new" cards are rolled out post-launch which use the same GPU chip as other already existing cards do when there are people waiting in queues (both notification and step-up).

I think this might really be the case especially if the 3080Ti does end up using a different chip as some leaks have suggested.  If it's a different chip then it isn't "competing" with the cards that are 3080 chips and since it's brand new it's a clean slate mad dash to get in the queue when it becomes available.  I think a lot depends on how much of the existing 3080 queues they're able to get through prior to the 3080Ti release.  However, I think the 3080Ti will be a slaughter regardless it's just if they can make some real headway on 3080 queues before 3080Ti release then it'll at least be "better horrible situation".

I posted a few weeks back in this thread (and a few others) that I was donating an EVGA RTX 3060 Ti FTW3 Ultra GPU for the 2020 Folding Time Zone Challenge as thanks for all the people here who used my associate code when purchasing their GPUs. Just updating to let you know the Time Zone Challenge was a great success, with over 120 forum members signing up to fold for 10 days straight (well, most of us were), and some absolutely insane numbers being churned out.

Big congrats to Yodap on winning the EVGA RTX 3060 Ti FTW3 Ultra GPU!

Thanks to everyone who organized, donated and participated, it was a mammoth effort for a great cause, and thanks again to everyone here who used my associate code when making a GPU purchase, because that was used to pay for the RTX 3060 Ti FTW3 Ultra, so cheers!

That is GREAT news! Congrats, and let us know what you think after a few days of gaming! :D

So far not good..
My Seasonic 750Watts Prime Titanium is in the affected units.
Anything above 65% power level will trip and shutdown my PC (approximately at 550Watts wall, or 500Watts supply)
So much for a "750 watts" power supply.

What's wrong with seasonic PSUs and where's the list?

Older Seasonics along other brands and rebranded PSUs have issues tripping when they detect big transient power stages from large video cards, like the 3080 and 3090.

Happy New Year! I hope those of us that remain on our watch were able to take a break from the wall (I certainly tried to get away (I ventured into my living room and, at least once, made it to the backyard)), get warm by the fire and refresh for the 2021 hunt.  Hopefully it will be a short one.

As of 8:45 am PT Monday morning, this is the status of the North American queues (bolded font represents movement from the morning of Wednesday, December 23; italicized parentheticals calculate the length of movement).

That's what I ended up doing, and I'm satisfied with it thus far (price aside, ugh).  I agree with you that the 24GB GDDR6X on-board VRAM is likely going to give it more staying power than the 3080 in the long run, and given that I'm replacing my GPU every five years or so, it was easier to swallow that horse-sized pill of a price tag.

Stop blaming eVGA.

EVGA largely gets to choose what cards they make with the chips from nVidia, and multiple cards share the same underlying chip (albeit binned for different models by nVidia themselves).  So it's fair for some queues (3881, 3883, and 3895 specifically) to blame EVGA given the lack of communication from them.  It's why a number of folks keep circling back here (myself included) wanting some sort of official statement from the company about it.

10 SKUs "launched" on 9/16, three of which have queues that still haven't even reached the 9/17 release date.  EVGA: where are the 3881, 3883, and 3895?

Yes, it would appear that EVGA is taking a day to calculate how many pallets of gaming goodness arrived during the holiday break.  A gamer can dream, right?

Not that I don't believe either of you (I have absolutely no reason not to, in fact quite the opposite for enewt) but I can't find his tweet saying that. I am also NOT a twitter expert and rarely use it haha.
Edit: Nevermind, was a reply. found it!

Re: New EVGA.com Notification Checkout Process 2021/01/04 09:41:41 (permalink)
Hi All,
On 12/30 I was able to place an order on Amazon for a 3090 (24G-P5-3987-KR) at retail (sold/supplied by Amazon).  They don't list a ship date, but say it should arrive between 01/26 and 01/27.  I've been checking out the pages on and off.

I'm not sure if this was 100% coincidence, but the unit did not show available from Amazon when I was on their page.  Instead, I had to click on the "sellers" button to review all the other sources (IE, the scalpers).  Low and behold, the first "seller" on the list was Amazon at retail $1,799.  I clicked it, added it to the cart, and it let me order it.

Given the terrible diminishing returns on a 3090 vs a 3080, I definitely would prefer a 3080.   However, I keep graphics cards for years typically (currently running a 1080ti FTW), so if i get stuck with the 3090, I get stuck with it.  I imagine it should age a little more well due to the larger RAM amount.

My plan is to leave this on order while still trying to source a 3080.  If I can find a 3080 to order before this one ships, then I'll cancel this order.  For now, I haven't canceled any of my EVGA queues for obvious reasons.    I just wanted to share my experience with having to click on the seller list to see the option.

Thanks,
YaroKasear

"trickle train"...I love that expression.  Let's hope with the ten days or so to amass inventory in their warehouses, it turns into a gushing gale or a cloudburst cavalcade.

I understand feeling frustrated, but I think the queus are going to start moving faster than you anticipate. One thing to keep in mind is that many of us have signed up for multiple queues to get ANY of the cards. As soon as we get ONE of them then we remove ourselves from all of the lists, or at least that is the hope. So while there are many Queues, many people only want one card.

Agreed, lets hope that today is their "ok wow that's alot! we need to get all of this stuff logged into inventory so we can start getting it processed to go out the door.  Good lord they unloaded on us.  We're not going to be able to see much of the warehouse floor or walls for at least a couple of weeks.  Everybody get cranking because there's about to be a lot of folks in queue's with smiles on their faces."

Not to mention unless I missed something EVGA's never done this "queue" system before, so there's literally no basis to assert a "pattern" here when this is the very first instance.

I still think the warehouse is pretty empty after break, besided a few partial skids.

Re: New EVGA.com Notification Checkout Process 2021/01/04 10:07:01 (permalink)
is EVGA ever planning to make/ship any lower end 3080 XC3 skus? I've been on the notification list for a 3080 XC3 Black and XC3 Gaming since the morning day one (9/17 ~ 7am).

I understand that they prioritized the high price skus at first, but to not have any movement on these skus for over 3 months is a bit much.

Rig1: EPYC 7V12 | [4] RTX A4000
Rig2: EPYC 7B12 | [5] 3080Ti + [2] 2080Ti
Rig3: EPYC 7B12 | [6] 3070Ti + [2] 3060
Rig4: [2] EPYC 7742 | RTX A2000
Rig5: [2] EPYC 7642
Rig6: EPYC 7551 | [4] Titan V

Nobody in this thread will have any concrete, verifiable information about upcoming drops or inventory levels.  But, my opinion is that we are unlikely to see a huge deviation from the historical practice we've witnessed over the last three plus months.  Ultras will get priority over Gaming Blacks and Gaming skus seems to be AWOL (except in the 3060 family).
