Did you guys use 3 separate PCIe 8 pin cables for your 3080 FTW3 Ultras or did you daisy chain them? I got BSOD on BFV twice and Black Ops Cold War crashed on me a couple times (but no BSOD). I wasn't too worried considering they're both relatively glitchy games, but then today Warzone crashed on me...and now I'm worried. I have it set up with 2 cables, one daisy chained. Do y'all think I should maybe undo the daisy chain and add a legitimate 3rd 8 pin power cable? I could be noobing around here and not even realizing it. My PSU is a Corsair 1000W RMx, which I don't think is bad. What do you guys think?

I wouldn't mess around with the power cables on the 3090s or 3080s.  If you have them available, use three separate cables.

Best of luck!

I hope this is not an issue with SFXL PSUs, mine has only two cables, each is separated into two 8-pin headers, it's 800Watt Titanium from Silverstone, I'm in for a FTW3 Ultra 3080.

Time to break out the 2 molex to 1 6-pin and two 6-pin to 1 8-pin adapters & daisy chain yourself together a 3rd 8-pin connector LOL Don't do that, but maybe do that... Some people have had crashing & other issues & even card-death resulting from using daisy-chain 8-pin connectors on both 3080s & 3090s.

Apparently two more folks used my Associates code for a 3090 FTW3 of some sort & a 3080 of some sort.  Thanks to whoever that was ^_^ appreciate it.

Today is the last day we might get a drop for quite a while, so let's hope it's a big one!

Don't forget guys: Use an associates code during checkout for a free 5% off - all you have to do is enter the code, you get 5% off your order, and the person who's code you use gets a 3% eVGA Bucks reward, spread the love!

This is exactly why I took the precaution if buying a new full modular PSU, so much daisy-chainning is just asking for trouble.
AND it reduced my cable clutter by half.

I bought myself a 1000W eVGA just before my 3090 order...plus I have a bunch of disk drives for plex and a slight OC on my 9900k. Should be safe now :).

Also good luck and heres to a great drop today! Get your orders in by 2pm PST!

So I've also been hawking my local Microcenter looking for the FTW3 version of the 3060TI, but have had no luck...and yesterday they had the XC Gaming version of the card in so I just said screw it and snagged it with the intention of using it to hold me over until a FTW3 was in stock somewhere.

But honestly after hitting it with a .925 undervolt and OCing the memory to 8000MHz, this thing is boosting up to 1980MHz on the core and staying stable and STILL barely breaching the mid 60c range for temperature on a full load.

So I think I'm going to just hold onto this, and drop my notifies for the two 3060 TI FTW3 versions (Ultra and Gaming).  Free up some slots for you all.

After buying my first full modular power supply, every single one afterward it was a hard requirement.  The clutter reduction by itself is worth it.

Plus the option of buying matching cables for your build...I bought white cables to match my black/white build. looks so much nicer

If we ever get to a point where the queue for a given SKU is fulfilled and there is still stock, I'd imagine you would be able to make a real-time purchase.

Strongly recommend using 3 separate PCIe 8-pin cables. These cards use a lot of power, and daisy chaining 2 cables puts these right on or beyond their spec limit. The Corsair 1000W RMx has enough ports for 3 separate PCIe cables, so I have no idea why you would even consider daisy-chaining 2 of them - you should only daisy-chain when you have no choice (some PSUs don't have 3 PCIe ports).

So if I just joined the auto notify queue today, I might as well buy a lotto ticket because I have a better chance of winning that then getting a video card?

The difference between the two is that you WILL get a card eventually when the queue catches up to you. Winning the lotto is far less likely lol.

Wife gave me the green light to replace my 7+ year old gaming laptop. Was going to try and build a new desktop with some sort of 3070, but not sure now with the supply shortage. Might have to go with a pre-built and hope for the best.

Currently standing in checkout at the nearest microcenter with the voucher for a 24G-P5-3897-KR. I’m going to leave my thing in the queue until after the drops today just in case I’m able to get a soggy 3080 ftw. If not I will remove my reservation for someone else at the end of the day.

Merry Christmas to all, I hope at least some of you get an email today (or tomorrow?), even though you probably won't receive the GPU until the new year.

Thank you for those that used my associate code in the past which enabled me to buy and donate that 3060 Ti FTW3 Ultra card for a great cause! The 2020 Time Zone Challenge is going well, with over 120 EVGA forum members crunching away as I type, and one of them will score that 3060 Ti card, and there's a heap of other prizes that were also donated by generous EVGA Forum members! Part of the reason so many of us stick around is not just the great service from EVGA, but the people who contribute so much in these forums in one way or another. Thank you!

Cheers.

Wrapped-in-bacon
Currently standing in checkout at the nearest microcenter with the voucher for a 24G-P5-3897-KR. I’m going to leave my thing in the queue until after the drops today just in case I’m able to get a soggy 3080 ftw. If not I will remove my reservation for someone else at the end of the day.

Congratulations on your card.  Your watch is coming to an end.  Happy holidays!
