I've been trying to get a "new" graphics card since 2018. Back when the 1080 launched they were impossible to get, then the same for the 2080's because of the price gauging. Now we have price gauging and artificial limited inventory because companies like Evga knowingly sold their entire inventories to the scalpers and crypto miners who now have the inventory. There is not a single human being on this planet who needs more than one graphics card. Evga and Nvidia (and the rest of the vendors) are swimming in the profits from the massive sales they made to the scum who purchased all the inventory. Anyone who actually purchases anything at this point is just supporting the predatory business practices. These prices are absolutely absurd. There is zero difference between buying direct from Evga and from some pos on eBay or Amazon seller. They are marking up at least 200% just to take advantage of "suckers" who they assume does not know any better. The best thing to do at this point is buy nothing from these companies and use the only language they understand, the lack of sales.

Well, that's definitely an opinion :D - a salty one but an opinion.

The bit about Scalpers and Crypto miners...I mean that's not WRONG. But I think most of the funneling was middlemen. Also the people that mine/scalp are pretty good at abusing pre-order/scripting/bots etc. as the only thing they give a crap about is profit SO even means like EVGA's que system is no doubt full of them. The only real way to stop that would have been hardware limitations, or people realizing that crypto in it's current state is an unstable freaking Ponzi scheme.

If you really want something and want to at least get what you're paying for overall, a number of GOOD laptops are down to reasonable levels right now. I've seen many Legion 5's with 3070's going around $1400 with discounts and coupon codes, or Best Buy had a MSI w/ a 3060 in it (albeit a 75w variant) on sale for $849.

Once Eth goes proof of stake, things might level out, or they might not. Hope for normality, plan for chaos.

Just saw this article with this quote from the verge.
“After taking much feedback, we are working on a new version for [the] future with improvements to speed up queue fulfillment and fairness. This new queue may have some new rules and requirements, so for the time being, we have closed the existing queue for new signups as we continue to fulfill those in line, and plan to have more announcements in the near future,” EVGA tells The Verge.

I just bought a $329 Nvidia RTX 3060 for $329, and all I had to do was wait nine months in line

Basically telling stuff most of us (salty or less-salty) already knew. I expect there to be more salt if/when EVGA announces their new queue system. It will go great on my popcorn. 🍿

Also, specific question for eckorichg: any idea when the queue will reopen? Asking for a friend.

Glad to have finally discovered this great service... too bad I'm very late to the party.  Best of luck to all currently waiting in line.  Thankful to at least have an aging 1080 Ti.

Re: New EVGA.com Notification Checkout Process 2021/11/12 12:18:51 (permalink)
Man, I am so glad I got my 2080ti back when it released 3 years ago.
Sadly, I now have 2 other computers for my kids in which I have to take care of as well.

I had a 980ti Classified that my younger son was using that bit the dust one day.  The card was perfect for his use case as well.  I wish I could get it repaired with the prices of todays cards.

I just hope stock returns over the next 6 months so I can get a replacement card for the used cards I just bought them.
I never would have thought it would be this hard to buy a video card for my kids computers.
I also wish I could go back and buy the extended warranty on my card as who knows when I will be able to get a replacement for it.  If I have to pay $2k for a replacement card for mine, I think I will find a different hobby, lol.

Good luck to all those in queue.  I hope you are able to get your card soon.
I appreciate EVGA doing this queue.  I was ignorant to its importance and how much I should have considered it when they opened it up originally.  If I could only go back and slap myself...

I know that EVGA gives elite members the 1st 24hrs, but all others queued should also get advanced access as well for the next 24hrs before opening up to the general public...

I doubt people will be carried over and kept in the same positions. New SKUs, new sign ups, new lines to wait in. I just hope they give people in the current queues 24hrs before opening up to the general public...

The point is that I, for example, am waiting for two cards that I wish I could delete one because for me it is dead. If the queue for the new cards opens, will we be able to enter the queue for one of them or because we already have two cards waiting will it not leave us?

There is no reason to buy something from EVGA again.

It most likely be 30 supers at the beginning of 22' then 40 series at the end of next year.

If there was anything I ever learned from the que. It's to sign up day one for multiple sku's within my range and hope one hits quickly. A minute is like a week, so don't wait around. If you can. Do it very quickly with pride. I overslept on my day. Luckily, there were other "unforeseen" server issues and I was still able to fight my way to a 2 1/2 months que time. Which i think is pretty good under the circumstances.

I've never bought supers before. From my understanding they're the same cards with increased specs. I'm sure someone else can explain it a bit better.

The ram requirement varies based on resolution of the program/game
Also can improve performance having the increased vram, I know that COD makes use or allocates all 24 gb of my 3090 even at 1080p maxed running 280-300+ fps
