As always Enewt is da man errrrrr main amphibian. As reliable as they come. Appreciate the constant updates. This card is going to my one and only father for use in his autocad workstation. 3090 would be best but it is unobtanium for us at this point. 

Congratulations to your dad and thanks for reporting back to the community.  I love when parents secure cards for their kid(s) or a kid secures a card for their parent(s)...that just lifts the spirit.  I hope he does something beyond just autocad...maybe a little World of Warships late at night when everybody except the pet is asleep.

He partially owns the company and it doesn't make him a whole lot of money but he has been doing it for 40 years, he loves it, and he makes enough to survive. Due to constant cost constraints he is always working with the most budget hardware. I have spent the last 3 months scouring secondhand shops for deals on the used markets and have managed to piece together an impressive budget build that includes a 5800x (bent pins that I repaired for $120) Gigabyte B550 Aorus mobo (damaged usb connector that I resoldered $50) Bought battlefield 2042 earlier and got a free 500gb WD black drive, Newegg shuffle ram Teamgroup 2 x 8GB -3600 mhz ($40) &  750 Evga g3 PSU I bought brand new on amazon for 49.99. Other parts I had on hand (or got for free) so i'm tossing them in free of charge. I told him I would split the cost of the 3090 with him once i found one for a decent deal but this card is gonna knock the socks off anything he has ever had so he may end up passing lol.
 
Edit: one condition I gave him for me spending time on this was that he had to spend some time playing games with me. I'm going to try and get him hooked on some shooters and maybe some strategy games. I think he would really like civilization. He is an active guy for his age. Always working around his property so it may take some doing but i am going to hold him to it.

Thanks for the context...that's awesome!  For a slow shooter, World of Warships is pretty good for old fogies, especially if they like being the water.  My Dad was a huge Civ player...but very, very slow.  If your dad is into soccer or statistics, Football Manager is always a strong choice (I believe last year's is in the MSFT gamer pass, so that might be a cheap way to get into some games without a big purchase).  I hope you find something you can both play and enjoy together.  
 
Oh, and a shout out for Old World (as a Civ alternative).  Soren is a decent designer (he was a behind Civ IV as I recall) and his new game tries to mitigate the pain of the late game in 4X/Civ-style games. Not a bad choice.

Dads LOVE Westerns...  Red Dead 2 is not difficult and it would resonate with an older crowd.  Just my 2 cents (unsolicited as always :D)
