Alright guys, I just dropped ~$400 on an Optimus block so I can get my 3080ti FTW3 fully watercooled and with hopefully some great temps. My question now is whether I will get this Optimus block before or after I reach the front of the EVGA queue for the 3080ti HC card? - Current ETA for the Optimus block per their website: Shipping on the week of September 13th
- My timestamp for the 3080ti HC (3969) is currently about 8min from the front of the EVGA queue: 12G-P5-3969-KR 6/3/2021 7:52:40 AM PT No

Why are you taking the EVGA block off for the Optimums block?

My 3080ti FTW3 (3967) came with the regular stock cooler, but those thermal throttled the GPU during some games. Then I got a FTW3 hybrid kit, but that only seemed to improve the GPU temps and it actually made the VRAM temps worse for me. So now I might as well just do a full custom loop and replace the FTW3 hybrid kit with the Optimus block, which I'm hoping will be able to keep the GPU and VRAM cooler (amongst the other components, quieter noise, better look, etc). If I get the EVGA HC card before the Optimus block, I'll probably just try to cancel my order for the Optimus block. If I get the EVGA HC card after the Optimus block, I'll probably either pass on it or give it to my brother so he could get an upgrade.

At this point, I have only a very slight hope that I will be able to purchase an MSRP GPU without going over a year in waiting... slight hope. So depressing.

That's not telling me much. He started with an air cooled 3090 and put a Optimus block on it. This is a 3080 Ti card that I thought he was taking the Hydro Copper block off to put the Optimus block on it, but that's not what he is doing after reading his reply. rzelek506

Thanks for sharing. I would also be interested in seeing some controlled experiments comparing the temperatures with the FTW3 Optimus block versus other FTW3 blocks such as EK, EVGA HC, etc. However, I couldn't find much online for this specific topic. But it would be interesting to find out if those results exist somewhere. Otherwise I'm just gonna gamble and hope that this Optimus block cools about the same or better than the other blocks.

I have the Optimus block on my 3090, you will not be disappointed. It most definitely cools better than other blocks, I can guarantee it. Taking mine off this weekend to do a full clean and get some fujipoly extreme thermal pads on the front of the card. Edit: Tried to throw a pic up, dont know if it worked or not lol.

Thanks for sharing, I hope your cleaning and new pads work out well! And I'm also hoping you're right because $400 is expensive for a block lol But if it's the best of the best and it keeps this 3080ti from getting too hot, that should be worth it if the card and block lasts up until at least 5000 series comes out, which should be at least a few years from now. And I don't think your picture worked; but if you try to edit your post, it should let you attach an image file that you can then add to your post.

Seems like Amazon has been retailing very specific models recently. I snagged one Zotac 3070 for Sept delivery at MSRP (whatever that means this year). Still hoping for an EVGA 3080 notification like everyone else.

Adding pics is a nuisance in these forums; basically when you make a post you should click on "Open Full Version" which is in tiny letters at the top of the Quick Reply box. If you are editing a post, it should automatically take you to the full version where you can add a pic.

Appreciate the help, seems like mobile doesn't warn you about 500KB limit for images, thats the issue I was running into. I was among the first to preorder it back in November, I've had it since ~February. Temps have been rock solid since then. Optimus block!

Wow, looks great and that's a massive radiator as well! Is the radiator just standing on top of the chassis or do you have it mounted there somehow?

rzelek506 Alright guys, I just dropped ~$400 on an Optimus block so I can get my 3080ti FTW3 fully watercooled and with hopefully some great temps. My question now is whether I will get this Optimums block before or after I reach the front of the EVGA queue for the 3080ti HC card?- Current ETA for the Optimus block per their website: Shipping on the week of September 13th
- My timestamp for the 3080ti HC (3969) is currently about 8min from the front of the EVGA queue: 12G-P5-3969-KR 6/3/2021 7:52:40 AM PT No
Why are you taking the EVGA block off for the Optimums block?
the optimus blocks get the best temps...it's not even close
Really? Got any stats I can look at on this?
there are quite a few reviews but this one is pretty detailed https://forums.evga.com/m/tm.aspx?m=3236087]https://forums.evga.com/m/tm.aspx?m=3236087[/link]

I have a shelf mounted above the case specifically for the radiator, and thank you!

Same here, usually a delta of 5c under load. Running kryonaut extreme for paste, too chicken to LM a 2G card haha. Absolute monster of a block. When I first got it I was astounded at the weight. Edit: Mine has the power glitch and I've been too lazy to switch it out, but here's a port royal run maxing my gpu out at 34c under load. https://www.3dmark.com/pr/1074944

34C, 40C, that's so insane.. That is what my FTW3 hybrid idles at when the fans are in OC mode lol And that's just for the GPU die, the VRAM junc idles at even hotter temps than that. How hot do your VRAM temps get with the Optimus block?

72c on the mem junction running ethash at +1500. Its honestly nutty. I'm pretty sure its reading the back modules too for junction temp (3090), so the front has to be colder than that. All of the front thermal pads for the Optimus block are .5mm 6wmk fujipoly pads. Looking to replace those with the 17wmk pads this weekend.

That sounds pretty good for an overclocked 3090! I'd be interested in seeing your results as to how the new thermal pads perform compared to the stock pads. Hope it goes well!

If I get the EVGA HC card after the Optimus block, I'll probably either pass on it or give it to my brother so he could get an upgrade.
not sure why you would thermal throttle with the stock cooler, maybe your using a Aircooler vrs a AIO or poor airflow case or both (CPU Aircoolers are not kind to GPUs) anyway i dropped my gpu and vram temp about 10c by placing a noctua 90mm fan directly ontop of my 3090 heat plate above the sqaure opening.thats with a 2100mhz overclock could easily push more well worth the 20 bucks for anyone not intrested in tearing thier card apart.d
