I popped in yesterday to see what was going on in the Land of Queues. I rapidly walked backwards out the door after seeing the collective village shame session in full cabbage and turnip tossing mode.
I'm super happy for folks who have been getting their 3897 notify...It is a long and frustrating line.

I did have the number mixed up. Yeah, go for the FTW3 card for sure, stay away from all models of the 3080 Ti XC3 cards.

Phew, had me worried there for a second lol. Can't fault him for trying to warn people though, if I were about to purchase the XC3 variant and didn't know about the issues I would appreciate being warned.

I'm not sure on this but basically only 3090s that work correctly in my opinion have a back water block or active cooling on the back for the VRAM. I mean a fairly easy fix but still. Some of the FTW3 issues were with the XOC bios trying to draw to much from the PCIE slot and or playing the New World Beta and Alpha. So if not OCing and now playing new world and adding a fan and heatsinks to the back you maybe ok either way?

So I read it. Thank you. And I see evga will now have an issue now that gaming is know to kill the gear. But if you mine and set watts to 280 while keeping ram at a normal clock and put a fan on it the gear won't die. Yet they won't honor miner for warranty, but they will honor a gamer when a game is know to kill the card. I smell class action. Evga will need to rework something. Hope they have a solution. Hint bios will limit the watts= only cheap solution

He could always put it in Step-Up like I did and use the card until his turn hits in the queue. That's the only bright side to buying this card TBH. Cost more in the long run, but he would have a card in the meantime.

I've been using the 3080 Ti for a few days now and have had some behaviour in a few games where framerate has shot up to about 1000 and the card starts buzzing. I shut it down immediately and just set a global framerate limit. Not worth the hassle.
