Dang. I just want the 3080 hybrid that hasn't moved one second since it's 12/16/20 launch. Or should I say it's been stuck at 09xx on launch day time. It's insane.

Depends how much you need the card. If it's for your livelihood or money is not an issue for you, then I would buy it (make sure you trust the person you're buying from though). Personally, I would just wait, but I know that's not an option for everyone.

Whether if it's a good idea or not is subjective. I personally wouldn't do it. $200 is not that much more and I wouldn't want to further encourage scalpers. Plus, I'd rather get it directly from EVGA as I'm not sure how warranties and such go if purchasing it secondhand.

Normally I'd say heeeeeck no, but $200 isn't bad tbh. Then again you are 13 minutes away. In hybrid time that's 7 months with no movement. So it might be worth doing.

So both the 3953 and 3783 queues that today started and restarted, respectively, received modest drops. They were joined by a sprinkling of other drops around the rather lengthy list of queues (please EVGA, no more new queues).
 
As we finish up Camel Day, I continue to hold out some hope of a modest drop to some of the other queues tomorrow.  It does feel like it is getting a bit dry around here as we head towards July 4th weekend. 
 
And dry inevitably means salty.

Currently I have a 2080 ti kingpin hybrid. It does not get me my ideal 200 fps for my asus pg35vq ultrawide 3440x1440p. Everyday i keep waiting and just increases my anxiety level. Might as well pay the extra 150 to $200 to get it over with. I tried waiting in line microcenter and was unable to get one several times. The one selling is from a facebook market lol

If the extra cost is not an issue, buy. If it is, don't buy. That's about all that can be said. You have a stellar card already that you could sell to cover most of the cost, so I guess it's not much of an issue.

We're on page 1541... which reminds me of my first FDD, the beastly Commodore 1541,
which could store a massive 170KB on a disk.  I remember that the minimum package of disks was a 2-pack, and I could not for the life of me figure out why I would need 2 in a lifetime; obviously 1 would be enough.  Oh, how things change.

I would recommend waiting if he is a scalper...if it's a friend...that is not a bad deal...but if it's a scalper, they are most likely fire selling all their cards because at $1700 he would be losing money selling on ebay after ebay seller fees and shipping costs

It all comes down to what you think is worth it to you.  If you spent a ton of time trying to get one and will continue to do so they you should factor what do you deem your time is worth?  Also, like the above poster said the warranty and step up option you have when you buy from EVGA direct is a HUGE plus.  Warranty options are nice, but the option to upgrade is a hidden gem.  Seeing how you are targeting the 3080 already, not much to upgrade there so in your case the step up option is not as great unless you want the 3090 FTW3.  But the option to extend the warranty and also not have to deal with any issues related to warranty repairs coming up since you weren't the original buyer might cause some to think about it further.  EVGA is pretty good at the warranty so unless they change their policy you would have the 3 year warranty from the date of manufacturer.  
 
7 minutes in the queue can keep you waiting for months, so it really depends on how you value your time and the other things that can come up.  

The other thing is why is the seller selling the card.  Maybe he used it for mining or it doesn't perform like it should.  If the card being sold is new in box then that would be better, but if not it could be a red flag as to why you shouldn't.  1700 bucks is a lot of money so I would recommend caution unless that amount is not to you.

Power user here. I had the 1531 tape drive which held a whopping 150 KB on EACH TAPE SIDE! And I had two cassette tapes to store all my programs which I dutifully entered from the monthly Commodore magazine. Lunar Lander baby! And it only took 8 Minutes to load!
