Finally got an email on Friday that the hybrid 3090 was available for me to buy, immediately placed an order, paid my nearly $1900 and got confirmation, just arrived a few minutes ago, opened up the shipping box, and... it's a 3080 xc3 hybrid instead of a 3090 ftw3 hybrid. What the hell?

Tough call. You've got a bit of time to figure it out today. My past experience suggests that the Hybrid queue may move a bit slower than the air-cooled, but I also think folks were later to try to sign up for the hybrid (and only did so after they got an air-cooled registration). Best of luck making the decision. Thanks for reporting back.
I went for it. If the hybrid pops up soon, I'll just buy it and sell this to a friend or someone at cost, that shouldn't be difficult..

Quick question here: No one has really mentioned your note, but can you use the hybrid cooler from the 3080 on the 3080 Ti? I don't know enough about the cards and PCBs to say you can't, but I want to make sure someone who knows more than me is able to confirm before you run into any issues. Anyone who knows, could you please respond?

They have not yet. If it follows how the 3080 Ti went, expect the price on the morning of, just before orders open. You could probably make an educated guess though: the FE launches at $599, so I would add about $100 - $150 for the FTW3 version.
