Bad news from Nvidia via Tom's Hardware. It looks like EVGA won't be getting the chips it needs to make the cards soon for people waiting on the queues.
 
My theory is that a lot of the Government COVID stimulus payments are being used to buy GPUs.
 

Nvidia RTX 30 series stock disaster — it just went from bad to worse

A concatenation of factors has rendered high-powered GPUs, like the Nvidia RTX 3090, incredibly hard to find unless you're willing to spend far more than MSRP. And it seems Nvidia expects little to change for most of this year.
 
On Monday, the GPU maker informed investors of better-than-expected earnings across the board in its first fiscal quarter and predicted that demand for its products will outstrip supply for most of the year. The company told investors that stock of high-end GPUs will remain scarce for some time.


"Overall demand remains very strong and continues to exceed supply while our channel inventories remain quite lean," Nvidia CFO Colette Kress stated in a message to investors. "We expect demand to continue to exceed supply for much of this year. We believe we will have sufficient supply to support sequential growth beyond Q1."
So while Nvidia expects to release enough GPUs into the market to continue its earnings growth, it seems likely that we shouldn't expect high-end Nvidia cards like the GeForce RTX 30 series to get any easier to find for the foreseeable future.
 
That's in line with reports we heard months ago that online retailers, like Alternate, were expecting the GeForce RTX 30 series stock disaster to get worse before it gets better. This is due in large part to materials shortages and temporary factory shutdowns due to Chinese New Year.
 
Factor in the increased demand that both Nvidia and rival AMD have reported for their high-end graphics cards during the ongoing global pandemic, and you have a recipe for slim picking on the GPU front for months to come.

Well that's not good.  Makes we wonder if RTX 4000 will still come out in Q3/Q4 2022 or if it'll get pushed back until supply stabilizes.

My crystal ball is no better than anyone else's, but I would guess Nvidia will introduce the next generation as soon as it can. The next generation probably requires a new fab, that Samsung or TSMC is working on building. If there is still a shortage, Nvidia will probably continue to produce the 3000s from the existing fab, alongside with the 4000s from the new fab.
 
No way is Nvidia going to coast while AMD is hot on its heels and apparently getting closer. And with Intel getting ready to seriously compete with both.
 
The demands of Office applications (MS Office, Corel Office, etc.) have not grown significantly in the past few years, meaning that business users have had little reason to upgrade CPUs. If the demands of gaming programs start to level off (a question on which I have zero knowledge), demand for ever more powerful GPUs might start to drop--and that would be a factor in alleviating shortages.
 
Another factor to consider: If COVID drops off and entertainment opens up, people may decide to spend on concerts, sports events, travel, etc., instead of dropping $1000+ for a high end GPU. Except for Sheldon on Big Bang Theory, given the choice, most single men would rather spend money on drinks, trying to attract women, than on graphics cards, games and computers to play alone at home.
 
Having to bet billions of dollars on production decisions based on many unknown variables affecting supply and many unknown variables affecting demand must be a daunting task.

My wife has told me to watermark all of my shares.  I don't really care about that.  It's like if you like it, then let it go.  No one has my background.  I was in my own moments, so no one else has the pics that drive this art.  If you like it, take it.  Use it wherever you want, just give SQ some credit.

The evga 1080 ti hybrid  is one of the best cards ever made by evga.

Yup. And it hurts me to think about it. I thought I was being responsible at the time. Sell the 1080ti and use that money to buy the new 3000 series.

Tell me about it; sold my EVGA 1060 in September in "anticipation" of Ampere... what a goof... worst part, I practically gave it away at $160 CAD. Probably could have asked twice that for it today.

Yup enough to pay for new ones MSRP its insane actually.

a 4000 series launch with minimal improvements like the 2000 series would be nice, not as many people wanting to upgrade and more supply.

I am still trying to figure out the best settings for my games, I didn't like the initial change from my rx5500xt, but I am getting there...

this one is a 3070 going to my friend at church... he had been asking me to build him a gaming rig since last year, but getting a gpu has been the issue... just waiting on the cable for the cpu fan and it will be ready for him.
 

Sorry forgot to report back yesterday, got my notification for the 3080 ftw3 hybrid yesterday!

Anybody know why the For Sale or Trade forum doesn't work?  I click on any post there and it just goes to the EVGA main page.
Got the Shuffle 3080 delivered yesterday and I was going to post it there to make sure a gamer gets a card.  Anyone know a good place to sell to a legit gamer?

Nope... no idea why it isn't working. I'm a legit gamer though. Which model do you have and what are you asking for it? Or does that break some rule and it has to be in private messages or something?

I wasn't originally interested in the air-cooled 3080 FTW3 due to the cooler design, but a GPU is better than not.  Last night almost snagged a 3080 FTW3 Ultra at MSRP (post-tariff) but lost it when trying to checkout as Amazon decided *that* was the appropriate time to randomly password-check me.  This happens so rarely that I don't remember the password off-hand.  Oh well, always another chance.
