I honestly cant wait for the 3080 ti to drop. Probably my only chance at a card right now tbh :p

Same here.  I guess it's all about getting on that notify queue as early as possible the day it opens.  I only learned about the queue long after they had been open for the previous cards so this will be my first chance to try for day 1.  Any tips or advice from those who have managed to get in early before?

second this. I have been waiting 6 months for the 3897 so maybe I'll have a shot at it

I'm looking forward to another race to the queue. Now that I know a little more about how it works.

Alright I'm done with the shuffle.  I thought I could help people get a card by not cancelling the 3080 order but the market clearly shows that it's not worth trying to sell it for cost (really below what it cost me with the crap motherboard it came with) even though they sell like hotcakes on eBay for $1000 more, used.
Won the 3070 bundle today that was $919 for the guy who's been begging for me for MONTHS to get him a "$800 3070" and he decided he wouldn't pay for the cost of getting it, because he can't use the $130 motherboard that comes with it.  Cancelled that order and the 3080 bundle going back to newegg on Monday.

I blame myself.  As a car salesman, I should have known that people are ridiculous about paying for something at the price it actually costs.   I've got my 3090 coming from step-up and I'll take the hydro if it ever shows up.   Other than that, I'm out.

I don't know, I'm honest and upfront.  If someone is clearly barking up the wrong vehicle I tell them why and help them get into one they can actually afford.  Lost more sales being honest than I ever did biting my tongue but customers are happier if you treat them like adults.  I like the job because everyone who buys leaves happy.
Only thing I don't like is people who think the company has to lose money just for the privilege of selling THEM something.  Usually they say something like "this truck costs more than my house."  Yeah, grandpa, milk was 50 cents a gallon when you bought your house, too.

I would never say you weren't.  Sales person doesn't mean bad person.  I just figure you know that people dance with buyer's remorse all the time.  That's why your friends freak out over something that is pretty much a luxury item for anything over a 3060.  The 3060 is still a luxury item too, but more reasonable.

I'd just list it on FBM/CL at cost or whatever you're comfortable with, it should sell relatively quickly assuming you don't live in some rural area with a double digit population.

Buyer's remorse is just fear.  Fear of doing the wrong thing or not getting the best deal.  I understand that and can help people see that getting a good deal now is better than getting a great deal never.  I also understand that people who demand the great deal now are never going to be happy anyway, so why bother.

With the card situation getting worse for many months before it gets better, I probably should hold on to the 3080 and sell it for twice the asking price once people are desperate.  But, you know what, I deal with that enough at work.  If good enough isn't good enough, then I'm just going to play video games and let people sort it all out on their own.

For 1080p the 3060 and especially 3060Ti are the bomb.  My 3090 is for 4K gaming and future proofing (in theory).  But yeah, the 3080 would do fine for what I want now, too.  Heck, my wife's 3070 can handle 4K with RTX and DLSS on, for the most part.

From www.techspot.com. Possible good news:Boxes of RTX 3080 Ti 12GB GPUs have been photographed on their way to LA

Seemingly confirming an imminent release

By Isaiah Mayersen, Today 10:24 AM 24 comments

Highly anticipated: Pallets of MSI GPUs have been photographed in transit to Los Angeles. In amidst the eclectic assortment is the upcoming "GeForce RTX 3080 Ti Ventus 12G OC," which will, as the armchair generals of the forums have it, release in a month’s time.
Caught in the camera’s lens are a handful of pallets, each containing a dozen boxes of maybe a hundred GPUs. The well-protected crate is labeled with the 3090 and aforementioned 3080 Ti. The cardboard boxes contain GeForce GT 710’s and Radeon RX 580’s.

If the 3080 Ti is shipping to distribution centers now, then it should release soon. The popular prediction is mid-May. The expectation that the Ti will be paired with 12 GB of memory also finds support in MSI’s package label; the "12G" in the card’s lengthy name couldn’t mean much else, but there’s some risk of it being incorrect.
The current, if dubious predictions about the Ti pin the card’s core count at 10,240 and its boost clock at 1,665 MHz. If those figures are true, then it will perform like a 3090, but with a little luck, it’ll be priced closer to the vanilla 3080.
It could even be cheaper if it has a built-in mining limiter that makes it less valuable to the crypto-crazed. And if the mining limiter works…

RTX 3090, 3080 TI sandwiched between GT 710 and RX 580  .    What is the world coming to, rx 580 & GT 710   sharing the podium with rtx 3090 & 3080 TI.

The 3060TI is probably the sweet spot.  I mean, sure, the 3080 is awesome, but it's hard to come across.

Nick - If you don't.

17 hours later, I'm high 90s bpm.  That's better than 120, but still high.  The shoulder pain is there.  Not terrible, but I can feel it.  Especially if I lean on my elbow.  I don't know how I compare to the average person, but for your reference, I am something like middle-aged.  Maybe it's easier for our 20 something and 70 something friends.

Enjoy your Sunday if you can.

Oh well.. I’m sure someone on the forum would take the 3080 combo off of your hands. In fact, I would have thought your pm inbox would have been bombarded since you posted about it.

Far be it from me to give advice, but you could wait till the last minute return window could you not?

I saw a “3 of 4 sold” listing on scam bay for a whopping $2987. So 1500 might be “letting it go cheap” if one was so inclined.

hence the +. i'm more so referencing hardwareswap with buyer budgets, but listings go up for ~$2k all the time.

I'm currently on the GPU hunt for two people and was very clear with them about their max price and preferred brands.  Been down this road before with people being fickle and I get stuck with hardware.

Yea, I feel like I ran 8 miles yesterday.  Then did 1000 situps.  It's not terrible, but my lungs feel somewhat violated, and my hip flexors are tender.  Ribs too.  The price of getting out of our bunkers I guess.

all they have to do is build it and it will sell out immediately, Don't think that an incentive to rush the 4000 series, j.s.

I know everyone has already said it lol but i would be happy to buy that gpu off you. Just sayin :p

I was just at my local micro center and they had about 12-13 6900XT cards.

I was tempted. Never gone team red. Was tempted to do so for the first time.

The whole wait made it tempting for me to go to 6000 series cards also. But after seeing the disparity in performance when it comes to Adobe apps between nvidia cards and amd cards, I didn't go for it.
