I suppose everyone has their own definition. By my opinion, forums are not social media. In my opinion, social media emphasizes a person's profile and sharing and displaying information person to person and profile to profile. To me, social media is the process of building a collection of media inside of a profile so that a person or organization can display themself in the way they desire, in a system where other profiles are able to comment, like, or share the information, as they see fit, in order to add on a sliver to their own profiles. Having organized groups of discussions in a forum does not fit my definition of social media. You may have a different opinion and definition.

Thank you! Entered! Hoping to win that motherboard to have an excuse to build a new PC =D! Edit: You also don't have to sign up and post all your info on any social media site for the public to see, you can keep everything hidden except for your name, which shouldn't really be a big deal anyways.

Most of these events do not require you to login to anything, only visit the sites. So, you won’t be social media’ing anyway.

With the below I can now see your point a little. Forums, after all, are inherently social -- they bring people together on common ground. But others disagree. Forums are not " social media" because they don't like the negative connotations of social media (such as being "poked" like on Facebook). ... Forum discussion continues at High Rankings Forum. But with this "because they don't like the negative connotations of social media" and we have a lot of this on this Forum. We have a lot of negative postings on this Forum that is, not always a "High Rankings Forum".

Huh. I guess I must not understand the article. I still don't know how you are supposed to sign up nor what they want from you. The best I can understand, EVGA wants you to build a computer, take a bunch of pictures of it and post them on Instagram, and tag EVGA somehow to prove that you did what they asked of you. Record each step and take photographs of your progress. Share, Like, and enter to win some great prizes, but think twice if asked to lend a hand or two!
And what is Gleam? Beats me. How to enter: Sign Into Gleam Choose from the options to enter
Sign into Gleam, it says. But how? Where? No link?

Could they make it any more confusing? Ok, now that takes me to an Instagram page where I have to either create an Instagram account or log in with Facebook. Well, I don't have a Facebook account. Instagram? I'll pass. So what was the point of logging in with my Amazon account? And what does Gleam have to do with the whole thing? Better luck next time, EVGA. Next time, place the links and instructions in order, label the links appropriately to indicate their purpose (instead of a +1 button), and don't bounce people around between 2 pop-ups and 3 different companies.
