I've had this keyboard for quite a time, although I haven't truly used it to its full potential (setting up proper Macros and 4k rate) I was generally happy with this product.
The only issue I had at first is sometimes it would just disconnect itself for no reason and I had to reconnect the USB cable back onto my PC.
Today, I had no issues, I didn't hit/punch/damage my keyboard, when suddenly, the RGB is just gone. The keyboard itself works fine, and when I press the FN key, it lights the correct keys with white color, but I just simply couldn't bring the colors back.
I tried it all, I reconnected the keyboard, restarted my PC, used a different port, tried FN + Up arrow, checked and updated Unleashed software and even set it back to factory settings, but just nothing fixed it.
It's a real shame for this keyboard to have such issues which I am not familiar with other brands having, I really had my hopes up and I still love the keyboard to this day, I even know that EVGA has always tried to sell only quality products and continues to do so. I just really expected more, especially from such a reputable brand.
I'm desperate, any help?

I made a post yesterday with the exact same issue. Tried everything I could think of short of plugging it into a separate pc. Which I will try tonight. Very frustrating. Hopefully we get an answer soon.

Out of curiosity, when did you guys buy yours? I got my EVGA Z20 Linear on the 18th of February 2021

11/21 from Newegg. Been fine until about a month ago. Fooled with the setting and it started working fine again until this time.

You wouldn't happen to have of hit the FN key and the down arrow key? Might be worth trying the FN and the up arrow to see if something just dimmed it to off.

I purchased the z20 through NewEgg in February, and it's been finicky for months, randomly turning off and requiring me to unplug USB. I've got a brand new PC, and it's clearly not my USB ports that are the problem.
Today I experienced the same problem of the backlights failing utterly aside from the white keys holding down the FN Key, and Unleash isn't helping either.
I can't register the product as the site says my part number doesn't match for the USA? "The Serial Number is not related to the part number. If you are outside North America, please check your profile under Member Home to ensure your country is set properly."
How can I RMA this thing if it won't let me register it? I've been a fan of EVGA GPUs (and sad that you won't be making them anymore!) and motherboards for a decade or more, but I've had terrible luck with the power supplies and now this keyboard has failed as well.
Firmware updated, yes I am pressing the right keys, uninstalled and reinstalled Unleash, etc. yadda yadda... Customer service doesn't have a live chat feature? And it's closed on weekends.
Please help!

So I just encountered the exact same problem, though for a little while it was less bad as in it could be fixed just by disconnecting/reconnecting. Then that stopped working. I'm connecting it through a dock to my laptop, so I tried connecting to my laptop directly instead, didn't work either. I tried everything I could think of with the RGB software and almost decided to download SignalRGB (because they support the Z20) but decided to try going into device manager, uninstalling all the keyboard devices, and restarting. After restarting, it didn't work either, but I started noticing a weird artifact with the screen and realized it's possible that my dock was dying??? So I swapped to a different very similar dock and now RGB works again.
I'm pretty sure it was the step of uninstalling all keyboard devices in device manager and restarting that worked for me, but I'm not sure how the old dock dying had anything to do with it since everything apart from RGB was working fine, and the display artifact issue only showed up once I restarted.

In the past we offered a firmware update to help with strange compatibility and this was likely resolved with this or warranty since this is an old thread. In your case it is possible that the dock was causing some sort of issue with the keyboard receiving the signal or power, but I am glad to hear that you were able to narrow it down and fix it. I bought mine 2022-Jun-11 and had to have it replaced 1 month after purchase. Then 1 month after receiving a replacement it started doing the same thing all over again. So for a year, I have been dealing with this keyboard randomly turning itself off and then back on in the middle of typing, randomly disconnecting itself requiring USB to be unplugged and plugged back in. After checking with the place I bought this keyboard from, it shows as discontinued. This is very disappointing. Everything about this keyboard looks and feels like a quality keyboard but its reliability is atrocious. It is 100% a defective product line. Had I known it was going to be this much hassle I would have just bought a much cheaper red dragon mechanical and not worried about this kind of issue.
