lcabezas iai290 zoltanthegypsy iai290 How about, when are we going to get a changelog that says "Hauppauge tv tuners finally work with this motherboard" Hmmm, My HVR 1250 seems to be working fine. What problems are you having? Z. The same problem almost every other owner is having with the 1800/1850.. It just isn't detected. Which means drivers don't install and the card doesn't work. I have a problem with my tv tuner also but in my Classified motherboard. My tv tuner is avermedia and it locks up my pc when Windows starts, card works fine with my 780i. I just sent Jacob my tv tuner card for testing with my Classified, I have been talking and calling EVGA about it since Classified was released! Email Jacob and keep bugging him about it and send him your tv tuner card for testing because there seems to be something wrong with these motherboards. If he doesn't asnwer you call EVGA and ask to talk to the highest ranking person. I got help once I started getting upset and asking to talk to someone higher than the normal customer service rep after many many months of not really been helped. I have been following up with Jacob about my tv tuner problem and he seems like he is going to help me out with mine so email him and maybe send him your card for testing. Good luck. I'll post my status about it in the forums once they finish debuging it, my card should arrive at Jacob's office tomorrow. I've emailed them and all I have gotten is - Answered By Garrett H (11/05/2009 7:53:02 PM): Philip, This issue is being worked on in conjunction with our engineers and the Hauppauge engineers. There is not a solution yet. Regards, EVGA. Which is depressing since like you said, it's a day #1 problem. And the last time I sent something to evga, I got slapped with a $70 fedex fee, which I haven't paid.

I have been telling them and bugging Jacob about it for months. I wonder how much longer till we get it fixed. I'm guessing since Hauppauge is working with EVGA it might be them at fault and they are lagging, who knows. I just hope EVGA can get a fix soon.

I didn't updated my BIOS since I had my board, currently running SZ2F. I see that there are some S3 improvements in the later BIOS revisions. I currently have 3 HDDs connected on the Intel controller, 1x640gb as single drive and 2x1TB as RAID1. Do I have to do something special when updating a BIOS with drives in RAID? Thanks!

You will need to clear cmos before and after the flash and thus need to re-setup the RAID afterwards.

Ok re-setup it in the BIOS (or also in the RAID's controller 'BIOS'?) Is there any chance to lose data in the process?

Re-setup both. As long as you don't clear the drives and you set them back up as they were prior to flashing, you should be fine.

lam_das EVGATech_JacobF lam_das When are we going to be delighted with a Changelog saying "S3 issues finally fixed...:)"... EVGA, please delight us! We paid you $300 for this board! Gave you a good name for good customer service all over the net! Let me know if you have forgotten what S3 issues we are facing. They are documented in the archive, under every BIOS released since the beginning of time. But lastly, they were all documented in SZ2P thread. Does it say 1.0 or 1.1 on your board? I have rev 1.1 board. So, my S3 issues are not even related to rev 1.0, where S3 was completely screwed up. I know this may be dumb question, but what is S3 ????

I am still putting along with SZ2E at the cost of some random heckling of my BIOS version when I post my BIOS template on this site. Is there any reason I should consider updating my BIOS? What changes may I find desirable since SZ2E? I figure if it aint broke...

S3 is a sleep mode (Search Google for more info), I'm not having any issues with sleep on my setup, this includes a 4x Velociraptor 150 RAID 0 setup! I prefer Sleep to shutdown, waking the PC is definately faster than starting it up from a powered off state when I want to use it. I am not going to use this BIOS update until I have a 2TB+ HD on my system, LOL

I was thinking may be something changed in the BIOS which might have fixed the S3 issues. Wishful thinking... SZ2X does not solve any of the S3 issues. Just to document the issues (and these are repeatable as many times as you want): 1. If the vcore is not set to Auto, the S3 resume fails on the third attempt (and exactly 3rd) every time. The machine resume 2 times, but on third sleep, it just boots up normally instead of resuming to my desktop. Filesystems are unclean and a check is forced. 2. If the vcore is set to Auto, the S3 resume works 5 times (exactly 5 times), decreasing the VREG and SYSTEM temperatures with every suspend-resume cycle. The 6th time, the temperatures of the VREG and SYSTEM are very high for idle. Its almost 20C hotter on 6th attempt than the 5th attempt. Fresh boot is about 10C hotter than the 5th resume. It almost seems like some internal voltage (not the usual reported ones like vDimm, vcore, vtt etc.) is falling with every suspend-resume cycle (I noticed vDimm falling on the first resume when vcore is not set to Auto) and hence the system is becoming colder. And then, if the vcore is set to Auto, it makes adjustments to bring those voltages back up on 6th attempt and hence makes the system hotter. No such adjustments can be made if the vcore is set manually, and hence the system fails to resume on 3rd attempt in that case. Also, note that the voltages reported are not changing much anymore on resume with the BIOS's after SZ2P. I think this is a very annoying problem and its fairly easily reproduced. Evga should look into fixing this. The above summary is a good hint towards the potential problem.
EVGA X58 SLI Rev 1.1 i7 920 D0 LinX/Prime Stable 4.4(21x210) HT ON 1.3125vcore, +100mV, vDIMM 1.625v, Rest Auto OCZ Gold 6GB 1680 (2:8) 9 9 9 24 1T Prolimatech Megahalems (Push/Pull) Because of S3 issues: 21x196, Auto vcore, 2:8, 8-8-8-24-1T 12GB.

@ lam_das : I note your sig says you have a rev1.1 board.. do you still have these issues on that board, as I see further up the page an EVGA tech stating the problem is specific to rev1.0 and was fixed in rev1.1 **edit** I see you already answered this (it's still an issue with rev1.1 as well). Thanks.

I sent customer support a description of this problem the other day and they said "try the new BIOS, I think it is fixed there." Umm... the only thing the new BIOS even CLAIMS to fix is the 2TB HDD support. What's even more amusing is this is about the third time I've been told "try the new BIOS" rather than actually having my problem looked at. Seriously, if I get told to "try the new BIOS" one more time... Perhaps if EVGA spent more time reading the forums and less time unnecessarily upgrading them?

Evga should look into fixing this. The above summary is a good hint towards the potential problem. I am interested by all these reports. I originally had a rev 1.1 board, but had to RMA it due to a problem totally unrelated to S3. My replacement board was a 1.0 and I immediately feared all these problems. But, my rev 1.0 board actually works as good (or maybe even better) than my 1.1 board. Now, perhaps EVGA replaced a chip or something on it before sending to me. But, I have never had the problems you describe on either board. I suspect there is some crazy variable involved and there are so many variables. Now, on an older BIOS (sorry, forget which one), I did have an issue where when resuming after S3 my Vcore was higher. But, that got fixed with a BIOS update. But, I have never had my PC not resume from sleep. Maybe I am just very lucky, but I suspect the real issue is not truly tied to rev 1.0 vs. 1.1. Just curious, have you tried to RMA your board? And, if so, do you have the same symptoms on the replacement board?

I'm trying to update my BIOS but can't seem to boot from my CD. Tried to use the "hit escape key method" but it seems to pass it right by. Next I changed my boot sequence to boot from CD first and it still zips on by. What I'm I missing?????

In Burning ROM: recorder -> burn image At a quick look, I don't see how you get an image burn option from the Nero Home/express menu, so drill down to Burning ROM, or maybe just right click on the iso file and select "open with nero". Z.

Rev 1.0 board and i still have S3 resume issues. All previous issues are still happening but now i have another problem to add to the mix. After resumeing from sleep when i try to reboot my system it stays locked into the shutdown sequence and stays locked in this mode. My screen goes black, the HDD LED's shutoff, the fans continue to spin and it will stay like this indefinately. I have tested it several times and have let it sit like this for upto 15 minutes and it still wont shut down properly. Simply put: After resuming from Sleep my system wont restart, period. In fact, i have to turn the PSU off from the power switch in order ot get it to re-boot. Numerous BIOS revisions and still no fix. This S3 resume problem is getting really really old. I paid several hundred dollars of my hard earned money for a broken board. Anyone know what the hell is going on? Any suggestions?

I can reproduce this issue (system not turning off completely during or after S3 sleep) at 21x210 (anything higher than 21x195) on my 1.1 rev board. What I have found is that if you overclock using manual vcore as opposed to Auto, S3 problems are somewhat exacerbated. So, if you have a good CPU (meaning Auto vcore can give you a decent clock), use Auto vcore and overclock. You will have S3 working with some quirks (see my other posts in this thread). I use Auto vcore for my D0. I got 21X194 stable under LinX and its more than enough because S3 works for 5 consecutive attempts and then I need to hibernate once and I am good for another 5 S3 sleeps. I have extremely stable 4.4 Ghz clock with low temps (in my sig), but I can't use it because of S3 issues...@Evga: wake up! Have you put yourself into S3 sleep using your own X58 board?
