Ok guys, Having bit of a problem here and it has me really puzzled as to the cause. While I can OC my sys to QPI to 222 with no problem, if I change the QPI to anything higher than 222 will hang at 75 (which is HD detection) or 89 ( which is ACPI load). I have been through just about every voltage combination I can think of without burning things up and still same hang. I've disconnected HDs, disabled Raid, even disabled ACPI and still it hangs. Any idea? Really need to get past 222. I know this board can do it. I've seen quite a few post with them easily hitting 223 and higher. So what gives with my board?

Wish I could help you, I have a 965 that will NOT go past 25X160 ( With a V8 cooler) , and a 920 that will not go past 21X210,( with a NH-U12P-SE ); so you are already higher than I can go. I know that each chip and setup is diferent, but you are in uncharted teratory for me.

Bump up the PCI-E to 101 or 102

So you've made phenomenal progress, since you know the BIOS error codes are bogus. Try E-Leet to avoid any boot problem. You can at least get additional data which may provide some insight if you get booted into the OS just to take a quick peek at 223, maybe more.

That also is a problem. If I boot into Win7 and use Eleet to increase QPI just 1 step (222 to 223), the system hardlocks when I click apply. Have to hit reset.

Thank you. At least I know you're up against a serious wall. I haven't gotten there yet. Mine still clunks along, okay for now. With the impossible I tell myself that is the end. Then for several days, a couple weeks, it becomes a mantra. Then one more day and the problem is solved. I hate this stuff. [edit] I'm starting to wonder if it isn't rather something other than the main loop of processor and memory, something else on the motherboard. [end edit] I hope you keep us up-to-date on this issue.

Well following the ACPI path and updating back to 1H bios I can get it to boot now at QPIs upto 250+ but there is a catch. Seems I have to disable ACPI in the bios to do it. The catch is tho that Win7 will not boot with ACPI disabled or even install. Rather than being a Catch 22 situation it more like a Catch 222.

I have read a lot of your posts helping people and you seem to be a very knowledgeable person. For me 222 was the limit no matter what until I bumped up the PCIE to 101 or higher of course to high and network quits working and suppose other things may also.

Well, I've actually worked out what was causing the problem. Now I'm up to 229. What I had to do made no real sense tho. I had to go to memory settings and set Freq to AUTO then DISABLE Memory Control. I then had to set Strapping to AUTO and UNCore to AUTO. After that I've beem able to boot higher QPI from BIOS with lower voltages and still have my memory running at same speed and timings. Go figure huh? Here's a little pic of the progress.

Well, issue resolved. New bios fixed it right up. Have a look see. Ole Jacob got it right this time.

I noticed you had CPU PLL set to 1.425 instead of 1.8v in post #8...can you add some detail on how you arrived at that setting?

The pll used on the x58 boards have an operating voltage range of 1.350 to 1.825v. I chose that voltage level as it seemed high enough to drive the pll as opposed to the minimum of 1.350. Anyway. The issue was resolved with the latest bios.

Does anyone know if this kind of value [1.425] for CPU PLL Vcore would reduce power dissipation anything at all, even remotely, like a reduction in Vcore or Vtt would?
