Hi,
I installed the BIOS 64, and now windows refuse to boot, It stops at the "startup windows" screen. It've got the same problem with a boot by DVD-ROOM.
I'm open to any suggestions XD

Everything is A-OK! EVGA is working on the bios update now so that all 6 cores are detected in the bios bootup screen as only (4) post currently. Has far as Windows goes all 12-Cores are fully detected.  I've had no problems thus so far thanks for the bios update EVGA! :)

Did you add the awdflash.exe file to the usb stick? type from the a:\ prompt: dir/w to see if all the files are there , Particularly awdflash.exe and your E76064.bin file.

luckyluke

Now my i7 980x A0 i cant OC or use stock settings, the system just get BSODS...Now i have flashed back to 59 and i`am having F3 code on the LED..
What the hell is that?

Luke, I hope you didn't push that A0 pas the limit. Their IMC was not the strongest.  If you getting those errors, you might want to buy a new CPU. Inspect you contact pads on the bottom of you CPU for pitting, discolorations, and shorts too. Good luck, Bro!

I just went from 49 to this one and needed more Vtt just to POST. The flash went fine, but when I tried to load my previous overclock, it wouldn't POST until I increased from +175 to +200. I don't see any difference otherwise, so I may go back to 49.

Do you mean you tried loading a profile you saved while running 49? If so then you should never use profiles from previous bios.

You know they do Monkey, out of sheer laziness. Then when the machine borks on them, it's the bios fault. Either copy you profiles settings prior to Flashing the bios. Or start from scratch. DO NOT USE Profiles from your previous bios installaions in the new bios.

Re:EVGA X58 Motherboards - BIOS 64 Released Monday, May 17, 2010 11:30 PM (permalink)
These forums are great for setting up various overclock scenarios.

I would like to overclock but not that high. I have an i7 920 in an EVGA x58 SLI board with Corsair TR3X6G1600C8D (timings 8-8-8-24) tripple channel Dominator series memory and would like to get to 3.3 to 3.6 from the CPU? I also have a very efficiently cooled chassis (AZZA Fantom) and Corsair Hydro Series H50 CPU cooler.

Also, is there a thread that discusses what ALL of the BIOS settings are for and how to configure them? Even if they should be left alone, I am curious about what all of the settings are for.

Even though you referenced my post, I hope you aren't talking about *me* when you say "they" because that's not what I did at all. This BIOS just needs more Vtt for me, and that's it. I'm still using it and its fine, I just can't use the +175 setting that I was using before, not that big of a deal. It was just an observation. Oddly enough though, after the bump in Vtt, I gave it a bump in QPI, and it's stable so it worked out in the end anyway.

After mounting the new firmware, my creative x-fi elite pro sound card in the game, suddenly howling, and then no sound will be normal after reboot. My cpu is the i7 920, no overclocking, the default BIOS settings.
Board has been purchased is disabled onboard the HD AUDIO, using a separate sound card.

Disable HD Audio (internal sound) in the BIOS, and try it again.

Uptade from 49 to 64 and so far so good.

The 1.5x uncore is great, it make me reach this:
http://img52.imageshack.us/img52/8255/0634506.jpg

But with 64 I need 2 or 3+ notches of vcore.

CPU: i7 980X + HK 3.0 + Black Ice GTX360
MB: Asus Rampage III Extreme + EK-FB block
Sound: Logitech Z-5500
HDs: SSD Crucial C300 128GB + WD VelociRaptor 300GB + Seagates (2x 500GB .12 raid 0 + 1TB .12 32MB + 2x 1,5TB 32MB)
RAM: 3x 2GB Corsair Dominator GT DDR3-2000 CL7
VGAs: 3x Gigabyte GTX 580 (loading + EK blocks)
PSU: Enermax Evo 1250W
Case: Corsair Obsidian 800D
Monitor: Dell U2711 27"

It's safe to assume that EVGA has given up on fixing the S3 Resume issues.

Thanks for taking my money for a board that is broken and that you refuse to fix.

Last EVGA board i will buy.

It may not be BIOS a issue. My 758 resumes perfectly from sleep every time even past 4.2 ghz. You might just might need a newer rev board

EVGA has stated many times it happens with 1.0 & 1.1 boards.  Overclocked or stock setting my board has never resumed properly.

What we have here is the old "Luck of the draw" scenario.

Fact is that they released a board that wasn't throughly tested.  I'll bet they called it "good enough for release" and hoped for the best.

I still stand by my statement. Last EVGA board i will ever buy.

If EVGA wants to make right by it they can send me a board that has been tested and works on their dollar. Im not wasting another cent of my own money on their products.

While it is not a deal breaker for me, the above poster is right in that there are many for whom resume from sleep just does not work. Has never worked consistently for me on my revision 1.1 758 board, both at stock settings and overclocked settings. Might work 2 or 3 times, then blammo would crash or freeze.

I suspect there are certain configurations that it just will not work with.

Again, for me it is not a deal breaker and other than that issue I love my EVGA X-58 board. But getting a board/configuration that will successfully and consistently resume from sleep is hit or miss.

If you use manual vcore (no matter if its large or small, overclocked or not), your 3rd resume will just reboot the box. Consistently 100% reproduction with a 1.1 revision board. But Evga refuses to acknowledge the issue.

There is no hit or miss about it. Its broken on 758 boards. Period.

Hmm, well the most I have been able to successfully resume from sleep is 5 times , then on the 6th try mine froze up...  usually though it will freeze up or crash after two or three attempts.

Auto at first, then manual as I raised my overclock.
Happened in both instances.

On YOUR board.  Not everyone's.  My 1.1 board runs 24/7 and sleeps maybe twice per day, mostly at night. I don't see this, never have.  I also keep a close eye on voltage and temps, and do not see the voltage fluctuation upon resume some see.

I'm not saying there is no issue; obviously there is.  But it's not 100% across the board(s).

How far back do you want to go? Before 980x support?

If you use manual vcore (no matter if its large or small, overclocked or not), your 3rd resume will just reboot the box. Consistently 100% reproduction with a 1.1 revision board. But Evga refuses to acknowledge the issue.

There is no hit or miss about it. Its broken on 758 boards. Period.

So, you are saying you can sleep to S3 (and not S1) state as many times as you want. You are the first 758 board that I have heard of where S3 works. S1 works but it doesn't power off the system.

Please confirm u are not talking about S1 sleep.

Also, the voltages don't fluctuate. Temperatures do! By as much as 25C in the best and worst case.

EVGA X58 SLI Rev 1.1
i7 920 D0 LinX/Prime Stable 4.4(21x210) HT ON
1.3125vcore, +100mV, vDIMM 1.625v, Rest Auto
OCZ Gold 6GB 1680 (2:8) 9 9 9 24 1T
Prolimatech Megahalems (Push/Pull)
Because of S3 issues: 21x196, Auto vcore, 2:8, 8-8-8-24-1T 12GB.

lam_das, I know you did not ask me, but I can confirm that S3 sleep works perfect for me on my rev 1.0 E758 board.  It also worked perfect for me on my rev 1.1 board which I had to RMA due to another issue.  My OC BCLK is 180, so not sure if that is part of the puzzle.  It seems that some have attributed the S3 issue to higher BCLKs, but you mention that you have the problem even with stock clocks.  And, yes, I am sure it is S3 and not S1.

I bet there is some odd combination of parts on certain batches of E758s or an odd combination of other hardware hooked to E758s that causes this issue.  It just seems that it must be something like that if it is so repeatable for some users and others have absolutely no problems.

I wonder if EVGA collected details on this issue like they have been for the USB issue if they would find any commonality.
