Not sure why you guys are so bothered by the 1.2 vtt. If you set your vdimm to 1.65 then the 1.15 you think you should be running for vtt will place difference between vdimm and vtt right at max distance which could be dangerous. At default 1.2-1.24 it places you at a much safer level for vtt/vdimm difference.

Hell, the Auto default vtt for my 975 is +250 which places my vtt at 1.45-1.5v. And you're worried about 1.2v?

+1   Nothing will happen to your chip guys.

+1 my Rig if you like it

Some chips ( e.g. A0 E.S. ) are sensitive to VTT, and with +250 most of them wouldn't even POST ;)

It's not a serious threat for the retail B1 chips, but it's a good thing to have in mind when overclocking.

For high UnCore's on LN2 I used to pump 1.75Vtt to my i7 950, applying +650mV with this BIOS would give my chip 1.85Vtt, and it wouldn't post or die :p

S3 is very nice.  I use it on my office computer -- it turns on nice and snappy.  That is especially useful for Wake on Lan -- when I'm at work or school and want to remote in to my office computer I just use wake on lan and voila it is on again about 15 seconds later and ready to be remoted into.  Without S3 I'd either have to leave it on all the time (not good) or boot it up remotely via WOL -- and since you can't see the boot progress  it can be a PITA.  So yeah, for Wake On Lan, S3 is really nice.

My gaming rig, I don't use it.  Why not?  Because my roommate or his daughter always hit the keyboard and wake it up on me.  It uses a lot of power so I just turn it off til I'm ready to game.

So, for gaming and benching and enthusiast type stuff, I don't think S3 is a big deal.  But on a computer used for work and remote logging in, S3 is a godsend.
You can disable the "Wake with keyboard press" and use the power button to wake up your system. You get the benefit of S3 but not the annoyance of waking it up accidentally. For me S3 is a huge deal on the overclocked system because by definition overclocked system uses more power. So, to be able to put it to temporary sleep and wake it up on demand when needed with all the sessions and windows intact, is godsend!

Sounds like you have problems in between you and EVGA FTP Server.

Is there an error number (ie 124, 101, 9c, 3b) listed with the bsod?

DONT FLASH if you have a 980x, my system was unstable at stock settings, now i have flashed back to 59 and i`am stucked with F3 ERROR!

My system isn't stable at default settings either, and I'm using 49. I may give this revision a try though, it sounds solid enough for most, so why not. I can always go back.

As far as this Turbo Mode. I understand that it's for a 980X, but would it be beneficial using an overclock, or would it just be better to leave off?

Be careful guys, the default VTT setting is off.
At Auto/+0mV the VTT Voltage applied is 1.208V ( BIOS HW Monitoring Page indicated 1.24V ).

Copy that i got 1.207 on my mulimeter and 1.233 in hw monitor OS

I just went from 49 to this one and needed more Vtt just to POST. The flash went fine, but when I tried to load my previous overclock, it wouldn't POST until I increased from +175 to +200. I don't see any difference otherwise, so I may go back to 49.

Respectively, the difference is hardly worth mentioning. You could very well have been on the edge teetering if you will and now need that extra bit of VTT. Aside from that minor bump in VTT, were you stable in every other respect?

Do you mean you tried loading a profile you saved while running 49? If so then you should never use profiles from previous bios.

I have X58 Classified 141-BL-E760-A1 & have had the same issue since I built the machine no matter what clock setting I have (including everything stock). At present I have the CPU 24/7 stable at 4.4Ghz & 6GB of G.Skill Trident 2000Mhz memory but the issue is no matter wat setting i set in Bios my memory is locked at 838Mhz. I am not sure what Bios I am currently running but I haven't done a Bios update so whatever it came with is what I still have (Where do I look for Bios version, I looked at the Bios at boot up but it makes no mention). Will this new Bios revision help out my situation?

THIS is why you always see 50 people in every new bios thread saying "This bios is crap, now me previous overclock that passed 9 billion hours of linx is unstable"

Like Shock said, never load a profile from a previous bios, re-enter your settings and save a new one.

Well, the reason I mentioned it is because my rig was rock solid at my previous settings with 49, and now with this new BIOS, (using the same settings) it wouldn't POST until I added a bump in Vtt, which is now stable after running an hour each of OCCT and LinX. Very odd that just that tiny bit of Vtt went from no being able to POST at all, to being fully stable.

ShockTheMonky

Do you mean you tried loading a profile you saved while running 49? If so then you should never use profiles from previous bios.

No, I deleted the saved profiles and re-entered my previous settings. Sorry for being unclear about that.

You must have misunderstood me, or I guess I used the term "load" wrong. I always clear the cmos prior to and after a BIOS flash, and do the flash using default settings. I guess I should have said "re-enter" and not "load" because I didn't try to load the previous saved profile, but instead re-entered all of my previously used settings, which didn't work.

To be stable at the same overclock as before, I needed to increase Vtt from +175 to +200.

It didn't really affect temps or anything, so I'm just staying at this new BIOS, but it did require more Vtt, so the only thing I got out of the BIOS update was more required voltage.

What do you mean on boot up?  In Windows?

If you can't see all 6 physical / 12 logical, try unplugging the computer, clearing CMOS, removing the battery for thirty minutes, replacing the battery then starting it back up.

I updated with this bios. Question? I'm running the Intel 980x why do I only see 4-cores post on bootup? Shouldn't I be seeing all 6-cores on bootup or only 4-cores?

Take a look at msconfig and check to see if # of cores at boot got set. The check box should be empty.

Xeon Westmere (6 core) support yet?? Know loads of peeps who have gone to Gigabtyte and Asus for this...please flex and add support - there is ZERO reason not to...just make it unofficial and not supported by tech.

This is an ethusiast's board ffs...I expect this kind of nonsense from the competition, not EVGA. All that's being accomplished is pissing your loyal enthusiast customer base off...

You will not gain marketshare on the SR-2 by holding back on 7xx Xeon support...

Hi,
I installed the BIOS 64, and now windows refuse to boot, It stops at the "startup windows" screen. It've got the same problem with a boot by DVD-ROOM.
I'm open to any suggestions XD
