Here is my dilemma, I bought the 759 board for a one reason, to run tri-sli 16x on all three lanes. So my only option with the available boards is to buy the 4way board. But I already have my 759 mb for about 1.5 years and have a waterblock on it. Not only do I have to buy a new mb but also modify my case to fit the 4-way and reload windows which I really hate doing. There has to be a better solution.

You won't Have to reload windows, not if you are running 7, You already have the dual NF200's, all you have to do is plug everything in, and let 7 move drivers around.

This is starting to sound more and more like an ASUS fan-boi thread...

Not really most know me and know I have had EVGA only gpus/mobos  for my 3-4  years on these forums. Its all that I have used I have 19 registered EVGA products alone.  Own almost 30 products since not all of them I purchased brand new... All evga... I still own i think about 4-6 amd/ati products.

Think out of the box, if something is better go for it. The only person your hurting is yourself. It will also force a company to make a better product to get your buying dollars again.

From EVGA tech support, " This is not a case of eventuality but it is a possibility. It has been found to happen in some circumstances but no common thread has been found. We are working with other manufacturers to figure it out. Please know we will work with you if this problem does arise" (I might have paraphrased some, but that's the gist of it. So I guess I gave been lucky sp far and will have to pay more attention to the 14 pin connector, since Evga won't let me step up to 4way sli. Btw I'm not saying they should but it would be nice!

Emach

No need for you to reload windows at all=) even going from an nf200 board to a none nf200 board no need to switch, just a good idea is uninstalling drivers before so change out the boards, have your new mobo cd or drivers on hand and go at it, a simple restart or two after installing drivers and your done=)

I would be interested to know if this has happened with only 400 series cards or if it has happened with ATI cards for example.  Also does this happen with all sorts of PSUs or just some brands?  I noticed the ones listed are multi-rail supplies.  I will be watching this......

Specs:
HAF-X | ASUS SABERTOOTH Z77 | i7 3770K @ 4.2 |  Corsair H100
Corsair AX1200 | 4x8gigs G.Skill Trident-X 2400 | 2 x ASUS DCUII GTX 670 | Intel 320 600gig | 3 x 27 inch monitors 2D Surround | HT Omega eClaro | Onkyo 7.1 receiver with Polk Monitor Series x 7 & 12in Sub | Denon AH-D5000s

Yes it is, there is links here that point to other brands as well on both MB and GFX than EVGA and nvidia.
Since it is a designflaw on most X58 to not have added the molex from the beginning that with current gen card has come to light any mb that dont have the molex and 2 or more GFX that suck power can burn or damage the 24-pin cable and kill/disable mb from keeping stable even at stock settings.

I suppose it could happen with enough ATI cards.  The amount of +12v rails have nothing to do with this.  The problem is the PCI-E slots needing to draw more power than the 24-pin motherboard connector can handle.

It does happen with select ati cards shamino went into it awhile ago on an old post some 58XX series cards will also cause the 24pin to burn/kill mobos, psu's and other hardware.

Apparently any of the x58 boards from any manafacturer prior to the 4 pin molex being added is subject to the issue. There really shoulda been a warning on the newer higher end GPU's since every manafacturer will play dumb and use the "Well our board has been out alot longer than xxx GPU" game. Either that or the motherboard makers should have put it out there that it was an issue. I can assure you people wouldn't have went tossing high end GPU's in there boards if they knew it was going to create problems. There again, welcome to corporate where all they see is the $ sign

I am due to put another 480 into my rig next week.. I think I am going to do the molex mod to ENSURE this does not happen to me. I really cba wrecking my psu especially since it took ages to uni sleeve it :(... From the impression i get, as long as you remove the wires before RMA then evga dont mind the molex mod. A lot of people are bigging ASUS up but tbh EVGA has the best cust service bar none in my opinion and its not like ASUS is without their issues.

Which is kinda why I wish a solution would be presented to the issue especially for those people who just bought these boards brand new a month ago. It would appear I am about to pass out from holding my breath, though.

Well maybe in the USA? ASUS European service seems to be dog to be brutally honest. I have heard many tales from UK forums detailing appauling service from ASUS..

Regarding the issue with this problem. I think EVGA is currently employing the attitude of "when it goes wrong we will fix it for you".. It would'nt be economically viable for them to just recall and upgrade all of the x58 classifieds when most are running problem free. I have no need for usb/sata 3 at the moment so I am more interested in making my E760 immune to this issue than aiming for an upgrade :)

I understand what you are saying, James. However, since it would seem the 760 is EOL I think it would be awesome to allow step up for people who are still in the step up phase for a 760 they bought very recently. I'd likely be happy with that considering how I just purchased mine. If this issue hadn't come to light I would have been just fine w/ my 760 and not being able to step it up, but that's just not the case.

I do understand it's not financially possible to replace every 759/760 out there from a company's stance. I'm just brainstorming for an idea to make all of these loyal EVGA'ers remain just that, loyal..

Im in exactly the same boat. My step up window only ended 2 days ago so ive only had the board about 100 days ish.. If I had known about the issue I am not ashamed to say that I may well have gone with the R3E despite my dislike of ASUS. Now my only option is to do the molex mod and live with the otherwise brilliant board :)

my previous two e759s caught on fire while running  3x 260s.  so, in addition to the 24pin meltdown, there is another fire risk to worry about.  and that is the mosfets.  to state again, two or three of those black, square componets near the cpu burst into a jet of flames!  and no, it wasn't due to overtightening the screws on the backside.   I never removed or messed w/ the stock cooler w/ which it came.
back then I had an antec 1000w psu.  now I am runing the silverstone 1500w 220v capable psu.  so far no flames......

ive got a nice water block on the whole board so unless the board could make more heat than my block could dissipate i doubt my mosfets will be in any trouble.. u may of had a faulty board for that to just randomly happen?

I just got my Rampage Formula yesterday and already trying for 4GHz. Running LinX now. I like the layout and all of the small improvements they made over their previous X58 boards like dual BIOS, eight 4-pin fan headers, Intel LAN, and extra molex power connector.

I didn't have any trouble with RMA of an Asus P6T. They even cross shipped with a credit card. I have no doubt that EVGA'a support is better and Asus boards definitely have their share of problems. My first P6T wouldn't shut down so I RMA'd. The one I have now loses the BIOS settings if I remove all power by turning off or unplugging the PSU. It also randomly won't cold boot and have to reset to load. My P6X58 Premium has the disappearing RAM problem which is also common to many X58 boards. There are definitely some design flaws with the X58 series. Hopefully they get them sorted out for X68. With 2011 pins, quad channel memory, and even more power hungry components, I wonder how reliable those systems will be.

I'm really curious how the new board will be behaving once it arrives.  I settled on the Classified 3 instead of the 4-way Classified as a replacement for my E759 because of compatibility reasons with my system (specifically the motherboard water block).  The EK FC block designed for the E759 will not fit the 4-way Classified because of the extra NF200 chip and different PCI-E slot layout and I spent enough money already on RMAs related to this problem to go out an buy a new WB for the mobo.

Hoping the new board will be here in time for the weekend though I am not looking forward to taking down all of my water cooling

Yeah i noticed that with this bios today playing with it more, but before I was only able to get 4ghz on my 980x with this board I have done 4ghz, 4.2ghz and 4.5ghz. I would have to say the dissapearing ram thing EVGA has that taken care of better, but for overclocking I am liking this board alot more, I do love all the bios options, but things are so simplified its a little bit of a pain at first. Also from going from EVGA eleet to CPUZ I am not used to the SPD tab. But setup is a easy and fast just a pain, like the fans to run them at 100% you disable everthing for them, to get turbo on you need to overclock to get it on then go back to auto/stock The monitoring/tweaking software that comes with it do not care for it evga's is actually better.

Just depends on what you want, Classified for better tools as in software, a more organized bios, limited lifetime,  like things are not over simplified to the point of making them complex to a degree.

If you want some crazy overclocks at a cheaper price, dont mind figuring out a new board that will give you a higher overclock"it did for me anyways" than a classified board go with the ASUS Rampage III.

Both vendors I can say have their quirks with the bios at this point after using both, both have cons, both have pros more than what I put down on day one on my post 5 post.
You will prob get a higher overclock on the asus rampage than with the classified a classified overclock takes alot of work but you have the feel of alot more control, where the asus board not so much like say you want to put your ram at 1.65v exactly it will be 1.654XX. Or your a nut you want your ram and cpu to run at stock not under, the classified or evga boards will run your qpi at 132.7 where the asus board will run it at 133.5 so your cpu at that stock clock of 3.33ghz will be 3.33ghz and your ram will not be running just under 1600 it will be just over, then with the classified it will be 3.32ghz and your ram will just be under 1600 because of the 132.7 qpi Things like this both have thier pros/cons.

I am still torn on what to do with the X58 Classified 3 on the keep it or sell it ... I do like EVGA products after all... but this Asus board is able to do some crazy overclocking=/

I have it right next to me no putting it in my case unless I can get a special molex adapter I only have enough space under my mobo to put say a usb case wire anything bigger will not fit so I cannot use the classy 3 atm unless I get some special molex adapter made i think like the ones on the corsair hx ax series you know the shorter ones =/

go read the post they knew in its development that ati 3xxx cards would fry the board and cause it to catch fire...
