My main question is this: would the X1 software play well with controlling a non EVGA card? I do distributed computing and have been using a 2080ti XC ultra and the X1 software to control it. I decided to add my old Gigabyte 1060 gaming OC card and noticed it comes up in X1 as VGA2. I'm currently using Gigabyte's software to control that card. When each window is side-by-side the numbers match and when I make a change in Gigabyte's software to the 1060 the change reflects in X1. I'm not sure about making a change to a card with software from a different company.

I'm sure it will, but some functions/readings may not be available..I guess you can just try it and find out.

Then there's MSI Afterburner that should work good.

On a side note, I use Precision X1 (and also XOC and Afterburner) with my vintage EVGA GTX 760 and it works perfectly fine except for a few functions that are specific to 10-series and higher and iCX cards.

It should work .. but test it

make small adjustments .. +MHz & custom fan curve ... watch your Temps ... report back your results how it worked for you

My 3 - Nvidia Titan X pascals are controlled just fine with XOC - they are under water ... no fans

Just wanted to point something out I just discovered.
When Precision X1 is set in the default settings...while folding...
The gpu in the 2nd position (furthest away from cpu) was operating in the 62c degree range while the Gpu in the 1st position was operating in the 70c+ range and I had to run gpu #1 in an aggressive custom fan profile to have it operate in the 62c degree range.
I mistakenly thought it was because it was getting radiant heat from the cpu...wrong.
It is drawing heated air from the back of the number 2 cpu. I put both gpus on an aggressive fan profile in Precision and the #1 is 63c ish and the #2 is 54c ish and both are maintaining lower temperatures easier....
It might be my imagination but the cooler gpu's seem to be folding more PPD...
I will be assembling a mixed gpu, amd based 24/7 folding machine in a week or so and I will let you know how Precision X1 does.
Rog Strix 2060 & Evga 2060 XU Ultra Gaming..
    Update
The X1 seemed unstable compared to the MSI afterburner.
It Closed a couple of times when I adjusted the fan profile on the ROG card.
I returned the AMD based chip and motherboard and have a Intel i7 9700k on a WS Z390 Pro.
The gpu's are running on windows drivers (both work great)
The Intel chip has issues with it's windows graphics driver and it says it hasn't enough resources...Works well enough for me after windows update.
The i7 wasn't the right version of 9700k on the QVL...
