EVGA has shown off a prototype of a Super G7 1000 which is one of the most compact PSUs at only 125mm. Launch time estimate should be around September. I think this would be perfect for small compact gaming rigs. 
 

 
I have their 1600w. That 1000w should be good for most users.

Good question. Those who stopped by EVGA's Computex booth were quoting a September launch date. In Hexus' video interview of Jacob himself, however, he more vaguely states "this will be shipping later this year." Therefore I'm not sure how official September was, but I sure hope to see the power supply materialise soon. When it does, I'd expect at least the 1000W platinum version to have a different moniker than "G7", since it contradicts the actual efficiency rating.
 
EDIT: "Sep. 2018" was the estimated time of delivery, printed right on the accompanying overlook sheet at their booth. Don't know how I missed that.
 

I'm surprised its not a Platinum or Titanium PLUS rated PSU.

This is great, special for people like me who are fans of smalle cases compatible with E-ATX Form factor and at least 2x 360mm radiators. Look example Lian Li PC-O8... I would be in big problem with 1200 P2 if I want to install radiator on back side.
There is a lot similar situation and will be more in future.
Smaller cases become very popular, but people still can't find mATX board with VRM as ATX/EATX, or Mini ITX with space for dedicate sound card and thunderbolt and other adapters... Because they want small case ATX compatible.
 

 
If specifications are similar I would think to replace fan on my next PSU with Noctua NF-A12x25 PWM.
Depend how he react on ingreased temperatures and PSU controller.
 
It would be nice if EVGA sell ribbon cables with him but left sleeve set compatible.
Because some people in smalle cases simply need ribbon cables. Much eaiser bend and fit on small places.
Normal cables are like you increase size of PSU for 2cm. Ribbon cables need only 4cm more space then PSU.
And set must include ribbon 24pin. EVGA should think what to do.
To offer short cable set default or short cable set as extra and give discount to owners of that model.
 

But they ignored the most important question - is EVGA going to get smart and move back to a high-quality long-lasting ball bearing fan on this model, or are they going to keep pushing that fancy-name sleeve bearing junk that does NOT last under high loads like on the G3 line?

Lo and behold! The project is not dead, as the PSU made an appearance at Computex 2019.
 

 

 
Unfortunately, EVGA thought it would be a good idea to change the fan grill from goes-with-anything black to a standout metallic blue. Either way, I'm stoked to see EVGA bring 1000W of quality power to a compact 150 mm x 86 mm x 125 mm format.

One of my biggest complaints is size of the power supply.  Nice to see this.
