.... to explain.

EVGA makes AIO and water cooled GPUs, so they won't have the air stiffling problems. However most use air.

Your theory does make sense, as majority of users are incompetent and think they can slam 2 GPUs next to each other and just mine/play all day.

Due to the majority of users abusing their GPUs in this configuration and causing RMA, the minority who build proper MATX PCeLs are being punished by lack of 2 slot nvlink.

Yeah I totally agree on that, but how many of us have actually pushed our GPUs in a matx board in sli to their breaking point. I know for a fact that EVGA is making a hybrid 2 slot blower and I have actually saved up to build a new desktop with sli, alas Nvidia upset my plans with pricing and now no more matx support. I’m just going to skip building this gen and wait for the next release.

Mine was doing the same thing! Look at my profile pic. I think it's just buggy PX1 software? Sometimes it changes and pulses correctly, sometimes it stays stuck on green. Not sure what is going on.

If you have Asus motherboard remove lightning program and also try to disable any other program for leds then try px1. This worked for me.

I suspect the 2-slot spacing bridges are reserved for Tesla and Quadro models only. The NVLink bridge for Quadro GV100 and Tesla V100 volta cards is the same and does work on RTX2080ti and Titan RTX (although the notch is opposite) and Nvidia gets $599 each for those. Nothing special inside them either. It's just for the pro graphics and HPC/Datacenter market.

The lack of *any* 2-slot RTX NVLink bridges hints that they're probably prohibited by NVidia for partners to make.

Re: EVGA RTX NVLink Bridges 2020/08/27 06:39:00 (permalink)
The problem here, is that I need a 2 slot NVlink. The 4 slot covers over 2 slots, one of which I need for another device, which is too high for the NV link to crossover and my 7th slot is occupied by an Adaptec 24 port RAID controller. So, I need to place RTX cards in Slots 1 and 3. This will allow me to maintain slot 7 for the RAID controller and my NVME 16X card can go in slot 5. With a total of 6 2TB M.2 drives and an intel VROC, I can have a RAID 5, 10TB  volume for apps, with a data of approximately 160GB per second. Load times are reduced to almost instant.

I know someone is going to say this is impossible. If they do, it is because they do not know which motherboards allow for this kind of configuration. I use an ASUS Pro WS X299 SAGE II for a motherboard. 256GB RAM and 4 slots operating at 16X and a 48 PCIe lane CPU, specifically, the Core i-9 10980XE. Currently, until I can find the NVlink I need, I am stuck with a pair of the previous generation of Titan video cards, which are also EVGA Hydro Copper. I would like to EVGA produce a Titan RTX Hydro Copper, but given the prioce of those cards, I expect it won't happen. Because of space constraints, I need to us video cards that are only a 2 slot width, not 2.75 / 3 slot width, so I have hew choices. There is an air cooled RTX which is 2 slot width, but it's relatively slow in comparison, to prevent excess heat buildup. The only other choice is a 2 slot backplate and liquid cooled, which I prefer.

I have found liquid cooling, with good radiators, can dissipate a lot more heat, allowing the cards to run faster and stay faster, while also staying cool. My current build Idles at 31C and goes full boat at 42C! For video cards, that Is quite cool! I expect the RTX to be a little hotter, but I need to find a 2 slot NVlink. I don't understand why this is so hard for companies to produce. How about a link that is flexible to allow a 2 to 4 slot config. Well, perhaps flexible in't the correct word. Say instead, variable. Make the link a 2 or 3 part device. 2 sockets that plug into the cards, which will by themselves, be a 2 slot NVlink and then 2 different link extensions, that allow it to become a 3 or 4 slot NVlink. The extension would fit between the 2 ends that plug into the video cards. It would have to be designed to snap and lock together, with a press to release type of mechanism. That wouldn't be so hard to design and it would allow a single NVlink purchase, to be flexible in its application, should the consumer decide to change the card placement at a future date.

Of course, none of this matter to people who only use a single card or use the 3 slot width cards. Personally,I refuse to hobble the second card in an 8X PCIe slot. I always use Asus workstation boards, becausethey allow up to four 16X slots, or you can use more than 4 sluts and slot 1 remains 16X, while sluts 2 through 7 become 8X. I need at least 3 slots running at 16X. 2 for video and the Hyper M.2 card. I just realized, I design an insanely expensive system that operates at performance levels that are equally insane. LOL. I would really like to see an EVGA Titan RTX Hydro Copper. I guess that's what dreams are for.

Yeah looking at the slots layout it says use 1 and 3 or 1 and 5 slots for 2 cards so the only way your gonna get 1 and 5 is an sli bridge not nvlink. I was thinking I seen some where that the 2 slot rtx Quadro nvlink would work on the rtx series but don't know for sure. Did the board come with any bridges at all? I suppose using amd cards would allow more versatility since a bridge isn't used for crossfire, it links via the PCIe slot.

The Nvidia RTX Link for Quadro 6000 is available in 2-slot (aka, side by side) format.

Quadro RTX NVLink HB Bridge 2-Slot, part number 900-54931-2500-000. (Nvidia part number).

It's green and has no RGB ligthing, but it works fine.  I have two EVGA blower cards connected with them at the moment, although I had to remove the backplate from one of them. I'd recommend a different vendor blower card though if you want to stack them side by side.  (see my thread on that in this forum).

The EVGA blower 2080-ti is excellent as a single card though and works very well in 3-slot or 4-slot spacing. But in 2-slot, side-by-side stacking (as most workstation boards are built) the fan inlet touches the backplate of the other, leaving insufficient ventilation.
