The boards seem different from one another, a lot of hole placements are in different locations. Even the 3070 GPU die is rotated 90 degrees. The 3070 generates less power, there's really no reason to Hybrid it anyways.

Thanks for the quick reply. I guess I'll make do with the fans. Upgrading from 980ti hybrids and fell in love with running at 40-50°, but can't get my hands on a 3080 for less than 1100 bucks right now.

Nice! I want to get this one too but don't know if the tubes would reach the front of my case

400mm long, so take a rope and start measuring.

Installed mine on a 3090 FTW3 Ultra. Cut my thumb on the heatsink fins while removing it. Aside from that, was a pretty painless experience except for one of the fan cables. The little plastic piece that clips it in broke off from gently pressing on it.

Another thing is that I was not able to use the hybrid firmware. It just says I don't have a compatible card. Everything seems to run fine on the 500w FTW3 Ultra firmware.

I keep fans at 70% and it runs at 55 load with 26 ambient. Idles at 27. Stable overclock went from 750/110 to 750/120. I tested this GPU clock with memory at 0. Not sure what the point of getting the cooler was, but maybe in the summer it would have become unstable without it.

Is the "Auto" button off on precision X1? Can you set a custom fan curve ? And lastly what are your temperatures at.

Play a game with GPU-Z sensors running and take a screenshot.

I cut my thumb, too!  It was more like 8 perfectly parallel cuts... pretty gnarly.  That took way more force than I was comfortable with.  I posted this in another thread, but here are the BIOS steps I followed to convert:
  1. Download the appropriate .zip that Jacob linked in this post
  2. shut down, make sure switch is in Normal position, boot
  3. flash the Normal bios from the zip, make sure to run as admin / elevated prompt
  4. shut down, flip switch to OC position, boot back up
  5. flash the OC bios from the zip as admin
  6. shut down, start up and boot (switch still in OC position)
  7. optionally, flash the HYBRID XOC bios from the sticky thread as admin
  8. shutdown, boot back up
It now displays 'GeForce RTX 3090 FTW ULTRA HYBRID' and only 2 fans in PX1, like it would with a "real" hybrid.

I have a very similar case and fan setup the one KingEngineRevUp diagrammed in the first post (only I don't have the two push MLs on the GPU rad yet, and I have a 280mm CPU rad up top).  I've noticed that once my PC has had a chance to idle for some time and both rads become more soaked, the idle temps go up by a good amount.  My CPU AIO's coolant's idle temp was in the 32C range before, and now with the GPU rad pulling hot air and dumping it into the case [to then be exhausted through the CPU AIO rad], the CPU coolant temp is now 36C.  Idle gpu temp on my Hybrid AIO starts around 25, then gradually heats to 37 at idle after some time.

With a case as big as the O11 XL, and so many fans available, would it be crazy to have both AIOs exhaust and the other 5 120's (in my case) intake to balance it out?  So intake from the bottom 3 / back 1,  exhaust through the top CPU Rad and side GPU Rad.  I suppose the top 120 above the side GPU rad would be exhaust to keep air flowing in the same general direction - in the bottom and rear, out the side and top.

KingEngineRevUp, since your setup is so similar, have you noticed anything like this?

Thanks OP, this is super helpful! I just received my kit also, but waiting until I get a new CPU (damn you, Ryzen 9's!) so I can do both installs at once.

The reason this helped me so much is because I have the exact same case and currently have a Arctic Cooling Liquid Freezer II 360 on the top of the case, and I was having troubles figuring out where the FTW3 hybrid cooler would go. I knew it would physically fit on the front vertical fans area, but I figured I'd need to setup the hybrid cooler as a pull fan configuration, since the (3) fans currently there are set up as intake fans. But now that I see your setup, I know I have enough space to setup a push/pull configuration. I wont be using the stock fans either and instead go for (4) Arctic Cooling P12 fans, which I am a huge fan of. I'll probably throw the RGB EVGA fans into my kid's PC's.

I do have a question about the fans though. Do you have your Corsair fans plugged straight into the fan header on the video card? I'm assuming that header allows the fans to be automatically controlled based on card temps, or manually through Precision X1.

Or are you using iCue for that? Thank you!

Question about the Radiator fans.
Are they connected to the pump and then controlled using PX1?

I was wondering i can skip that and connect the fans to my Aquero 6 instead. Which I find has much better fan curve control and does not need a piece of software to be running all the time. Dunno if PX1 or the GPU will start freaking out if i did that.

My kit is coming on Monday so gotta try and see what is possible.

you can indeed use your own fans and control them however you want. I have two ML120s on mine and am using iCUE to control them. PX1 will just show 0RPMs for Fan 1 but will not behave differently otherwise 👍🏻

KingEngineRevUp, sorry to be posting so much in your thread and asking so many questions!  One last one then I’ll cool it =P
I just tried putting my ML120’s on the back of the rad in push orientation.  IMO it seems to be a few mm’s short of there being enough clearance between the dust screen/side of the case and the rear ML120’s.  Whenever I get up to a decent RPM on them, the sound of air being sucked through the screen which is right up against them is super loud.  It’s even too loud at high RPM without the dust screen installed.  It’s fine when the side of the case is removed, of course.  Have you run into that?  I'm thinking of doing the unthinkable... putting the pull ML120's AND the rad inside the main chamber, and the push ML120s behind it T_T

I have the same exact Computer Case and was planning to do the same set up with my 3090 Ultra but not vertical mounted, I hope the tube has enough clearance from the glass panel.

Does anyone know if you should uninstall AB or Precision X first before plugging in the hybrid when you finish assembly? I am running my 3080 FTW3 ultra atm with only AB and it works great. But should i disable the AB overclock or the software after I reuibld it with the hybrid kit?

Can't wait to get one once they are available in Europe.
Do you think they are worth it ? Right now I'm undervolting my FTW3 to get better thermals and noise - even though I think this card is supposed to be good at OCing lol

Installation seems kind of scary too

I also undervolted my FTW3 and I am also afraid of trying to install, I had the kit since yesterday but haven't really got the courage to start it haha. Best of Luck to you if you decide to get the kit.

I did last night and I am going to be honest, it was arguably the most stressful hour of my life. Plus my temps are about 20 degrees to high so I get to take it apart and try and redo it tonight.

More experience to build up that confidence haha, that how it was for me when I had to repaste my 1080ti card messed up the first few times then got comfortable just opening the card.

Thanks for this - didn't know there was a BIOS flash... step 1 worked for me just fine.

Step 7 - did not work for me, when I try to flash it says I don't have a compatible GPU.  anyone able to get the XOC to work?

You have to flash the Normal OC Hybrid Bios before you can flash the XOC.

Here is the BIOS updates to turn the card into a HYBRID. Each .zip includes 2 files. One for Normal BIOS and one for OC BIOS. Only install this update if the HYBRID kit is installed.

Got them to install, thanks... something was strange with the site, kept getting site at max capacity while trying to download, and when it finally did, it gave me the wrong bios for part # 3985, not 3988...

I am not liking any of these new HYBRID Bios's I am going to try and go back to the original Air cooled bios. These fire the fans up way way too much.  min is 44% @ 1200 RPM, can't go below that... The air cooled let the fans idle at 650rpm and I think let the RAD fans (fan 2) go to off.

Went from a dead silent case to now a very loud case.

Back with another question - I just received my Hybrid Kit and the VRM cooling seems pretty minimal compared to the previous Gen (2080/2080Ti Hybrid). I remember seeing a pretty massive heatsink my friends 2080Hybrid for the VRM's. But on the 3080 ftw3 Kit there are very minimal fin stacks.

Anyone check on the VRM temps yet?

The two areas with thermal pads on them that correspond to the VRM have fairly dense fin stacks on them. They’re just hard to see because they’re painted black. The only difference between this kit and the Kingpin 2080 Ti is a small copper plate that goes over that area.

My VRM temps are good. Haven’t checked under load yet but after playing a game for a while they cool right down to around 40-45 C or so.

I'm not sure if this was the case with the 2080 series, but on the 3080 the RAM/VRM plate makes direct contact with the water block using thermal paste. So maybe that's how they get away with a smaller heatsink?

Folks with a CPU AIO already, where are you putting this radiator and as intake or exhaust? I'm worried about putting mine in spot that currently has case fans and not getting enough fresh air to the other AIO after.

The 3070 generates less power, there's really no reason to Hybrid it anyways.

A quiet build is an epic reason to Hybrid any card.

I've taken everything apart and put it back together about 5 times so far.  I have an O11 XL, an h115i Platinum (280mm rad), and now the hybrid kit.  Using ML120 2400's on my Hybrid rad and the ML140's on the h115i.  Here's what I tried and didn't like each time.
  1. Current: Hybrid AIO on the side (Intake / Pull), 115i up top (Exhaust / Push): GPU temps are great, CPU AIO / other temps... not so much.  All of the warm air being dumped inside the case from the GPU AIO makes my CPU AIO's coolant temp about 5-6C warmer than before, which is a lot.  Case fans respond accordingly, making overall noise go through the roof.  I don't want to tune them down because I want them to ramp when the CPU AIO coolant temp is high.
  2. Hybrid AIO on the side (Exhaust / Push), 115i up top (Exhaust / Push): GPU temps under load were 10C higher, and the highest I've seen with the hybrid installed.  I thought exhausting the GPU AIO air out of the side would keep it out of the case and fix the CPU AIO coolant temp issue, but that was not the case.  CPU AIO Coolant temps were back to normal, which was good, but GPU temps weren't very good.  Might have been a negative pressure / starvation / other intake tuning issue, but this orientation had a ton of exhaust fans when both AIOs were exhausting.
  3. Hybrid AIO on the side (Intake / Push), 115i up top (Exhaust / Push): The fans are too close to the side panel on the O11 XL and makes a very loud sucking noise at mid to high RPMs.
  4. Back to #1 until my h150 arrives.  I will mount the h150i 360mm rad on the side, pulling cool air in, and exhaust the Hybrid AIO out the top.  Might do push/pull on the CPU AIO rad, not sure yet.
I'm convinced that exhausting the GPU AIO out the top and mounting the CPU AIO on the side pulling in cool air is the way to go to balance temps and noise.  My 280 rad doesn't fit on the side of my O11 XL... so of course, I now have an h150i on order.  I really didn't want to replace the h115i... this became a very slippery slope!

I agree. I do not like the hybrid intaking into the case. I actually have my h150i sitting outside on top of my case vertically. It looks pretty bad, but the inside of my case is getting only fresh air
