Does this occur with older versions as well, or is this a bug limited to the newest version?

Same here. Every few hours, it stops using my profile settings and reverts to factory default settings. I have to close and relaunch Precision X1 in order to reactivate a profile. It's infuriating. My computer can be in rest mode or a fully active state and still, every few hours, that rainbow wave starts lighting up and I can see my fans stop following the profile speeds I set. Even attempting to reload a profile doesn't work. I have to fully close and relauch the software. This error has persisted across all updates of X1 . I've also tried a clean install to no avail.
 

Ran DDU in safe mode to uninstall drivers and then installed latest drivers (ideally unplugged from the interwebs)  Using any other software that might conflict? Maybe Corsair iCUE or something that can control RGB?
 
If it happens on a fresh/clean install of Windows I would be surprised.
 
 
 

You have fastboot enabled in your mobo BIOS it will cause this RGB issue on reboot because the gfx card doesn't get properly reset.

Did you post a video of this?  We will be able to see what's happening

Does anyone have this issue with cards older than the current 3xxx GPUs? No issues of the sort here on a 2080TI FTW3 Ultra.

Happens to me as well. I noticed it's typically followed by a driver crash in the Event Viewer as "Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered." Curious as to what your Event Viewer (under system) looks like. Do you happen to see any of these logs?

What LED profiles are you guys using?

Static OFF or Rainbow. I've had no issues with either on the 2080Ti.

I'm also attempting to use Temperature. I've also noticed that once it resets the the Rainbow RGB the 3rd fan will refuse to go above 45%.

I'm wondering if this is the key then. I've still yet to have the error occur using static RGB settings. Did you want to try not using Temperature too? It's a small sample size but maybe between us we can fix what EBGA are choosing to ignore!

Can confirm, setting it to static lighting I do not see it reset.

This has been happening to me since I got my card in February.

This has been happening to me. It's a bummer because the temperature setting displayed on the EVGA LEDs is useful for at-a-glance temperature monitoring if I'm gaming or something. Happens in most any game I play.
 
I didn't check my event viewer but I will later on. Precision X1 so far seems to be kind of a piece of trash. Coming from MSI cards, I didn't realize I was living the life of luxury using Afterburner.
 
Edit: I'm using a 3080 FTW3 Ultra Gaming card by the way. I imagine they use the same LED controller/firmware/integration across at least the 3080/3090 series (I've read a few other comments/posts citing this same problem) so I'm going to assume this is maybe more widespread than we know.

Yeah. I'm sure I'm putting the cart before the horse here, but I did get a Precision X1 update to version 1.26 last night. I played games for a few hours and have left cookie clicker on for about 12 hours and the Temperature display on the "EVGA" lettering hasn't changed back or done anything funky. I'll test more and update if it doesn't fix it.

Update: It took about 12 hours but eventually my GPU's "EVGA" lettering swapped itself back from temperature monitoring to the rainbow LED. What a supreme disappointment.
 
I sent a message to customer support two days ago but haven't gotten even an acknowledgement. I'm not going to put in an RMA ticket or something because from what I gather, this isn't a card-specific problem - it's EVGA's terrible, terrible software. I'll continue testing and updating if I see anything, but I think one trigger for the software could be prolonged GPU stress? I can't think of what would actually cause the Precision X1 software to "rot" over time, unless there is a memory leak or the RGB LED's they used aboard the video card itself are stubborn and hard to deal with. Whatever the case, it's a complete waste of RGB LED's and software if customization just flips back to default at random.
 
I recommend everyone submit a ticket or customer service feedback to get this problem escalated.

Would be interested in what they say. It has been happening for the past 2-3 versions of X1 that I have had. I also uninstalled, reinstalled, rolled back Nvidia drivers using DDU, its the X1 software. Its also very weird that while X1 is running there is also X1 server that needs to run in the task bar.
