Hi,
I noticed a louder coil whine for some time now and I wasn't really sure it came from the GPU.
At first I noticed it when transfering large data from one disk to another, I thought it might be SSDs but no. I swapped PSU and the issues seemed resolved but still happens sometimes.
Today I launched a game without headset and noticed a coil whine which seems to come from GPU.
Can a gpu coil whine occur when data is transfered or is it just when gaming or using graphics?
Does EVGa do RMA for coil whine? thanks

No, it shouldn't. SSD coil whine is very common. It's usually more of a hiss sound instead of a buzzing sound. Does EVGa do RMA for coil whine?
Yes, but there is no guarantee that the new GPU won't whine just as much or more.

it's a weird squeaking noise actually also while gaming I have a noise that doesn't really sound like coil whine : What can it be? https://www.youtube.com/w...skmHkiR_TFkuC_p-kq1hL8i did not noticed it before which is weird. I have my fps caped to 143 fps but the noise is audible above 40 fps (tried tu limit it with RTSS)

Is that with load on the GPU? If so, that sounds like GPU coil whine to me.

Yes it is, on idle no noise. below 40fps, no noise either,
When i moved the sliders in Precision the noise was jumping so yes I'm pretty sure its coil whine right?

That's correct. For most of us, under 120 FPS it mostly goes away but above it sings like a bird. I usually advise folks to just cap their FPS or what have you to your liking of game play and audibles.

Well why do I have this coil whine even at low fps then? Is there an issue?

You might have a worse case scenario coil whine that whines at almost anything. If it's really bad, it's your call if you want to RMA it because of it. Get a hold of EVGA CS and go from there.

the noise could be coming from god knows where fans usually make the most racket my psu has a zero fan but i override it and have it on to keep it cooler my video card seems to be quiet as EVGA fans are good quality

Today i've switched with another GPU and exactly same issue. The GPU I have for now for testing (Asus strix 2080ti) had no coil one in the rig it was into and mine doesn't coil whine in his. What could it be ? I have a seasonic ultra prime titanium I use cable mod cables Motherboard is maximus hero XI I tried to : Turn On / off Vsync Put back original cables reset bios settings. Nothing worked. I asked for a replacement of the PSU but could it be something else? I will get the same one and hope it will be fine.. For an high end expensive titanium one that sucks... here's a video of the issue : https://www.youtube.com/w...s&feature=emb_logo Thanks

Thing is that every videocard have coil whine. But frequency is depend on PSU and its 12v rail (exact voltage range), it is not about how bad you PSU is - but how lucky or unlucky you. Replacing PSU could help - and also could not. Same for replacing videocard. https://www.howtogeek.com/297166/what-is-coil-whine-and-can-i-get-rid-of-it-on-my-pc/ I had rog strix with very bad coil whine - it was grinding like bad fan with dead bearing. I changed it for another strix - coil whine "sound level" was kind of same, but instead of grinding - it was hissing with high frequency component, and that sound could be masked with fans and damped by case. Later I switched to ftw3 - and was lucky again.

Bad fans can be problematic. I replace my fans when they become tired and new fans have been good so far. How old is my PSU, it still rock solid. My chassis does a good job at keep fan noise to a minimum. The fan control on the motherboard works well.

Same issue with another PSU (same model) I had read that this kind of coil whine is not dangerous for the devices , whether it is the power supply or the graphics card, could you confirm it to me. What is weird is that the noise occurs at + 30FPS +, i've limited FPS to find out it does not occurs only at high fps as i was used to with coil whining GPU... I try to play with the sliders of MSI afterburner and I can hear that the sound changes . Is i change settings in game or lower resolution the sound will variate or be less loud. . After that I only hear it if the fans are at their lowest and the panel is open so if it is certain that it cannot harm my configuration, it is not very serious but I would like to be sure. However I would like to understand because the problem arises with: - 2 different graphics cards (EVGA FTW3 2080ti and Asus Strix 2080ti Oc that someone gave me for test purposes). The two cards do not make this noise in another config
- 2 power supplies of the same model (Seasonic Ultra Prime titanium 850w)
- 2 motherboards of the same model. Asus Maximus Hero XI
- Cstate on and off
- Mod cable cables or original cable
it's driving me crazy mostly because I don't understand WHY :D Seasonic sent me cable with ferrites, maybe that will help.. If not i'm considering taking another PSU but which one would you suggest? Thanks for your help

Too many variables. Impossible to predict.

Asryan Can ferrite beads help?
Who knows. There are way too many variables. If the noise is caused by an interaction between the PSU and the video card, yes, they may help. I'm sure that you will let us know.
