I may have experienced this issue too.  During install I got a message about couldn't open hook something or other, I clicked ignore and install finished.  Rebooted and seems to be working fine.

i7 4790k, ASUS Maximus Formula VII, 32GB 2400 G.Skill,  Samsung SSD, 3x HDD, 2x GTX 680FTW 4GB+ in SLI with EK full coverage blocks; all kept nice and cool on a custom loop while powered by an EVGA 1000w P2

Same here ,but i don't like messy instals on something that's going to control a 600+ GPU,It leaves a feeling of doubt .Finally did the entire uninstall, reboot, install and the process went as i would expect with no issue.

Point being EVGA should either make the install uninstall previous versions as part of the program when installing and ask for reboot (then install when you reboot without prompting)
,instead of freaking out the user with such install messages ,leaving them to wonder .It should be a neater process IMO.

Thank you. I am still unable to adjust the voltage on my GTX 580 Classified Ultra in PercisionX. I still have to use the separate EVGA Voltage Tuner. Is this Something that will be fixed?

Since the update.....I'm limited on how high I can overclock my GTX 580 Classified Ultra Edition.  Was able to go from 900Mhz-1030Mhz, but now can only go up to 1000Mhz. Is there any way you can fix this?

Had an error message whilst trying to install over the top of previous version. Took BioHazardSperm's advice and did a clean reinstall which went smoothly.

I have always just closed EVGA Precision and installed the new version. Why is there a problem now? I am having the same problem.
"Error opening file for writing: C:\Program Files (x86)\EVGA Precision X\Bundle\OSDServer\RTSSHooks.dll"
I just tried this so there is still a problem.

Try uninstalling the previous version. Then rebooting before installing the latest version. Worked for me.

    Re:EVGA Precision X 3.0.3 Posted 2012/07/01 23:27:18 (permalink)
Okay, so huge issue with BF3 and precision x. I started up the game,  after a few seconds the screen went black, and I heard my fan speed lower, and then my game crashed. Basically, my setting reset themselves and the game crashed. I rinse and repeat a few times and get the same results. I start bf3, the screen goes black, my gpu settings reset, and the game crashes.

I go back to precision 2.1.2, set my settings to the same as precision x, and guess what? No crashes, or black screens. I am sorry guys, but this new version is still very buggy. I really don't want to switch to after burner as I like the interface on precision better and there are more custom skins, but in the end stability and compatibility is very important.

I have a GTX 570 HD btw. I would also like to point out that precision x with laptop gpus such as the GT 550m is also laggy and buggy. Unfortunately, this has been an on going issue for sometime and it has yet to be fixed for precision users on laptops. So, as a desktop user and a laptop user I am currently disappointed with the new version of the software.

All precision does in relation to a game is monitor stats. It can in no real way cause a crash. You need to look elsewhere for what seems to be your individual  issue .
The entire polling method for monitoring used by precision and afterburner is the exact same code written by the same person to get the data to the on screen display.(if what your saying is true AB users would be saying the same thing, and they are not)

As of today your the first person Ive ever seen complain about a laptop GPU issue since precision was released back around 2008.

Hate to be blunt but its a issue on your end someplace IMO.

I hate to be blunt but you must not browse the forums a lot:

    http://forums.evga.com/tm.aspx?m=1510877

I have also posted the same exact link with regards to laptop gpus in the 3.0.2 update thread as well... So, yeah there are plenty complaining about laptop GPUs... And, you know what? The problems are only with precision x. After burner and the previous version (regular precision without the x) works fine with laptops. So, yes, there are differences in the two programs apparently.

Going back to the crashes, I already stated that I went to the previous version and it worked fine. Also, I use precision to oc and adjust voltage. It's not just a simple monitoring tool for me as you make it out to be...

Sorry to burst your bubble, but that's what happened. It worked right away when I switched back, which makes me believe there is a bug with applying certain settings. Yes, these programs are based off of Rivatuner and what not, but they do have their own set of problems. So, while I understand where you are coming from you shouldn't be so dismissive towards me and the issues I have experienced.

And if you could google you would ALSO see the Guy who codes it has clearly always said "Both Precision and Precision X documentation clearly declare in system requirements section that mobile GPUs are not supported. So if it works on some laptop - take it as a bonus. Otherwise, no compliants are accepted."in THAT SAME THREAD lol sorry but you failed hard ...
Blame no one but yourself for using it on unsupported mobile GPU's.
Still doesn't address the claim of your 570 issue in any way so keep digging ?

You said afterbuner was the same as precision, yet it works fine on laptops. That was my point. You also said you never heard of laptop complaints as well. I showed you a thread, then you insult me stating "you fail so hard" and EVGA doesn't care. So, why don't you just stop responding to me? You have insulted me and you are not helping at all. Thanks anyway.
