you're golden. everything looks great.

CAS9 of 9-9-9-27 is great, but don't worry if it won't let you go from 9-10-9-27. you will not notice the difference, but sure, if it will let you, why not.
and try 2 sticks first, if you pass LinX with that then stick the other 2 in. I think you'll be ok because you're not going over 4.5.

The 4Ghz club is about 3 million members strong. If you own a 2600k you're already a member!

if you are not running a ton of virtual machines or doing heavy encoding or massive batch processing with adobe you will probably never even see 8gb used up.

I wouldn't even bother trying to go to 9-9-9-27 from 9-9-9-27, the difference between those two is basically nothing and will keep the stress more off your IMC that you seem to be so worried about.  I'd say you are right where you need to be, quit stressing and start gaming!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyone else have crash issues while idling?  My P67 SLI rig is 100% stable on most bios versions @ 4.5 @ 1.3 vcore.  Max 24 h temps during the hottest days of summer are about 78 degrees on that setting.  With bios 119 and the new 121, I'm getting 0x00000124 BSODs but only when idling.  I can play high end games for hours and it's fine.  Leave the PC on, go down and watch a movie and I come back to BSOD with bios 119 and 121.

Any tips for fixing this?  Do I need more Vcore or should I just run bios 120 and leave it alone?

Yes!  I fought with this for weeks until I resolved the problem.  I was getting the exact same BSOD error code and found online that this code could usually be fixed by increasing VCore.  However, with my 4.4 overclock (on air) I was able to Prime95 stable for 24 hours at 1.26 VCore....but it would crash at idle all the time.

I tried adjusting VCore all the way until 3.5 and it still crashed at idle.  Then I messed with VCCIO/VRAM and no luck.  I even tried raising my RAM timings and lowering to 1600 (it's a 1866 kit).  Still crashing at idle or while doing simple tasks like watching videos on Youtube.

The fix?  Enable SpeedStep (EIST) and C1E/C3.  These were optional choices in this overclocking guide and don't hamper your overclock in any way.  So really, there's no need to turn them off.  I've been running fine for a few weeks now with my PC on 24/7.  OC'd at 4.4 with 1.26 VCore, stock VCCIO and VRAM (1.5), and the recommended timings/clock for my RAM (G.Skill 1866 @ 9-10-9-28).

EIST may not affect everyone's OC at idle, but disabling it seems to be a problem for mine.

Thank you, this is VERY helpful!  I'll give that a try. The overclock guide said to disable those settings so they have been disabled with all of my overclocks.  Definitely makes sense.

Unfortunately, I haven't gotten to do it yet as I had a busy weekend.   I flashed back to 120, which has never given me any problems, and I didn't get around to flashing to 121 again.  I'll try it out soon though.

I had this same exact issue running 4.8 @ 1.35 vcore a couple weeks ago after upgrading the bios to 1.19 and 1.20.  I ended up bumping my vcore to 1.375 and never had an issue since and has been running fine now for weeks without a hitch.

Thanks for the feedback!  I'll try that out when I update to a higher bios version.  I suspected Vcore but it sounds like it could be a variety of things.

so I did this
  • EIST set to Disable - This is Intel Speedstep Technology.
  • C1E Support set to Disable - This is a powersaving feature.
  • CPU C3 Report also set to Disable
  • DO NOT DISABLE TURBO MODE! This essentially allows your CPU to OC at all.
And now I get stuttering in BF3. I turned vdropp off also. I have been running 4.8 ghz with .1420 vcore. I have an i72600k with z68 SLI mobo. I turned off all these settings and no longer get stuttering in bf3. Not sure what setting causes the stuttering but just a heads up.

Those are always disabled for me, but if I leave hyperthreading on there is an obvious stutter. Its off for now.

Maybe I ask the wrong questions here in the forums but it usually takes a while for a reply if any, Here it goes, It has been a while since I have used Prime 95 and I really don't think I selected the right things when I did, but My rig is up and running and I stepped it up and I used INTEL Burn to verify settings when I got to 4.6 I had to go to 1.35 and that got me to 4.7 and 4.8 is asking for a bit more. My question is I want to save a profile for 4.5 with the lowest voltages possible and I want to use prime since it is a longer testing value, can someone tell me the correct setting in Prime 95. I will update my sig and mod rigs soon. I don't consider my build complete until I get my Chipset and Vreg water blocks from NATE-Mandoo.

Here is what I have : 2600k, Z68 FTW Water cooled CPU, and two water cooled GTX 580 in SLI and a GTX 550 TI water cooled as a PhysX card, ASUS Xonor Essence Sound Card, 2 OCZ 150 Solid 3's in Raid 0, 1 Vertex shredder 150 2, and 1 90, and WD 2 TB for Backups. I have a Danger Den Typhoon Pump reservoir for the CPU with two 360 RAD's and a Koolance RP-452X2 Pump reservoir for the Video cards and with a 360 Rad with 4 pumps 18 fans on the RADs and it is quite the set up. I will take pics when I get the rest of my water blocks and Finals are done.

If I could go all American I would!

There are three possible test options, small FFT's, large FFT's and blend. Small FFT's test mostly CPU, Large FFT's test mostly memory, and blend does both.  If you are going to make extended long runs, just choose the blend test.

I ditched Prime95 a long time ago in favor in LinX. I usually do LinX 20 pass test using the "all" memory option.  If I can get the 20 pass of LinX to run with no errors I have never had a subsequent blue screen or lockup afterwards, regardless of how I stress the system.  And the good thing is the 20 Pass test can be completed in an hour or less.

I guess I should now ask what setting I should use for LinX?

If I could go all American I would!

Just choose 20 as the passes to run and make sure the all button is presses next to the available memory box.

Lvcoyote,
I messed with Linx for quite a while.
4.5, 4.6 @ a comfortable Vcore 1.35, VICCO @ 1.12 for 20 passes, 4.7 and beyound starts to get a little tricky and I know I will have to play with the voltages a bit but I did one step up at a time using the Intel Burn but now I see why you like the LinX. It put the system through the paces. My highest temp was 63 C.
I am calling 4.5 my gaming speed. Again Thanks for the information.

Re:EVGA P67 Quick Overclocking Guide 2011/12/07 02:50:11 (permalink)
hello
i have a Z68 SLI with a 2500K, and it all goes well as to a mild overclock (4.5/5.0GHZ), but i have some issues i would like to know if someone else have.
as there is no option to disable spread spectrum, i have to go to the Intel ME overcloking sub-menu and set the right parameters there so that my system boot with a 100MHZ BLCK
the problem is that as soon i change any value in the BLCK i loose the two network cards in windows, so it has been impossible for me to try and keep the BLCK with 100MHZ, and if i set a diferent BLCK value in the overcloking submenu just happens the same
sorry for the english
my system

Intel 2500K

All I done was the following:
-Set the memory XMP Profile
-Set Vdroop to NO VDROOP
-Set CPU Multi to Manual x45
-Set Vcore to Manual = (I started with 1280 and worked my down from there untill I found the spot I wanted)

It should just work, and no need to change anything else. Unless you need the PLL Override. I leave it off.
(Assuming of course you reset everything to defaults after you started the board the 1st time)

Keep in mind, you will need to put the CPu under a load to see the OC in windows. At idle it'll will just show 1600Mhz.
