I think EVGA does this to counter possible scalpers.  I'm sure some will slip through the cracks as these blocks will be a limited run.  Just be patient and understand, the last thing EVGA wants to do is to get these in the hands of snake oil salesmen price gouging you to smithereens.

As I said this before, EVGA should implement a system with the Serials/Registered KPE owners and only they can purchase one.  The only issue is people looking to gift someone wouldn't be able to like a lovely wife or something.  (Insert joke here)

Haha... show me a wife that wants to blow big kingpin cash on their husbands! Lol

Instant marry guys if ya can!

My wife told me to order mine, ive got facebook messages to prove it lol as far as jacking the price up to 350 for the WB, thats pretty messed up

I would immediately screen shot those messages it in case you wake up one morning with vanished messages.

What size power supply are you guys running with a 9900k and The KP? I figured that a 850w PSU would be enough but I really worry that i need more.

Mobo: EVGA Z390 Dark

GPU: EVGA 2080 TI Kingpin w/ Hydro Copper

850w is definitely 'enough' it just doesn't leave a lot of headroom and means it will be under heavy load (75% or more) when you are gaming or benching. When I spec out systems for clients who want high-end gaming rigs I don't go below 1000W. Personally right now I'm using a 1600 T2 but I understand that's overkill; just the way I like it.

Efficiency also plays a role if you're cutting it real close; for example an 850W PSU @ 90% efficiency is actually only good for 765W real-world. My rule of thumb for PSU's is the more power the merrier, you can keep & use big overkill PSU's through multiple generations of hardware so the sting isn't so bad when you look at it that way. A big 1000W+ power supply will last a very, very long time especially if not stressed very hard during use, this 1600T2 I'm using will probably never see more than a 50% load unless I decide to go LN2 with the KPE.

So its pretty much the same thing as what we do with our cars when we size fuel injectors, Say for example my v8 turbo car has 160lb/hr injectors per cylinder but I only run a max of 80% duty cycle so they're effectively only around 130lb/hr. I originally intended on doing a 1000w PSU to have head room just wanted to see what everyone is working with.

Its still in the build process too lol

I’m running my 9900K and KPE on one of the Asus Thor 1200W PSU’s. I’ve only ever used EVGA power supplies in the past but this one offered the built in OLED showing real time power draw so I went ahead and bought it for this build. My CPU is at 5Ghz all core and KPE is a light +100 to core and +300 to mem and under the heaviest stress tests the meter has just barely broken the 500w mark. In the little bit of time I have spent gaming on it I get around 400w constant.

I have a 1600W T2. Only reason I have it is because I got a killer deal (I **** you not, $140 BNIB) on it from a miner that was getting out of mining and had a few new spare ones. Couldn’t pass it up, even if it is completely overkill lol prior to that I had a 1200W P2. 850W is good enough but you’ll probably be sitting in the 80% plus usage threshold when benching

I am pushing my KP and Computer @ 790 Watts on some Benchmarks.
The Peek I have seen on my KP to date is 483 Watts as shown on the OLED.

Yeah, I have a HX1200 V2 but only because they were 50% discounted.

I'm now considering the AX1600i as it's also been massively discounted from ~430eu to like 295 now the mining craze is dead.

Same here. Went with the 1600axi because of the price drop. I think it cost 5-600USD msrp when it came out and dropped to 350. It was either the same 1200 for 400usd that a few people said do not get or the new 1600 for 350.  It has a massive main board power cable. Its thick. It will not be easy to fit this cable in most pc cases.

I'd feel alot safer with what I've heard 1200watts and above for KP. Why run even close to maxed out on a PSU?

I bought a Evga Supernova G2 1300watt PSU for cheap a year ago just encase I wanted to run 1080ti sli which I didnt need.. so didnt even open it up and install till i upgraded to the 2080ti ftw3.. now feeling good about having it for the Kingpin.

Think in the end it only cost me like a hair more then $100 hehe. Wanted the 1600watt but felt I'd never need that much and was like $80 more at the time.. still wish I bought it!

You people are nuts. lol  I thought I was bad with overkill but yall take it to another freakin level.  I think that's a waste of money that could be used in other areas of a build.  750w-850w on single GPU and 1000w-1200w max if you're doing dual GPUs otherwise, it's a waste of money tbh.  The extra funds spend for a higher watt PSU won't be returned by 90% or 92% efficiency.  To each their own I guess.

Card is gona pull 500+ watts peak on own.. besides a 8 core CPU overclocked and mb,ram and hard drives, fans cooling. I think its smart. Why stress something important as the power delivery?

I pull ~ 640w to 760w from the wall when OC'ed. I will fire up the bench later and upload a pic of the ol'killawatt

Only reason I have a 1600W is because of a steal of a deal lol Otherwise I agree with you. 850-1000w seems reasonable. Anything higher just seems like overkill and not very cost effective

If you were to have a 7980XE, then 1600W would make much more sense....since it pulls 1000+ watts just for the cpu.

Yeah but only at crazy volts under chilled water. I've had it on a custom loop (560mm rads...), could do about ~4.3-4.4GHz before some cores would throttle. Measured consumption from the wall was ~550W running cinebench R15. Fully loaded with 2x 1080Ti the whole rig would pull up to 1000-1100W from the wall.

Sounds reasonable for the extreme cases but not for your average user.

If you were to have a 7980XE, then 1600W would make much more sense....since it pulls 1000+ watts just for the cpu.

Wait what???!!!  Got a source? lol  I bet you it doesn't.

What do you have of value to bet with?

Again, do you have a source for this claim?

Of course I do.
Again, what are you willing to lose?

I can run my 7980xe at 5.0ghz and 1.45v but no idea what watts it's pulling. I am using the 1600watt T2 from evga. That's with a 360mm radiator.

My 5960 @4.75 1080ti sli using AX1200i pulled around 1000w AC at UPS.  ~ 900w at PS based on 92% efficiency.  My 9900 @5.2 and KP in same case pulls close to 900w at UPS.  KP peaked at ~ 470w.  Thinking of swapping out ax1200i for ax1600i so power stays at ~50-60% load.  This keeps highest efficiency and PS should last awhile.  I can migrate 1200w to another system.

Note:  Verified load using Fluke 376 Clamp

Are you using the X299 Dark?

Reason why I ask is because when benching on my Dark I have been running into this weird 12V problem that shows up on the KingPin display. I am using at 1600W T2 Plus a 1200W Thermaltake and it still says it. I do not remeber it saying that on my Apex board. And I do not get it on this Aorus Z390 Xtreme either. Or at least not yet. Trying to figure out why the 12V rail is dropping so much. Thanks.

No I'm using the Asus Rampage VI Extreme Omega. But even with 2080ti Kingpins in SLI I wasn't having any issues
